Great Video of the Standard Gauge Stuff! I need to join that club, ha-ha.

I talked to the guys there and they seem really nice and knowledgeable. They definitely seem to have craftsmanship skills and own a machine shop in their basements. I talked to the president of the club. He came up to me and thanked me for promoting the club when they were at the last show. If you are serious I would look into joining as they seem like a great group of guys who could help you in your standard gauge venture.

Nice video Shawn. Not a real big fan of the STD Gauge stuff but appreciate the effort those guys put into their layout. It sure looks like they are having fun. Crank um up and let um run! Thanks for sharing.

The standard gauge city of Portland is a stunning piece, thanks for showing this, do these guys ever run any original pieces? Everything on the layout looked to be new production or custom built.

I believe that people leave the original standard Gauge tin plate on their shelves and run the MTH reproduction instead.

@@Dakman I run mine all the time but I can see that at an exhibition that would be a risk

I'm sure I said this on the train show video, but that Standard Gauge club layout is jaw-dropping, there's no other way to describe it. The trains are absolutely incredible and what's even more incredible is some are home-built! Some of those guys must have some super machine shops in their basements!
Even if you're not a fan of Standard Gauge you got to remember that this is where it all started and there's true believers out there keeping it alive.
    Thanks Shawn!

You are welcome. When I visited the New York Society of Model Engineers they had a full blown machine shop. I was blown away. But yeah the members there have created some neat pieces including a hand built standard Gauge diesel locomotive.
