Brief swim suit is really sexy😂

False starts in swimming were so annoying that they had to go to an automatic DQ. Reaction times are normally 0.6-0.8 seconds, so if you can try to time it, that would give you a big advantage.

I think the old rule used to be one false start "permitted" for the whole field, but a second false start would result in DQ

Slight correction. The first false start would be credited to the field and the second would be credited to an individual. The third would result in a DQ.

why would he false start on purpose

At this time the swimming authorities were clamping down on athletes trying to 'jump the gun' (like here) as opposed to overbalancing and toppling in. In some races there were two or three false starts and it was taking forever to complete races and TV schedules falling behind etc. However, after a while there was so much dispute about what was 'deliberate' with athletes trying to con officials that they accidentally 'fell in' so thy ruled any false start would result in a DQ.

Esposito switched from a one-kick to two-kick at the end. Interesting!

I suppose he's compensating the lack of energy in his upper body

Just have no sympathy for Scott here - was in total control of this situation and brought it on himself

As you can see and hear, these announcers have not much experience in swimming...unlike today with Rowdy Gaines...

That’s Neil Brooks and Hayley Lewis they have 5 Olympic medals between them and collectively have gone to 5 Olympics. They’re plenty experienced.

The dude that got second has the worst looking fly I’ve ever seen. This man has a one beat kick. He drags his legs for the pull rather than kicking. Idk who let this man use that stroke

it's 200 fly... he was being frugal... saving his legs.

@@ashwinharish3475 yeah, who swims a two fly with a one beat kick? It’s not that long of a race lol. In fact Swimming with a trash technique like that wastes more energy than just swimming normal. Instead of using your legs to get on top of the water he’s dragging his whole body though the water with just his arms. Plus he was a world class swimmer. I’m sure he could just train his legs harder if it’s that much of an issue. You can be frugal without swimming like an idiot. Nobody good would be caught dead swimming like that today especially in the Olympic final

@@Soltani88 200 fly is not that long of a race??? hahaha
I have swum butterfly at the Asian level and I know even the seasoned swimmers dread the 200 butterfly . It's a nightmare . It's not an easy race. It's never " oh, its JUST a 200 m fly". LOL
200 fly along with 400 im are the two hardest races in swimming.
There are some present day world champion swimmers like Sun Yang who are extremely frugal when it comes to using their legs....
      Also, It's 200 fly - it's not a sprint. So it's okay. His technique
is not as bad as you are making it to be

@@ashwinharish3475 actually the two hundred free is the hardest race. You sound like a novice. Most hardened swimmers would agree the 2 free is the most difficult and tricky race to swim. If you know how to swim fly it’s not that hard of a race. It’s definitely not a 100 fly tho I’ll give you that. And Yea his technique is definitely as bad as I’m making it out to seem. Seriously age group swimmers are the only people that should get a pass for swimming like that. If you knew anything about how to swim fly well you’d realize how awful his dudes stroke is. It would be like swimming a two free with a two beat kick. And the two fly really isn’t that long of a race. If you know your shit you’d know how to pace it. Clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about. If you’re an “Asian level swimmer” whatever that means then that explains why America is by far the best swimming country in the world. No competent swimmer would freak out about a 2fly like you’re suggesting. Also sun Yang should be banned from the sport for life JS
