    I wonder if this is the issue with my 2017 Elantra. It dies when I come to idle especially when the AC is on. However yesterday it happened even when my AC was off. I’ll try this. Thanks

    Thanks for the video, what would be a symptom that would cause me to want to replace these?

      Hard starting, loss of power, loss of MPG. But mostly you would be here for a check engine light that gave you a P0011 code.

  • @AlejandroMartinez-ld6kk

    Great video. Thanks for the info. The only thing I was wondering is what spray did you use to clean the part with?

      I'm not 100% sure with this one but in some of this Hyundai/Kia engines the oil screen filter is between the block and head (what a genius..) and if you want to clean it, you have to take a part the head and of course that's a pain in the ass and there are some models that they don't have oil screen filter and this could be one of them

    I have changed the ocv so many times and still the code comes up on my Elantra and it idles 1500 rpm at neutral...what do I do?

      Did you figure it out ?

    • @luispozo1869
      @luispozo1869 Před rokem

      If this happens then the issue could be more likely a dirty oil screen filter or the oil lines from the oil pan to the vvt sprocket and not the OCV solenoid

  • @Theundisputedtruth
    @Theundisputedtruth Před 2 lety +1

    Is this the same thing as ocv I’m getting the same code and poor acceleration, , oil was bad when I bought the car and can’t pass smog , did oil change but still have poor acceleration but is Alittle bit better then before ,what would be on your opinion sir ?

    • @luispozo1869
      @luispozo1869 Před rokem +1

      Could be a bad ocv solenoid (the one on the video is indeed a ocv solenoid) but could connector or wiring problems, could be the oil screen filter (if the car has it) or even (but unusual) could be the camshaft position sensor one of them or both it depends if exhaust or intake (if the car is dual vvt)

  • @mgilluly23

    Hey Brian. My 2011 Elantra has been a great car. But it’s started running hard, has a tick, and stalls out on the decel sometimes. Could it really only be this? Or more like a timing belt? It throws this code

    • @BrianBalatbat
      @BrianBalatbat  Před 2 lety

      These cars are chain driven not belt. Check your oil level first.

    • @mgilluly23
      @mgilluly23 Před 2 lety

      @@BrianBalatbat I meant timing chain, and oil level is fine, changed it, the filter, ran some cleaner. Now we've changed the intake and exhaust VVT solenoid, and the crank sensor. Going to try the timing chain next. Just wasn't sure if this car was known for having timing chain issues.

      Last week i went to dealer for the similar code p0011 and p0017. They changed cvvt, camshafts, timing chain and tensioner. P0017 code went away but p0011 is still showing.

    Hello my aunt has a Hyundai Veloster and it’s making a loud ticking noise. It has this code aswell. You think this might help it or is the engine done? Car runs fine outside of a loud tick. Thanks

    • @BrianBalatbat
      @BrianBalatbat  Před 2 lety

      Hi, have you checked the oil level first? If the oil level is fine try using thicker oil, 10w40. If it hasn’t had an oil change done do that first.

      I have a 12 Elantra touring and the valve is on the right side of the block. It was actually very easy to get off. I came to this video, to make sure there aren't two valves. I know some cars have an intake and exhaust control valve.
