  • The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza presented an interview between Wilborn Hampton, the youngest United Press International reporter in the Dallas bureau in 1963, and Museum Associate Curator Stephen Fagin. Hampton covered suspect Lee Harvey Oswald at Dallas Police Headquarters and later wrote a young adult history book, "Kennedy Assassinated! The World Mourns: A Reporter's Story" (1997).
    This presentation took place at the Museum on April 13, 2013 as part of the 50th anniversary Living History Series. This guy is so steeped in liberal lore that he repeats countless times how Dallas was full of extreme right-wing factions and he equates people who were against Castro, Khrushchev, and Communism as being equivalent to being extremists. He eventually admits in passing that Oswald had nothing to do with that storyline and was a lefty. It's just like the liberal media....a big headline that's false on the front page and then a hidden retraction on page 14 days later. All this as he correctly decries the rush to publish in TV news. He should take note that JFK was against Castro, Khrushchev, and Communism, just like normal conservatives and moderate Americans were in Dallas and throughout the country.

    Stephen Fagin. Thank you for the wonderful job you do. But my only criticism is the focus on the backdrop of intolerance and hate that preceded JFKs visit. It is good for background but it’s really not a major part of the assassination story. Oswald was a far left wing Communist. He’s the guy that pulled the trigger so why do you allow liberal nuts like Bill Hampton to ramble on about the topic of right wing extremism when it had nothing to do with the assassination? Unless you are intentionally trying to create the misimpression that JFK was killed by a right wing nut instead of a liberal left wing extremist. Are you a legitimate historian or a politically motivated charlatan like Oliver Stone. What say you Stephen Fagin?

      Those were the facts of the political climate in Dallas at that time, corroborated by many others. If you don’t like his political leanings, that’s fine but that’s beside the point. Little of his descriptions were coloured by politics. It’s all factual recounting

      @iluatldm Před 2 lety +3

      That's the problem with people like you Roger. If facts don't support your own position you discredit them. The political climate in Dallas at the time was tarnished by a right wing extremist fervor. Its incredibly well documented with plenty of news footage preserving the sentiment at the time.

    • @laurastanton7812

      Agree Roger Waters. This reporter worked for NYTs so we cant expect any real journalism from him. He is too blinded by his ideology to clearly see it was a complete left winger extremist shit show in Dallas at the time. Nearly every player including the shooter and conspiracy suspects and the politicians were left wingers. Some of the left wingers were communists. How this dude drags conservatives into his narrative is so desperate. Geez, no wonder the conservatives protested those left wing bigots. Anybody sane would. Look what they were up to.
