5/5. Kinloch Nelson plays Blue Arch Guitars. Pretty Blue.

At the 2023 Artisan Guitar Show in Harrisburg PA, Kinloch Nelson played a concert on my acoustic archtop guitars. I chose Kinloch to present the capabilities of my guitars, because his fingerstyle playing is so considerably different from what we are used to when imagining playing an archtop. I wanted to show that the modern design of an acoustic archtop expands the interpretative possibilities of this type of guitar and it becomes a tool for many types of music - not only jazz.
On this recording, Kinloch plays a guitar that I call Dark Matter. The top is torrefied Sitka spruce, the back, sides and neck are made from a very dark piece of Indian Rosewood. What you hear is a mix from the microphone and the ultra-low-impedance humbucker, whose balanced signal directly feeds the PA system via the XLR connector.
