- *This video assumes you know terms like SOI, TMS and generally know how to use mavericks, this is more intended to be a more in depth grow your technique sort of thing and be supplemental to the already abundant content out there of how to employ mavericks/use the tgp etc *
Welcome back folks, I created this video as I have been seeing a lot of questions about bore sighting mavericks ever since a couple of patches ago where Ground Jettison switch was required for on the ground procedure, and MORE IMPORTANTLY parallax was enforced. In this video I go over the parallax conundrum, air bore sighting and the benefits and then do a run in on a convoy rippling off all 4 mavericks. Enjoy and I hope this video helps out.

Thank you so much for this video!
You're welcome!
Thank you very much for making this video. I was in the group that thought it would be too difficult trying to bore sight the mavericks while in the air, but this video has shown it can be done quickly in the air. Keep up the great videos and I have no doubt your channel will blow up on YT in no time once you start posting your DCS missions.
You're welcome! I appreciate the kind words. Gives me motivation to keep going making videos!
This was very interesting. I never even tried to boresight in the air, but I have exacltly the problems you mention when I do the boresighting on the ground. Will do it in the air from now on :)
Let me know how it works out for you :)
@@Carbon_715 Nope, will not work. After I berosighted the maverick, when I press TMS down, the seeker slews of target. In your video, it looks like it stays on target even if it drops the lock. Then when I try to lock and hand of via the tgp, the maverick looks of target
(I am running latest version of Stable though)
Best explanation I saw on the subject. Besides choosing land targets way too close to make it right, it seems I forgot one crucial step: you said after you press boresight, you have to press TGP after before changing the station, did I get it right? Thanks again, good work!
Im not sure if you had an auto correct thing going on but you hit tms aft then change station
@@Carbon_715 my brain is autocorrecting me and making me lose face. :D Yes, I meant the TMS, not the TGP. Thanks, man!
Nice! Pivot
Thanks!
I boresight my mavs in one pass on both stations. Soon as I press thr bstg button I select the next station and do the same. Can do it within 5 miles.
:)
Beautiful.
Two things I was doing wrong. 1. Attempting to boresight an object that's too close. 2. Forgetting about Force Correlate. Thanks! Is it possible to boresight in Vis mode or must you be in PRE?
Glad to of helped! Has to be pre mode to work.
@@Carbon_715 got it. Did you fly the real Viper?
Disregard. I just saw your bio. Viper Crew Chief.......Nice!
Thank you for that.
I'll try it on my next sortie.
You say that we can turn the Mavs off after the boresight process.
If the missile has no power, how can it save its alignment with the pod ?
I assume the missle has power stIll via SMS, the power to video feed is terminated though
@@Carbon_715
Understood.
Thank you :-)
I know a while back you could lock the maverick on anything, not where the TGP was looking and click bore sight and it would still work :D is this still broken or do you have to do it properly now
No, that won't work anymore
This is ok for the "how" but pretty silly in contested airspace where the threats are unknown or can shoot further than 8 miles.....which is about all of them. So prepare to get good at coldstarts in a mission/server where stuff actually shoots back.....ie you would never do this that way......same as you would never sight in your rifle on the front line when being shot at....
Right, you would do it off your wingman, but for simplicities sake... no one is saying to even boresight on your target , ie the "frontline". Many opportunities on many things to boresight , your wingman buildings, antennae, vehicles.
This procedure in multiplayer is wholly irrelevant and unnecessary. I wish there was a special option to skip this entirely.
To be fair, from what I understand pre is never really used to that extent back when Mavs were widely used. Just enough to get the mav close and then use the mav to lock instead of handoff with tgp. As for that special option, that option is war thunder 😁
I dont accept that the special option cant be added just like the harrier for example gets a quick INS stored heading option. I literally cant see the mav screen and therefore its an accesibility issue and should be considered over realism. Im not advocating the removal of said feature, just for an option to choose. the War Thunder comment is unnecessary @@Carbon_715
