    Charles Fishduck; thank you so much for this series, I found you and the website in Feb 2014 when I first learned about CFB; Smartfootball, and I was watching 2013 season in the offseason, trying to understand this wacky new world (to me). Im in NYC, a gaping hole in Friday and Sat football. Love to see Ducks like Herbert, Kayvon, Penei Sewell, succeed in NFL and that's going to keep the recruits coming.

      @xonfl414 Před 2 lety

      Yeah Fishduck is a treasure. Seems he got busy or despondent when the Ducks had a coaching carousel for a few years. It sucks; CFB teams esp need continuity but they're human beings, they're gonna chase the bigger $$. Nike's founder can only donate so much.

    @large74 I think the reason you saw the offense struggle against LSU and Auburn is because those teams were bigger and more physical one the defensive line than Oregon was on the offensive line. In order for any offense to work (including Oregon's) the offensive line has to win the battle at the point of attack. In the NFL I think this offense could work because there is not a huge gap in separation team to team in the trenches. Every team is big and physical and both sides.

    @large74 I agree. I am a Alabama fan and my father went there during the Bear Bryant era but I really like this offense and other variations such as the triple option. I enjoyed seeing Denver try some of it this year although they were limited due to their offensive personnel and an OC that had no experience with that type of offense. I would like to see what a team could do if they committed to this kind of offense more in terms of drafting players that fit the style.

  • @dvader1949
    @dvader1949 Před 12 lety

    the basis of the offense is the inside and outside reads with play action and ancellary plays there seem to be vaiations of the plays themselves. at 11:15 against sc that is a trap with a fold block, no read on it. at 9:09, 9:15 and 10:03 the defenses are left with only two people on the weak side, the tackle doubles down and the back breaks to the back side with the qb reading the de, that is actually veer action. they are counting the front and running a variety of plays depending on numbers

      +Marcus Carter I wouldn't say he's completely wrong. he needs to know the basic skills such as a proper defensive 3 point stance and proper offensive three point stance. how to block, tuck the ball, backpedal ect. also its the law that he's gotta show people how to tackle or he'll have a lawsuit. doesnt mean he has to play football but playing football is the BEST way to learn that stuff.

    The announcers "Get confused" because literally anyone can be turned into the read key. One play the Mike can be your key, the next play the D end a d Will backer will be the 2 reads. So in their defense that is why it is hard to tell in just a couple seconds of analyzing.

      Announcing was truly awful as far as learning why a play happened. Televised 'analysis' was even worse; amounting to arguing 'Does Tony Romo Have what it takes to win in this league?" "Is Romo a winner?" And before that Bledsoe. Arguing about Cowboys QBs grit, was HALF of the hour long shows. I found Smartfootball, Footballoutsiders film room, lots of guys who don't write anymore to actually LEARN what happened last Sunday and what might happen next sunday. Talk shows, talk radio, is for the idiots who don't want to learn about coverages, run fits, 3 technique, Whats ACTUALLY happening on field.

    So, how's Abbie doing?

    • @FishDuck83
      @FishDuck83  Před 7 lety +2

      Abbie has aged well, and still loves cheese and is simply a wonderful dog. She is half Shar-Pei, of which is horrendously aggressive in the breed's native China, and the other half is Pit-Bull, and I don't have to tell you THAT reputation. This should be a terrible, terrible aggressive and combative dog...but is not.
      These dogs just want to please their owners, and are incredible pliable and will learn and adjust to anything. Teach them to be a killer--and they will to please you. Teach them to be a sweetheart--and they will and life with them is a beach.
      It is not just an expression, but the truth, "it all comes down to the owner." Pit Bulls are incredibly happy cheerful dogs, but their weakness is their propensity to please. They will kill for you if taught that way. They will be superb dogs with children and family for you as well if taught that way.
      My daughter has taught this dog superbly. My only regret is their limited life-span.
      We love Abbie, and thank you for asking!

    the "talking heads" do know what they are talking about. this is a very well known concept and has been for years.
    you have a few things wrong.
    1. the zone, inside or outside, isnt designed to go to any particular "hole"...the back carrying the ball is running to space. this isnt a traditional "numbered" offensive running scheme.
    2. the "veer" thing is wrong. you guys may be running "inside zone" but it is functioning as a veer. the downhill angle, the direction of the read. its a veer option.

  • @dcapitan7

    I appreciate these videos, but the way you say that the quarter back is zone reading is incorrect. He isn't zone reading, he is just reading. The zone comes from the blocking scheme. You run zone, with a read component by the qb. Not that the qb is zone reading the defense.

    Mike McCarthy decides to incorporate the Oregon option scheme into his playbook: "Here's a play for you Rodgers: fake the inside handoff to Lacy who sweeps wide right, then run off left tackle. If the cornerback is waiting for you, then turn it back inside and fight for extra yards." The play sends Rodgers screaming towards the sidelines, where a 250 pound linebacker pummels his ass out of bounds. Packer fans are aghast.
    This is the essence of the spread option, and why it will ruin football.

    The Quack-Attack should have been highly effective vs. aggressive SEC speed, and "D" intensity. Those boys were scared, which is why they R Ducks not Trojans. Its tough being on top. OU walked in Trojan sized shoes for 9 years but couldn't close the deal as we have so many times. Yep, Ducky have nothing to show for it. Be advised: Only we can stop the SEC, no other program is legendary enough to derail them, all others have failed, no other is worthy, to slay the beast. We R Coming..... WE R SC!
