  • In this video we see the bamboo growth that has escaped the trench and the steps taken to control the spreading. Use of RoundUp to spot-spray new growth is necessary as an extreme measure.
    ** Warning: Roundup has been linked to cancer, lymphoma and leukemia. Persons who use Roundup in their garden, landscaping, yards, or fields face a risk for developing several different forms of cancer. Use appropriate protective clothing and devices and take necessary precautions when using this product. **

    The only way to stop it is to dig up the root/rhizomes and pull them out. Chemical sprays dont do anything to stop the spread.

    Try a wetting agent like an organo silicone as well as the round up and it will allow spray to penetrate leaves and stalks

      Thanks, I don't know what this is but I'll keep this in mind.

    When you cut down bamboo, it just takes the energy and goes in a different direction. I am currently digging up my entire back yard. The more I dig, the further away they move. I’ve been using salt but I’m going to switch to round up. It’s time to get serious.

    We are fighting the same battle here sir! Im using a product called imitator plus (from rural king) supposedly pretty much the same as round up) the Company told me for bamboo specifically to mix it 15 oz to 1 gal of water. I was shocked. According to them bamboo is one of the hardest to eradicate. That mix ratio floored me! My 1st spray was 1 week ago ( b4 i called). I mixed 8 oz to 1 gal and its barely affected the bamboo. Gonna mix it stout and see if it helps. Hardest stuff ive ever encountered. Ive sprayed brushlines and thistles around the farm for years with ease. Not so much with this bamboo enemy!

      Yes sir it is hard to control. I will increase the ratio the next time I spray. Thanks for watching and good luck.

    How did that roundup turn out after a few years? I have about 1/2 acre of bamboo I’m currently fighting…

      I haven't used it in almost 2 years now, I just kick over any new growth that pops up outside of my boundary. I know the roots are spreading and it all may just blow up on me at some point. But I have learned to mix the RoundUp much stronger than the dosage recommended on the package. Appreciate your comment and thank you for watching.

      I also have a huge area covered with new short bamboo growth which spread from neighbors. Did you ever get it under control?

    • @VGreggUndercover
      @VGreggUndercover Před rokem

      @@martinyoung2481 I ended up using RoundUp after cutting the stalks in half and it worked for about 75% of it. So now for the remaining 25% I’ll do the process over until it’s 99% gone. From my research it will never go away fully until you unearth and remove the root systems

    My backyard neighbor planted this shit maybe 8 years ago at our fence line and it’s a constant struggle to keep this shit outta my yard. Why in the hell people plant this shit is beyond me because it’s truly invasive to everyone’s yard, stupid people do stupid shit and don’t care.

    In other words, trenches don’t work.

    • @LandingZoneHome
      @LandingZoneHome  Před 2 lety

      I think they can work but I was too late getting mine in; I think the roots / rhizomes had already gone beyond the trench when I put it in. Once the roots go beyond the trench you must get those stopped to prevent spreading. Good luck and thanks for watching.
