0:00 You hear the battle drums and can see the Roman Century from the wall of your fort.
0:12 Suddenly you can hear the battle drums from all sides, right before you see Roman Centuries coming from everywhere. You prepare for the worst.
0:36 All the centuries form a Testudo, charging with Pisas and Siege Ladders at the Walls you're defending.
1:08 The siege Ladders rise high up the wall. You with your comrades shooting every arrow and throwing each rock in order to kill as many Legionaries as possible while they're still on their way up.
2:12 Despite all efforts, the Legionaries are behind the wall now, charging for the wall defenders with Speers and Swords. The close Combat begins, while one Legionnaire after another climbs up the Wall.
2:44 The wall is nothing but lost. The Legionnaires make their way down the Stairs, killing each bravely enough to resist. You and some comrades make your way to the Barracks, where you from a defensive perimeter with the Fort Commander. The Legionnaires form a siege ring around the Barracks with shields up and spears forward, slowly marching towards you.
3:16 Any resistance is futile. Most of your comrades fell and you begin to understand that surrender is the only option. You, the commander and a fist full of other comrades drop their blades surrounded by Pisas. The Roman Centurion makes his way trough his soldiers to you and the few survivors. He gives his soldiers the command to stand down, as they are all lowering their weapons. He shakes your commanders hand, and says ''gratissimum in Imperium''
Welcome to the Empire...

@@maxt9657 they were invaded, hence it's a marching song. btw remember Arminius? i know you will probably say Germany was not a unified country until the late 19th century and yes, i know that but for the meme it was simplified to Germany as a whole to make it more comedic. the Romans didn't conquer every country they fought, examples are the Scots (Pict, Gaels, whatever you want to call them) and the Germans (numerous tribes). i don't know why people find it their religious job to take the piss out of a semi-historical statement but whatever.

I think it is so fascinating how an empire that has been dead for so long still manages to capture our imaginations and inspire us enough to still be relevant to this day, it truly is the empire that will never die.
Truly, it is.
Personally I believe it’s because of how they conquered as much as they did. They used an incredible amount of discipline, unified fighting skills, advanced tactics (for there time), and a technological edge. Most large scale conquerors up to that point were more or less one trick ponies, and modern military techniques are modernized Roman techniques if you look closely enough. Rome modernized war for the entire world, human wave tactics were proven to be inferior, discipline and unity were proven superior.
Roma Invicta.
If it wasn't for the Roman Empire, things would be different, now, the system that built Rome still exists today.!
I mean it died in the 1450s…or 1800s or if you count the 3rd edition. It lives on in our languages, culture and laws. Lowkey hope it somehow comes back someday

@CrusaderPrince How?
@CrusaderPrince But they're still a direct successor of the Roman Empire because they were literally the Eastern Roman Empire. Not linguistically and religiously (Greeks are orthodox Christians) but the only reason the Byzantine was Greek was because most of the people who lived in the Eastern Roman Empire were Greek. It was still a direct successor of Rome.

Ah, the sound of the Legions marching to battle, accompanied by a full orchestra- kind of a “blazing saddles” moment !
MONGO LIKE CANDY!
As the last soldier fell, silence fell. Few dared believe it. Then a great cheer rose from the Germanic forces. For the first time, they had struck a blow against the Italian upstarts who tried to make them bend the knee. Finally, they had defeated a Legion in battle. Won.
Their battle cries were cut off by the long, deep blast of a horn. Then another. With a phenominal roar, a column of Legionaries crested the hill. And Barbarian blood went cold. The poor fools thought they stood a chance. Against the mighty Lion that is Rome.
Pathetic.

@Sasuke Uchiha We're not going to go into exactly how badly you are wrong, so let's just say its a lot. There are examples of Roman engineering across Europe, many of them are still in good shape even after all these centuries.
@Sasuke Uchiha Most of the architecture was broken down for castles and shit. Medieval architecture at least the earliest of it was mostly old Roman materials. Where do you think all those still in use Roman roads went. Would you like a province by province breakdown of what cities they built and where they went? To think I made a channel just to respond to this. -Deez Nutz-
Considering how things are going, I think that it's a fact that this song will play in the minds of many people in the world, in a few decades.
Quite possibly there will be a new Roman empire with the rise of Europe once again.
Not decades in the next few years you mean 👍
John Southerland “the rise of Europe” lmfao good luck with that, remember the last time a few European nations thought they were the worlds superpower? And that’s before the US become as dominant a military as they are today. Have you ever met your typical European solider? Soft lol go back further in history and the British couldn’t even defeat american farmers when they rebelled 😂
America lose to rice farmers in Vietnam. Europe conquier the world multiples times : Alexander, Caesar, Augustus, Trajan, Charlemagne, Charles the Bald, Napoléon, and so on. Whenever America put a foot on a country they either lose or set a mess for decades

@david allen yeah right! I've been pushing Gladitorial Death matches for sporting events for a while. Even back then it was a distraction from politics and other B.S.
@david allen America is the descendant of Rome and the western civilization culture. But due to bad policies we are having to many people come to America and are not assimilating. That is why the culture is changing. Make no mistake everything that the western world has is because of Roman conquest and tenacity. And we are taking it for granted.

You see that all empires in Europe tried the reunification of Rome
Right behind you even the ottomans claimed roman successorship.
Right behind you The Huns sure didn’t
And the ones who were the closest to do it were the Franks/French.
In 508, the Byzantine Emperor, Anastasius I, custodian of the insignia of the Roman Empire, gave them to Clovis, making him Augustus, and making himthe legitimate successor of the last Roman Emperor, Romulus Augustule, and the Frankish Kingdom, heir and successor of the Roman Empire.
Charlemagne, also King of the Franks, almost reunified Europe.
Philippe II, first King of France unified all the Galic provinces, based his policy on the Roman Empire one and was known as Auguste.
Then Napoléon, first consul, then sacred with the Roman crown, first Emperor of the French, King of Italy, Emperor of the Kings, conqueror of Egypt, almost unified the whole Europe...
