0:00 You hear the battle drums and can see the Roman Century from the wall of your fort.
0:12 Suddenly you can hear the battle drums from all sides, right before you see Roman Centuries coming from everywhere. You prepare for the worst.
0:36 All the centuries form a Testudo, charging with Pisas and Siege Ladders at the Walls you're defending.
1:08 The siege Ladders rise high up the wall. You with your comrades shooting every arrow and throwing each rock in order to kill as many Legionaries as possible while they're still on their way up.
2:12 Despite all efforts, the Legionaries are behind the wall now, charging for the wall defenders with Speers and Swords. The close Combat begins, while one Legionnaire after another climbs up the Wall.
2:44 The wall is nothing but lost. The Legionnaires make their way down the Stairs, killing each bravely enough to resist. You and some comrades make your way to the Barracks, where you from a defensive perimeter with the Fort Commander. The Legionnaires form a siege ring around the Barracks with shields up and spears forward, slowly marching towards you.
3:16 Any resistance is futile. Most of your comrades fell and you begin to understand that surrender is the only option. You, the commander and a fist full of other comrades drop their blades surrounded by Pisas. The Roman Centurion makes his way trough his soldiers to you and the few survivors. He gives his soldiers the command to stand down, as they are all lowering their weapons. He shakes your commanders hand, and says ''gratissimum in Imperium''
    Welcome to the Empire...

Personally I believe it’s because of how they conquered as much as they did. They used an incredible amount of discipline, unified fighting skills, advanced tactics (for there time), and a technological edge. Most large scale conquerors up to that point were more or less one trick ponies, and modern military techniques are modernized Roman techniques if you look closely enough. Rome modernized war for the entire world, human wave tactics were proven to be inferior, discipline and unity were proven superior.

As the last soldier fell, silence fell. Few dared believe it. Then a great cheer rose from the Germanic forces. For the first time, they had struck a blow against the Italian upstarts who tried to make them bend the knee. Finally, they had defeated a Legion in battle. Won.
Their battle cries were cut off by the long, deep blast of a horn. Then another. With a phenominal roar, a column of Legionaries crested the hill. And Barbarian blood went cold. The poor fools thought they stood a chance. Against the mighty Lion that is Rome.
    Pathetic.

No you have zero songs from the empire to listen to as no roman songs were recorded to the modern day

I was walking home from work the other day with headphones on and youtube running in my phone.
    Then this kicked in.
Without realizing it i started marching in time with the music and what is usually a 10 minute walk became a 3 minutes charge.
