I respect that he didn't just say "remove guns" or "fix mental health issues". He gave a solution that can be implemented now. A healthy mind can be fostered by being surrounded by people who can mentor impressionable younger people. That includes youth work programs as well. That's a fantastic way to actually fix the problem instead of just yelling buzzwords.

Youth programmes is a buzz word, it doesn't work, it never did, if I'm on my way to a club n I get assaulted by some kids cuz I'm unarmed thanks to these politicians, I'm gonna seek revenge, that's life, prevent ppl being victimised via giving ppl self defence or the cycle continues

Andrew Yang for President!! Refreshing to hear a solution to gun violence that might ACTUALLY be a solution. Give the kids something to do, give them skills and training, give them an alternative to a life of crime, give them a chance at SUCCESS!! This man must run again!!
Here is the truth... Individuals can act racist but politically the only tolerated systemic racism is by the Democratic party.... A) against asians and whites as 1) quotas 2) affirmative action and 3) identity politics and B) against blacks and hispanics as 1) welfare dependency, 2) limited public school choices (vouchers, charter schools and school choice) and improper public school management by teacher unions, 3) Democrat party founded police unions deals with their Democrat mayors and Democrat city officials to cover up or under and overcharge officers (murder 1 charge instead of manslaughter to get officers off) by the Democrat district attorney to avoid their convictions, 4) selectively targeting minorities for abortions and 5) controlling the system to fostering single mother child rearing.... all with the narrative that the Democratic party cares about people of color, children and women.

@@MaxPowers2.0 no Max.... both parties are not systemically racist.... individuals can be racist but the ONLY tolerated systemic racism is by the Democratic party.... this is the plain truth... until someone with a voice accepts the truth within the Democratic party it will only continue. Also who is blocking charter schools and school choice for my children? Who is overfunding my inner city school's administrators but underdelivering on teaching those kids? Whose systems are allowing gangs, drugs, violence and prostitution on inner city streets (underpolicing and or underprosecuting) and ruining my neighborhood? Whose policies are fostering our mothers to be single and on perpetual welfare and taking fathers from our lives?

@@MaxPowers2.0 🤣 was true many years ago and is still true now. Look at the policies... who supports charter schools? Who defunds the police? Who facilitated single motherhood? Who thinks their policies help but only allow these issues to continue? Which prosecutors allow crime in our neighborhoods but not yours?

Also need to promote the ideal nuclear family structure.. having a father in the household significantly reduces the likelihood of criminal behaviour and gun violence

All the people commenting; they said “illegal” guns…and Yang didn’t even mention it. Please actually listen and read. Obviously it’s a whole layer of aspect of reason with mental health, environmental micro-economic social issues that also is a layer, however, start with the ones that can be implemented fast without pullback and can get passed on the first run.

@@The_General_Zubas It's not just mentally unstable people with guns causing extreme gun violence, it's criminals and irresponsibly selfish people who think that guns are the best solutions to a problem.
For gun violence to diminish, BOTH mental health and ease of ownership/misuse need to be addressed.
The gun issue doesnt simply go away because people are getting therapy or w/e. Better gun control also needs to be put into action to take guns away from those I described above(and, if I'm honest, more than that, but a lot of the police as well).

Its never the guns. Im not a gun fanatic but I know its not the guns. I grew up in the hood south side of Chicago and was surrounded by bad people with guns. We need to look at what's making these bad people bad so we can fix these issues.
Come on Yang, actually have decent prescriptions for gun violence like ending the drug war and providing mental health help. Hell even your UBI would have a greater effect on gun violence than banning "assault weapons" and magazines of a specific size. Ask firearms owners as well to be part of the conversation when you develop these laws please.
He does talk about other facets of the issue, as well.
@@RobotProctor He does John, but he also parrots Democrat talking points like Assault Weapons bans and magazine bans and high taxes on both guns and ammunition purchases which with disproportionally effect poor people who need the 2A the most or be so totally ineffective at ending gun violence like the Assualt weapons ban which would only account for 2% of all firearms related homicides yearly.
I didn't hear a single opinion from Yang about the gun violence.
Or the nature of the guns themselves vs the criminals who are getting their hands on them who do not care what law you pass.
Your objectives are counter productive. If you raise minimum wage, you will decrease the number of positions, and at the same time incentivize employers to hire more qualified individuals fighting over the decreased job slots, thereby reducing the likelyhood that a teenager with no experience will get hired.

Yes, education and jobs will do so much more than any type of gun control proposed. It not only will reduce gun violence but help the youth not become criminals in the future and make smart decisions which includes voting for non-corrupt politicians.
Then we need to outlaw knives. We also need to outlaw automobiles. Have you looked at how often people are killed in automobile accidents? And how many DUIs or DWIs is a person allowed to get before they actually go to jail?
