I used to get made fun of in school when I mentioned Thunder Dan… but he was an underrated beast! Agile, strong and fearless with hell of range! Played against the best of the best and always kept my attention. Same for Joe Dumars! Two exceptionally talented ball players!
My first 2 thoughts: 1. This is the guy kids call an unathletic white dude. Lol he's more athletic than most guards in the league right now. 2. People say Curry invented the deep three. Then Bron fans say it was Bron (lol at that). Majerle was doing it 25+ years ago.
I have a funny personal story about him. Back in the 1990s, hmmmmm Summer of 1993 to be exact, my family and I did a vacation cruise to the Caribbeans. This was when Majerle was at his prime and killing it with Barkley, etc... My sister had the biggest crush on him and out of luck he happened to be on the same cruise with us. When she found out she did everything to spot him. Finally, she saw him on the ship and got a picture taken with him. Keep in mind this was back when disposable cameras were the primary source of picture taken. Well about a week later after she got the camera roll developed it turned out to be a bust! She was clearly visible in the picture but the lighting on Dan was so bad that it cast an entire shadow over him. Let's just say she was bummed!!!
I remember when drafted him. After he started playing for the Sun's he was primarily a dunker thus he got his nickname thunder Dan and after a few years in the league he started to develope a long jump shot from past the 3 point line which him one of my favorite players in the NBA!!!

West had that range but didn't count for 3, only 2. Let's see Bird had that range but had the skill to get to the line to make it an easier shot. From that range, yeah, Thunder Dan was the first to use it effectively, so I would agree.
This guy was a complete player. Dunker, shooter, defender, and he was ripped.

Marjerle was great player, the kind of guy everyone would want on their team. He'd fit well in today's game too, just the complete package.
