I must be a real boot head / leather nerd because I thought that interview was terrific. I learned a lot and father/son were so nifty. I have gotten into repairing some of my own leather goods (shoulder holster harnesses, etc.) but I keep telling myself I do NOT need another hobby.

It's hard to believe but this channel just keeps getting better! Amazing interview and great job of using footage to illustrate the conversation.
Tiny bit of constructive feedback. A more dynamic camera use during the actual interview could have helped when discussing boots/ leather in the room.
All the best to both you and Seidel!

Cool informative video for me as a person who knows nothing about leather and a city boi lol I really appreciate how everything is made and makes me appreciate my boots even more I have pretty much not even used my sneakers anymore since i been watching your channels and now have became a boot head I've bought about 10 boots since watching your channel pretty crazy but way worth it. Btw the ND2s are breaking in nice now lol

Great to peel back some of the mysticism behind Seidel leather and so nice to see the humanity behind the brand. I enjoyed getting to know the father and son behind the brand. I’m also very happy to hear that they make the leather in Thorogood boots. I own two pairs and I like them a lot. I am a professional camera assistant, and I hear the concerns about the audio and the camera focus but that didn’t distract me too much. Yes it’s good to improve and do thing better but I think it’s great that you’re making this content and getting the access to these people to hear their story and about their work and products. So cool to get access to people in the leather industry maybe we can get a Horween interview and I’d really love a White’s interview with the CEO but also maybe some of the bookmakers!

Great interview. I was drawn to your channels because I can tell how passionate you are and that's so interesting to watch. I eat a plant based diet and am always torn on this topic. I believe eating plants is better for me, the environment, and certainly for the poor factory farmed animals, but I also am so worried about the plastic being used in everything. I get that leather is going to last so much longer which is why I'm still planning to buy leather work boots. I'm eyeing the White's Millwood currently as a good option under $400 that will probably last me forever working in my garage and around the house on the weekends. And it's made in the USA which I appreciate. Great video again.
Ps please compare the White's Millwood or Perry (I think they are basically the same boot with a different toe?) to the JK 300 if you can. Those seem like the two best options under $400. Thanks!

You could buy some of their leather and make a small batch of watch bands. Once you can measure the demand go to a leatherman shop and put in a bigger order. The adapters and buckle should be silver to match the price. You could make a good amount of profit off those because very rich people use Apple Watches. Remember there’s 62 million millionaires out there. If you cater to their needs and market it correctly you will find success.

    Nice video, pretty interesting stuff
However, some constructive criticism, this kind of interview/borderline podcast content needs a higher standard of audio quality than normal videos, since for lots of people listening, the audio is literally the entire product.
Lots of popping in audio of this video, different mic, pop filters or mic stands are good solutions for this.

    • @ChrisPFuchs

Room reflections too, even if they throw some sound blankets on the floor/off camera or wherever.
Also there are automixers (generally on higher end recorders but also some that can be used in post) that'll dip the non active mics to reduce the extra room reflections and noise while keeping the noise floor consistant.

If you’re thinking about doing dressier type boots, you should definitely do it as a collaboration with a fashion channel that recommends boots from time to time, like Teddy Baldassare for example. I guarantee these guys watch your channel, but I do reckon a lot of them recommend stuff that is garbage, you can then show them what really goes into their boots. Although that may f*ck up a few sponsors 😂

Anything you can think of it would be grey! People don't want that! They will pay hundreds of dollars for trainers ect. Then they throw away. I have leather shoes from when i was 17. And great leather jackets from 1980, which are still sold today! I am now 62. And they are still good! Resoled now and again, but ghe leather is still good! I have always looked after my foot wear. It's ironic that certain people will revere indigenous cultures for living off the land and using the entire animal without wasting anything yet they condemn white men when they do the same thing but have used science and art to perfect these processes. Admittedly, the destruction of small, cottage businesses by big business and industrial manufacturers resulted in a focus on maximizing short-term profits; however, with the rise of decentralized, local artisans who focus on generational preservation, business methods again take into account sustainability, regeneration, and social responsibility.

      @@clintonleonard5187 it’s not hard?
Mistakes get made. He’s not a professional camera operator obviously.
Just because you’re a CZcamsr, doesn’t mean you won’t make a mistake either.
You have to also consider how much time they would give him. How much equipment they wanted around, set up time, and ALSO just wanted to carry around for their trip.
How many interviews are on your channel? How many interviews have you shot?
How many multi camera setups and multi mic set ups have you done?
So annoying that you’re whining about the video quality when there’s a good informational interview.
It’s annoying when you also don’t have any content on your channel and call it easy like you have actually shot anything before.
The set up isn’t perfect. He should have the best camera on them. He can improve the mic set up but needs XLR lav mics for his recorder or additional stands for the mics, but stands for travel take up space and require set up time. Could use additional recorders, wireless recorders but that’s all additional storage, batteries, variables to worry about.
What cameras did he bring? What light is available? Did it look right when he started recording and then go out of focus? Or is it a little camera he couldn’t see the sharpness on easily? Where he could have easily forgotten to clean the lens if it was dirty. Was it simply a MISTAKE that’s not worth throwing away a whole interview for?
It’s not hard… I have my doubts you’ve ever shot anything or know anything.

As a leather lover, the “facts” you use here are at least not correct.
    1. Leather is a great material and a biodegradable one, much more then plastic, the problem is the tanning byproducts, usually at low end tanneries in the 3d world thats why you should buy from a company who is open about its sourcing.
2.raising cattle is a huge ecological problem in the scales that it is now, from the raising of food ( those corn fields you are speaking in, who eats it?) to the use of open areas. We should consume less. Never the less it is our responsibility to use every bit of the animal, including the hide! Its an obligation nothing else.
    3. You should check Conker boots from the UK as a high end leather minimalist boot. Looking forward for that.
As usual, thanks for the content

Ok, as a devil's advocate I'll try to take the opposite direction. If whole world would eat the same amount of meat as average US citizen, it would have tremendous impact, on the planet as a whole. I agree leather goods are better more durable and recycable, but there are conflicted groups of interests. Global producers, that want to make cheap shit as 500$ shoe would only appeal to some enthusiasts it's more lucrative for companies to make you buy a new 100$ pair once in a quater.
