Revenge of the Nerds 2 and One Crazy Summer were on my honorable mentions list but I decided not to do a the honorable mentions because I was running so long on the video... I never script anything for my videos, I just start talking, so sometimes I can run long lol...

Hey thanks so much! After doing 8 indie features, the best advice I can give is to just get the first one made no matter what...I raised like 10k to make the first one and everyone worked for deferred pay, I had to film and edit it myself, act in it myself etc etc...BUT it got completed, I had a premiere event for it at an Atlanta theater and it got into a couple of festivals and that was like "proof of concept and ability"...then I on the next movie, I was able to get about twice the budget and rinse and repeat with each film until I was being asked to speak at Horror conventions and was taken seriously enough to get higher profile actors in my films...then you'll reach another tough spot where everyone thinks youve made it and have a lot of money for big budgets but you dont lol...you are kinda too big to do smaller movies and too small to do bigger movies LOL...I ran into being able to get almost any high profile (except A listers) actor/actress if I could pay them - BUT their agents wouldnt sign them without all financing for the movie in place and investors wouldnt put the financing in place without the "named actors" already signed on LOL...it was/is a viscous circle BUT there is nothing more awesome than making a movie and seeing your vision come to life! Just go get the first one in the can by any means necessary! Dont wait on everything to be perfect because it never will be!!!

@@weslinklater5194 no problem! I got the rights back to most of them but I think you can still find Creature Feature, Bring Me A Dream with Martin Kove and Tyler Mane, and Realm Of Souls on like Tubi, Amazon Prime, and stuff like that
Great list, especially love The Great Outdoors and Summer Rental, they are always my go to for summer....Some other ones i enjoy that arent on the list or mentioned in the comments is Heavyweights(1995) , Camp Nowhere(1994), What About Bob(1991) ,Meatballs(1979), Caddyshack(1980), Weekend At Bernies(1989), Weekend At Bernies 2(1993), The Burbs(1989), The Sandlot(1993), Dont Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead(1991), Without A Paddle(2004)
thanks! and great list here too!! Meatballs, Caddyshack, and Dont Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead are all ones that I had written down that didnt make the final 20 (which was going to be 15 LOL) but I love those films

Of course, I'm chiming in late again, but you said that you don't have Private Resort on physical media. I have it on Blu-ray. It's part of a 4-movie collection called "Sun, Sand, and Sweat along with Hardbodies, Spring Break, and Perfect. My other summertime movie favorites, besides the first three in that collection, are Miracle Beach, Summer School, One Crazy Summer, Summer Rental, Summer Camp Nightmare, Hot Dog, Ski Patrol, Ski School, and Up the Creek. The First Turn On would be an honorable(or dishonorable lol) mention.
you know what's funny is, after I posted this, Brian at @thelastmoviestanding mentioned that about Private Resort, and it turns out I did have that 4 Pack and forgot about it LOL time to start using an App to log my movies hahaha
I've been kinda thinking about this. I personally don't count holiday movies into this like Independence Day, Jaws or I Know What You Did Last Summer. We borh came up with Lost Boys.
Off the top of my head, I would add The Burbs, Dazed & Confused, T2, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, and I'm sure I could probably think of a handful more.
I feel like 4th of July is the peak and icon of summertime so I think those types of movies are a must! That'd be like making a Christmas movie list with no Christmas movies lol....everyone sees it differently, but I don't get summertime vibes from T2 or Harold and Kumar....even independence day pushed it for me on whether or not it was a summertime vibes movie but it centered on the icon holiday of summer so it is there!

Oh I love My Father, The Hero. Depardieu is also in the original French version, which I still have to check out. Katherine Heigl is amazing. Also was in Under Siege 2 around that time. Summer Rental is super cool. Cool that you worked on American Reunion...Mena Suvari was smoking hot, IMO. She was a fave for me and all those movies give me a summer feel. Eurotrip is freaking great, too. I miss the early 2000s for a surprising amount of sex comedies and the last wave of these we got. I have the Joy Sticks poster on my wall. The pinball arcaded in my hometown screened that at a local cinema here along with Electric Dreams back in March.
Isnt it crazy how like after about 2008-ish, we just stopped getting the old school sex comedy? So disappointing!!!! But when you have physical media, you'll always have those films to go back an enjoy! I actually just watched Joysticks again last night while editing lol
@@AVAPopCulture I know. I actually wrote my MA thesis on the marketing of frat house comedies in 2009, and now we are lucky to see one in a five year span. I think any studio that releases one now will have a monster hit on their hands, even if it a remake of like Animal House.

interesting list! I went more for what gives me the summertime vacation vibes - I dont get that from Scarface or James Bond films - but those are certainly summer blockbuster time films

also, Just Go With It, my favorite Adam Sandler movie! I really wish we got a 4K of it. its Fox so no hope lol
@thelastmoviestanding when he sings "thank heaven for little girls" in that movie and they all think he is a pervert it is so damn hilarious 😂.... I really like most Sandler movies but Just Go with it stands out to me among some of his more recent stuff... We have hope for a 4k now that Sony has licensed everything Disney owned for physical media! including the Fox stuff...so fingers crossed we are going to get a lot from Sony! My guess is that they didn't pay all that money to acquire all of that and then not put it out...especially since they make 4k and blu ray players and tvs - they can create a one-hand-feeds-the-other situation!
@@AVAPopCulture that’s very true. I’m still a little skeptical on what Disney will let Sony release, I heard they still have to approve everything, sony doesn’t get to just release whatever they want. I feel it may only be franchise titles 1st. A lot of studios forget about comedies.
Private Resort has a Blu-ray too but it’s only in a 4pack with other summer movies.
@thelastmoviestanding you're right about comedies being forgotten about...I'm keeping fingers crossed...and as soon as you mentioned that 4pack with private resort, I feel like I remember seeing that packaged kind of a "Fun in the Sun" 4-pack or something like that! Seems like one Vinegar Syndrome could pick up
