I arrived at Patch in June 1972 as an E3 Navy yeoman strIker, assigned to EUCOM J5 in building 2301. At first I lived in barracks 2311 and later in the town of Buesnau. Left in January 1976. as a second class petty officer. It was a good home for three and a half of my coming-of-age years! Thanks for this; very informative. Now I finally know what became of the Buffalo.

I was amazed to find my Patch Barracks briefing on CZcams. I developed it for folks assigned to the US European Command at Patch Barracks, Vaihingen-Stuttgart, Germany to answer many questions about the buildings at Patch and provide the history of the Kaserne's original tenants, the 7th Panzer Regiment. My wife and I left Germany and returned to the US in 2010. - Mike Shanahan

Totally cool that you happened upon this. I worked at J5 (ECCS-OR) from 1999-2001 and may have even met you. Hope you're ok with my publishing it.

I lived in the New Craig area in 90-92. I miss it!

Thanks Mike! I actually have your presentation on a CD ROM - you gave me a copy before you left in 2010. My family and I spent 16 years at Patch Barracks serving EUCOM and AFRICOM. As a coincidence, my dad's infantry division was under GEN Alexander Patch II and dad was the last person to talk to CPT Alexander Patch III before he was KIA just outside the village of Embermenil France in 1944. Hopefully someone figures out exactly what became of the Buffalo! Greg
