- Queen's guitarist Brian May has such a unique sound that this channel might never cover all of it so here's two easy quick tips to get you going.
Sixpences are relatively common and cheaper than normal guitar picks. Visit eBay and you'll find plenty of bulk lots for sale. - Hudba
1. Red Special
2. Treble booster
3. Vox AC30
4. Sixpence
5. Have Brian's fingers ;)
Great as always Tom!!!! Cheers!
You are the best !!!!
It must be your touch Thomas, but you do get the warmest tone I have heard from a BM guitar at full noise, or volume backed off. Nice...& great tips.
If I've anything of value to offer to that tone quest I hope I'll have covered it here already or soon. All the tools are within anyone's reach and I hope everyone who wants it can find it too. I will say based on your comments that the @IKmultimedia Tonex stuff has been a great help for me.
@@ThomasBrunkard You have some great stuff on your channel. I use a Kemper for our live Queen show with brought profiles, some including the BM amp with treble booster. I have found that I have to have the tone control on the guitar down to almost off to get rid of the harsh/brittleness. I have tried to tone match without any success & yes, I have the Ik multimedia VST which does sound less brittle than my Kemper setup. I do get the BM sounds I am after but just lack the warmth. I use the Kemper in my cover band as well paired with an EVH Ernie ball guitar & have a much warmer tone overall. I am about 90% of the way there. :)

I've been using the gold optima strings and the sixpence strips the gold off, so I use a standard celluloid
Controversially, I think the Optima strings are terrible. I use Elixir ones myself and they last for a long time.
Thanks very much for that tip.
Should i change sixpence when the edge becomes smooth?
Yeah, I played with the same coin for like 2 months and the sound was totally different when I changed it
Where did you get your guitar
Long story but if you want to get one like it join the Red Special Forum group on Facebook. Lots of amazing builders there.
