I don't see anything in this about black smoke matters . I thought BSM was a group in the USA, not Australia. This is about Union workers not liking these sub contractors coming in (from what I can tell in this clip). In the USA those are typically called SCABS. When the company gets enough of these subcontractors it'll let all the Union employees go, you know that as well as I do. Typically the reason workers unionize is for a better work environment all around. The Dynamics of Employer/Employee has changed dramatically.... that's why it's not called a "Personal Office" anymore.... we're just a " Human Resource" now.

Nothing wrong with a union as long as it improves the driver's situation. Teaching, I was freaking happy to have that protection. Hiring out is union busting to earn more money on the backs of drivers.
You know, I thought about going to Europe driving (to see Europe) until I found out how little they were actually paid. Just as bad here. I pass often by my old boss's yard and scratch my head at the number of empty and full trailers in his yard, and all the trucks parked. I work on a fine profit line he told me once. I say he undercuts folks to get the work, but can't keep drivers either. Blah, blah. Same old story wha' 😂
