  • What happens when you take a man with a super supportive family, a group of very helpful car buddies, one 1971 Ford Maverick that needs to be brought back to life, add some need for speed - add it all together and you get one bad ass wicked drag car that sounds so rowdy cool! Listen to the owner/builder and driver of this racing machine and hear him tell their story! It's a love affair with his family and his car that you'll love! Watch the whole video and you'll see her go down the track too! The footage was lent to us via a cell phone video taken by one of the many friends at the track but you'll get the idea! Next time you're at one of the local speedways - watch and cheer for Spencer Elliott and his "Stampede" Maverick.

that white paint job with the black pinstripes looks really good on your Maverick. When I was young we also had a 71' Maverick. It wasn't a graber, and just had a straight 6. The Maverick had a grabber green or grabber lime paint job. We had some good times in that Maverick. I actual bought a 21' Ford Mustang last fall. It's got that grabber green/lime color with black pinstripes going across the top. I've been calling it my Mustang Maverick. =)

This is my car, and was asked what it runs off the throttle stop. It runs 10.40’s off the stop.

I'm conflicted about this car, on 1 hand it does my heart good to see an original Maverick brought back to life, BUT on the other hand, it hurts me to the core to see it's been turned into a drag car.
I could post another of my stories but suffice to say, I'd rather have another original Maverick as my daily driver than a "new" Maverick.

What does it run off the stop?
