I have one of the “Old School Build” Love Pedal Zen Drives and compared it to the Zen Drive in my FM9. I was surprised by how similar they sounded. I haven’t played an original Zen Drive yet so don’t know how it compares.

I thought more like a faster version of Freedom by Robben Ford 😊 (the chord progression...)

@@mattiakkanen7866 it sounded similar to Steely Dan's "Peg" or Carlton's "Room 335" to me, but then I'm more familiar with Carlton's music than I am with Robben Ford's.

Instead of stacking drives, I have been messing with adding and controlling the boost via the amp's preamp settings.. has anyone else tried that? Great vid John.

Yes that’s how I run my FM3 mostly to save DSP. It’s quite effective and I like it much better than sorting through a bunch of drive blocks and settings.

I have experimented with the amp's pre-amp section, including drive. It is surprisingly versatile and effective. I don't know how good it is compared to separate drive block, but it's often my first option (to save CPU, if nothing else). Also started playing with it in combo with a drive block, to get subtle combination of effects.

The 2290 in front of the amp does nothing because the out of phase stereo signal is summed to mono.
