- This is the newest member of the Jinhao DADAO fountain pen series; the 9013. I talk about the parts and features of the pen, provide some size comparisons and measurements, and then do a writing sample. After the writing sample, I talk about what I like and what I don't like about the pen. Please feel free to use the chapters provided below to skip to various parts of the review.

Enjoyed the demo on removing baby’s bottom. It was very helpful. Nice video. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Me too just got my jinhao 9019 for 5$ and it was skipping a lot more than my pilot kakuno f nib but in a very wierd way that's my 2nd fountain pen so im gonna try that out!
What a coincidence, I recently ordered a 9019 with a heartbeat nib from Allie Express and Pelikan Edelstein Golden Lapis from Cult Pens. I keep giving away my 9019 pens when trying to penable others. I’m glad to see you’re doing better. I channeled energy to you last night and still felt some bad stuff, so I know you’re not fully recuperated yet. Thanks for recording this video, we appreciate your efforts.
That's awesome, Oscar! Thank you. Yes, not 100% yet, but better.
Thanks for showing the micromesh baby's bottom run through again, I remember getting rid of the baby's bottom on my Kaweco Supra last year with your older video about the smoothing process. That saved me the nibmeister fee on that one. So newer Chinese nibs have that too, interesting.
Glad I could help!
I have the 9019 in a number of colors. They're great pens. My 9016 is waiting to be inked. I will likely get one of these as well. It looks like another great pen in the series.
I got 2 9019s and they are my favorite pen of all time now 😅
Great review as always Thanks
Very nice review, and I always love a few moments with Niles Crane!😊
The best!
Excellent sir. Thank you for showing the how to fix a "baby's bottom".
Glad to help
Bros review is super 👍🏻🔥🔥
And the tips to get rid of baby's bottom really helpful.
I hope you're feeling better.
Yes! Thank you!
The guitar is back!!
Yay!
Gorgeous ink by the way!
I have three 9019 and two 9016. Having large hands my best choice is the 9019. Two of them carry the Heartbeat nib and the other the regular nib. Both nibs came well tuned out of the box or bubble wrap. No sign of baby's bottom. In my case, both nibs were smoother and more consistent than the regular nibs so I use them regularly. I have no complaints in this regard. All my Dadao's get heavy use and so far they are holding up well.
For the price you pay I would not hesitate to purchase a 9013 or either of the other two models.
Very good vídeo as usual.
Keep up!
I could care less about the pens you review, I come for the Fraser episodes, especially the LOW FAT LATTE kind. Keep up the good work on low cost pens from Jinhao. I now have several in my collection.
I have the 9016 with a Heartbeat nib. It was the only way to purchase it at the time.
Mine is very, very wet. It writes more like a broad than a fine.
I am waiting for the 9013. I am going to seal the gate and use it as an eyedropper. I am not a fan of the standard converter, though I love the one in the 9016 and 9019.
Thanks for how to get rid of baby's bottom. My Pelikan M800 has the same issue with baby's bottom. I may try your method.
Thumbs up for the clip from Frasier!
I'm glad my mom didn't know about the mesh trick when I was a baby 😁
LOL
Love the TWSBI reference it happened on an ALR580 barely used so that's like 10 Jinhao 9013 🙂
Thanks, Doug! Smaller but not thin, that's good. I had the bb problem on my 9016 was able to fix it. Yes, nothing special about the
"heartbeat" nib beyond the ekg nib slit. Cheers!
Thanks David!
Using your idea, I swapped a standard nib, and put a Heartbeat nib into my 9019.
Awesome!
Super helpful showing the BB fix Doug. Your videos have given me the confidence to work on my pens and as a result I have been able to acquire some VERY nice vintage pens at affordable prices. Assuming the process is the same for a tipped gold nib?
Yes. Gold or steel, the tipping is relatively the same material.
Thanks, Doug, I have one on order! So glad you're on the mend. Where can I get #6 stub nibs? Maybe I can find an old Jowo or Bock in my craft hoard.
You can get Goulet #6 stubs in 1.1 and 1.5mm. They are Jowo nibs. www.gouletpens.com/collections/replacement-nibs/products/goulet-6-steel-nib-gold-new?variant=39335948615723
Here is an update. I received the 9013. I converted it to an eyedropper. It holds about 3.75ml of ink! It should last me throughout the summer and a bit longer. The converter still rattles using the standard Jinhao converter and it doesn't have the ink capacity of the 9016 or the 9019.
The price of the pen is extremely reasonable. Nice in the hand. The Heartbeat nib is still wet but now I have enough ink to go with this wet writer
Wonderful! Thanks for the update!
More than a feeling?
Nice small pen!
Yes!
The fix for baby's bottom work easily and well, which leads me to ask if you know of any method for repairing a hair line crack in the plastic section of my Platinum 3776. I have not been able to find a place to purchase a new section and thought that you might know an alternative approach. If not, I will just have to purchase a new pen. Thank you for the assistance.
It is fixable, but you need to know how to do MEK welding. This is a technique I am aware of, but cannot do myself.
Interesting video, especially how to fix baby bottom.
Thanks for watching!
I wonder if that o-ring fix would also apply to a Platinum 3776, I'm going to have to give that a try. Converter rattle bugs me more than it probably should, it's the only thing I don't love about that pen.
If you get the right size it might.
I've solved issue with 3776 by wrapping some scotch tape around the end part of the converter. Solved instantly.
I'm here for the TWSBI shade lol
LOL
Hey Doug,
Is there a Jinhao 1935 in the post for which we can expect a review soon?!
Yup!
Nice pen ,though the heart beat nib will be less wet then the normal nib as the capillary is less due to the design on the heart beat nib
I haven’t seen that effect.
nice tricks
Thanks!
Every song on that album kicks asdh.
One of the best debut albums ever!
What ink and pen is that on the title card?
J Herbin Kyanite du Nepal
Hi Doug, hope that you're fully recovered from your Covid bout! I just wanted to mention a point about the Jinhao Dadao models. The 2016 does indeed have a supersized converter, but it's proportional to the model. Both the girth and the length are slightly less that the one used in the 9019. I give some measurements in this particular video: czcams.com/video/lMdGDeOGvUA/video.html All the best, Norman
Cool, thanks!
Nice to see you're on the mend! 🩷🙏🙌 I think I'll pass on this one. Not a blue in sight! I have the Momento Zeros, Furores and even some Labans in mind. ☺️
The new Laban are nice.
