I would like to reach out and thank you for doing this. It is very generous of people like you to put these things up. I had a single bum note in one of these and your video got the keys out for me way faster. You are right, the hammer action is much easier than the organ action. I had to remove the whole keybed assembly from the base chassis in order to get the keys out perfectly. The contacts on the PC board under the rubber boot can be cleaned very carefully with an eraser and then you with a pencil draw over or colour in over the PC Pads carefully. The little circular contacts inside the top part of the rubber boot can also be carefully cleaned with the eraser and then the pencil drawing over for a thin coat of lead. If the rubber boot is damaged it should be replaced of course. But for this one note works a treat perfectly now. I must say its one of the nicest keyboards I have played in a while too. The whole instrument is very nicely built as well.
Once again thanks. And great to see you have got Syncopation for the Modern Drummer on your stand back there! :)

I am so glad that you did this video. I watched the other guy you were talking about and he did an excellent job. But...I needed to do the same thing you had to do to your Nord. Worked perfect. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the video! It’s always useful to see someone already done something you might have to do in the future. The HP has a weird key feeling for me... Is the contact replacement change the key feeling at all?

Thank you so much! I have never done anything like this before.
No, changing the contact strip does not change the feel of the action. In my experience even very well used contact strips have exactly the same degree of response as a new one. If there is a difference I would imagine to be imperceptible. Aloha!

Michael, thank you so much for posting this video! I have a Nord Electro 4HP that's been sitting unused for >1 year because it slowly went from one dead key to 4-5 dead keys which at that point made it basically unplayable because all the dead keys were in the most played central portion of the keyboard. I'm assuming it's due to bad contacts (from my limited research). I've been substituting an old Yamaha S90 for the Nord in my keyboard set-up, but I've finally got enough motivation to attempt a replacement of the contacts. I have watched the other older video you mentioned about replacing the contacts on a Electro 3, but it's great having your info on the breakdown specifically for the 4HP. One question...is there a particular brand or source of the contacts that you recommend?

FYI the 13th contact pad is because most keyboards end with a high-c. It would be a huge PITA if you had to buy an octave for that one key. This is the first instruction video I have seen where the repair was reenacted on top of the device rather than done on the actual components.

Where did you buy those rubber contacts? What are they called - have the same issue as you but don’t know where to purchase. Thanks!

Also interested in where you purchased the contact strip if you have that information.

Do you have a link for the 3 that you refer to?
