SANTA CRUZ MEGATOWER V2 ON XC TRAILS? | FIRST RIDE 2023

- This is my first ride of 2023 with the Santa Cruz Megatower and decided to see how it handles mellow terrain so we took in on some local xc trails. Today is also the first ride for my son on his 2022 Marin Alpine Trail XR.

It looks like you had a nice ride, and your Santa Cruz Megatower performed very well, bumps, what bumps? LOL!!! I was faced with the same question on what type of bike to get so I ended up getting the Santa Cruz Hightower, it's not exactly a trail bike, and it's not exactly an enduro bike, it's something in between because within a 5 hour drive radius from where I live the trails are basically XC trails for the most part, but the Hightower is always ready for some downhill action. I knew you would love your new bike! Great first ride of 2023!

I've taken my WR1 Arrival 170 at the school board a few times already. No problems at all.
It's definitely way more fun at horseshoe bike park but it does the job right ?
I’m still rocking the V1 mega. I demoed a V2. Felt like the V1 sits in between the Hightower and V2. More of an all arounder. Definitely not as plush downhill as the new V2.
I didn't get the chance to ride the V1 but I have to say I love the V2 and for me it feels like a good all arounder. That being said I mostly ride downhill and it really seems to shine there but at the same time it works for the occasional mellow trail . Any plans to upgrade to the V2 or do you still love the V1? @@MoreToysMoreNoise If I get another SantaCruz Im leaning towards a Bronson or Hightower. I just don’t hit the bike park enough for the V2. Awesome bike though.

I went for a v3 Hightower on the basis I'd be wanting to ride more trails and a bit of XC, but visit a bike park every couple of months... now I'm on the fence as to whether I should have got the v2 Mega instead
I can't speak for the Hightower but it's supposed to be a do everything bike , for me I do 90% bike park and for the few times I do XC it can do that no problem but it's very much at home in the gnarliest terrain which is where I like to be , cheers
@@MoreToysMoreNoise so actually me being the opposite ratio the Hightower might well be my best option. As long as I've got the right tyres on for bike parks maybe the 145mm travel is just about enough... thanks for your reply.
