Is an LED Light Bar the answer for first lighting upgrade on your Jeep?In this video we upgrade and transform the AutoEdit Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JKU with a complete set of LED lights from the JW Speaker catalog of awesome products!
You can find the best deal on these lights right here on the AutoEdits Amazon page!!!!!

JW Speaker offers the best LED upgrade lights on the market and not only does everything installed in this video look and feel top quality... everything was genuinely a plug and play situation.
It does not require any special tools or mechanical skill to do all of the replacements shown here.
I highly recommend the JW Speaker 8700 J2 headlights be the very first light upgrade to any Jeep! They will make the single biggest difference in your night driving experience.
Second in importance would be the 6145 LED Jeep Fog Lights. They offer an amazing amount of fill right in front of the vehicle.
Next up would be the 279 LED Tail lights. They are very good looking and offer an upscale look to the Jeep as well as the added visibility of the much brighter LED blades.
Finally, I liked the front LED turn signals because... well, they just look fantastic and really tie the front of the Jeep together.

Jason thanks for the videos. I am currently a new Jeep owner and working on my upgrades really interested in the lights. I enjoy your videos and is helping while I'm learning to do my own wrench turning. Look forward to your next video. Again thanks!
Love hearing this, thanks so much and happy that you are getting out to tinker on your Jeep!
I’ve been waiting for you specifically to make this video! I love the quality of your videos and you explain everything so well! Thank you!
Jason....Thank you. I've been researching for a long time and going back and forth on which LED setup I wanted to get for my 15 Rubicon U. Your detailed and unbiased review turned me toward JW Speaker. My hesitation was the high cost, but you're correct...you do get what you pay for. With a little great timing, I just found that quadratec currently a sale on JW Speaker through the end of March...I saved over $450 on buying the same set up you install in this video...Thank you!
Outstanding suggestion!! Just ordered my JW Speaker lights for my lifted 2013 Rubicon JK with 35s. I have always HATED the stock lights. Can't wait to experience the difference. AND love love love your channel. Always GREAT ideas. Thank you.
I hope you like them as much as I legit love these things! Thank you so much for the support and taking a minute to send a great comment!
We want those tail lights Jason! We bought our first Jeep in January of this year. Your video on the 3 must have upgrades for Jeeps is actually the first video we stumbled across. We have been hooked ever since. Thanks for what you do and keep putting out videos!
Man you’ve done such a great job with your Jeep, I remember seen your first video when you changed the exhaust and seeing it now it’s whole different beast... thumbs up brother
Just ordered the JW Speaker 8700 J2 headlights for my Jeep. Took a predawn ride to a trailhead yesterday and just confirmed to me I needed an upgrade bad! Hope you get some residual for using your amazon store. Looking forward to getting them installed. Love your channel and content. Always a must watch! Cheers!
Good choice! I REALLY appreciate you going to the AutoEdits amazon store... every little bit does help so THANK YOU!
I just got my first 2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport on my birthday at the end of February, started looking for videos on how to modify my girl and found your channel! I love everything that you’ve published and I’ve watched a lot of your videos.
Howdy and welcome to the Jeep life!!! So happy that you are here, don't even hesitate to ask questions as you go along... I respond to all my old videos and my email is autoedits@gmail.com So don't ever feel alone!
Wow! I really love your jeep build. All your mods are costing me money as well lol. I have installed the 3.5 gamechanger suspension and just ordered these lights as well! Keep on building!
Sorry, not sorry! LOL!
I use to watch the show "trucks" alot on tv and this reminds me of it lol Im surprised you only have 89k subscriber, keep up the great work!
It's because of my looks... maybe I'll get a hair transplant and do some push-ups or something...lol
Thanks so much for the shout!
O Devious m
Great show Jason. Just binge watched entire series over last 5 days. Well done Sir.
Welcome and thanks so much !!!!!!
I’m hoping to get my first Jeep in couple months or so, and I’m so glad I found this channel! So much good info, and I can’t wait to upgrade my Jeep! I’m getting it stock, so I have lots to do😂
Howdy and Jeep wave 👋
I’m subbed to a lot of CZcams channels and don’t always watch every video they upload, but I never miss an autoedit video.
You are the bestest!!!!! Thank you thank you!
@@AutoEdits It happens to me that I step on the brake and at the same time the turn and only marks the brake. is there a way to fix it?
Lol I used to have those same vans. Keep up the good work Jason, the whole JW package is a real nice touch and objectively a better upgrade.
Good spot! LOL
Dude, those blinkers. Straight Fire. def adding them. I did the JW headlights last year. thanks man. keep's coming
I'm not even surprised you already have the headlights... you got that impeccable taste thing on all your projects!!! LOL
thanks for all the videos! love this channel, and I am always getting great ideas from watching!
INSTANT THUMBS UP!! The video I’ve been waiting for you to do! Sweet upgrade!!
So glad to hear this! Thanks for watching!
Thanks man, this video was very helpful and well done. Got my LED's in and running like a champ.
Great, now you are ready to get out there and blind other driver's! Thanks asshole!
My first mode that I made to my JK, was upgrading lights to JW Speaker, they are awesome!
Why didn't you tell me sooner... LOL!!!!
Lights look great. Wish I could afford them. Top of the line for sure
Got to love it when when things you add not only look better but function better too!
You got that right!!!
Man I love your Jeep and your channel. Man that Jeep is so sharp!!
Thanks so much dude!
Watching this instructional video means J.E.E.P. as I already installed the JWs (J2+6145) last month but now I have to get the turn signals.....just because. Nice upgrade!
HA! Sorry not sorry... LOL! That's the only reason I ordered them... they look soooo cool!
Quality of those videos is magnificent. You are very entertaining. Pinto gives this videos cute vibes :) I always wait for next video:)
Extra scratches for Pinto the Dog!!!! Thank you!
@@AutoEdits It happens to me that I step on the brake and at the same time the turn and only marks the brake. is there a way to fix it?
Yes....I couldn’t wait for this!
Sooo Im a brand new JK sahara 2018 owner OMG I wish I would have purchased this vehicle years ago. Luv my Jeep Thank you so much for your videos very informative and I was looking for LED headlights definitely will purchase these.
your videos help me a lot on the mods I could do on my jeep! Love it!
Glad to hear that! Thanks so much for the support!
Jason- some day when I grow up, I want to be just like you! Thanks for make such great videos!
HAHAHA! Dude, the things I've learned chasing you around... come on! Let's do something again soon!
CZcams dint tell me you had a new video until today! Great upgrade! I got some JW speaker lights for my BMW E30. They weren't quite plug and play like yours, but the result is the same. Excellent light output with a nice cutoff.
Hey wait a minute.... you think I can adapt a set of JW's for my Mustang project??? Thanks for the idea!
Im sure you could. I had a problem with the JWs being deeper on the back than the ones on the BMW. I had to buy a couple of their brackets instead of using the stock headlight bucket and modify it to fit. Turned out well and as you know the light output is amazing.
I have a 2015 JK. I opted for the KC Gravity Pro headlights. Also have their cube lights in both the front and rear bumper. I love them and their warranty is 23 years with no questions asked! I know because I had one headlight go out. They sent a replacement but then didn't color match the remaining light. Sent me a new pair! I have paw print covers over my tail lights so I left those stock...these JW ones are pretty awesome though.
You need to upgrade your hood latches my friend. But always a pleasure to watch your videos! One of my favorite CZcamsrs! Love the JK build series!! Keep the videos coming please
HA! Thanks so much for the support and yes... you definitely are right in calling me out on those awful hood latches.
I really thank you for this video. We drove home in the dark on a country road with lots of deer. I am going to check these lights out. Wow, I may have to save up for a while.
I recommend getting a high quality light... the cheap ones you might find are not good.
@@AutoEdits I know but a thousand bucks for 2 headlights is a bit steep
Thank you for cleaning off the bucket around the break light! ✊
Your Welcome! LOL
I like your vids cause title I'm just like eh anyone can install headlights or in general of you installing something. But then your also full of cool information to nice to know about. That's what keeps me watching
Love this! Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to share a supportive comment!
Another great video! I always thought it would be more difficult than you made it look.
It's really easy!
Great to see a new video Thank you!! Awesome job.👍
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Awesome video...I am definitely going with these for my JK. THANKS!!
Glad to hear that, thanks so much for watching and saying hey!
Man you getting the best stuff I like
What an awesome upgrade and yes I agree with you that replacing the stock stuff first is better. I went with KC Hilites for headlights and fog lights because I liked the color and light spread more but I definitely agree with the JW tail lights of which I did to.
Thanks dude! Yeah those tail lights are just great.
The headlights is a 100% must buy, Ive had mine for years and they are amazing.. fog lights arent a big deal though its just nice because they match, I just got the tail lights too after using a cheaper brand for a year and them not working when it rains.. driving on the freeway with no rear blinker in the rain is not fun, lesson learned on cheap tail lights
Jeep looks awesome. You've done a job job on it.
Thanks! I’m so happy with it so far!
That looks great
I have these and they are the best upgrade PERIOD
I agree!
"John Galt" - that's awfully presumptuous, LOL!
Pinto lights up the video.....:-) nice install, supper cool lights.....
I see what you did there..."Pinto lights up the video..." Love it!
Funny! Quadratec just had a package deal for all of the lights up front and I got mine in the mail yesterday. Already have the tail lights and am upgrading headlamps from a set of Trucklites
That is funny to hear about a package deal... would've liked to have known a bit sooner...lol I cant even tell you how happy I am with this stuff... very good! Enjoy your install as well!
I have all the same stuff minus the turn signals and fogs. Have Rugged ridge in the bumper. They're insanely bright. HUGE upgrade compared to stock. I have a nice set of cube lights on the pillars that fill in the gap.
I would suggest double pillar lights. I aim my bottom pillar lights 90 degrees to the sides and the top pillar lights at 45 degrees. It gives an incredible sweep of light. I have fog and spots on the bumper and a light bar up top. My rear bumper has two floods and two additional at 45 degrees. I have two-way rocker switches that allow me to control the forward lights with the high-beam switch, or manually.
Great video! Keep it up. See you on the trails
Thanks this video made me go by all of these and followed the install from here. Love them
Awesome!!! I love to hear that and hope you enjoy the process as much as I did... plus I'm still stoked on the performance of this stuff. How about you?
AutoEdits performance is great and better then better then I could have hoped. Install was fun also.
Yes! Been waiting for this one
ME TOO!!!
i dig all your vids man. thanks so much for the info and insight
Thank you!
Great install. Good looking rig
Thanks! I like the way it's coming out.
I put the rugged ridge hood latches on my rig n it makes a huge difference on the highway. I would definitely recommend doing it to yours as well!
Great suggestion!
Great upgrade Jason! I’ll have to do that to my 2015 JK I just bought last week! I’m looking forward to doing a lift and 35” tires. Thank you for all the great videos! By the way, I’ve moved back to Alberta Canada... it’s time to make some money!! Take care ! Mike
Howdy! I still have to get up to Alberta for a visit... looks beautiful up there. Welcome to the Jeep JK club!
Great video man. I'm thinking of upgrading my 2018 Rubicon to LED headlights
I am really happy with this upgrade... hang on a week or two and JW Speaker is coming out with an updated version of this setup!
Mr. Jason with your OCD cleaning of every nook and cranny on your beloved Jeep. I saw a dirty engine bay. How dare you... 😉. Love the upgrades! I've been considering a couple JW upgrades myself.
HA! Busted... yeah I haven't cleaned the engine from the last trip to Death Valley and am over due!
Sweet upgrade! I would use some torx screws or something on the tail lights to deter them from growing legs and walking off.
Great suggestion!
Got J2s a few months ago, and they are definitely worth it.
I agree 100%
Oh heck yeah JW speakers are the best! Great color choice
Thanks! Yeah, I thought the texture might look good and it does!
autoedit Yeah the black housing on a Jeep looks way better than the original chrome housing.
Love your videos! Produced very well, great content and how to on a lot of items. I checked out your links and this is definitely a very pricey upgrade...~$1500. Wow, seemed like a great advertisement for very high end and expensive lighting solution. Struggling with this one as it seems there would be some more affordable alternatives without giving up your first born. Again...love your videos.
You get what you pay for.
Great instructions, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Great videos man. Thanks
Thank you!
Super i have buy them. Thanks and greets from Belgium Antwerp
Glad you like them! Howdy from California!
question on the turn signal replacement you used..is it the clear or the smoked version? and what's. the difference? Good stuff, thanks for the content!!
Great vid - thanks for sharing! Can you please share which bumper/winch combo and tires you're running?
czcams.com/video/WHzIgT4KqXI/video.html
I use a superchip tuner and there is an option to set your fog lights to stay on with high beams. And the jeep looks great!
Thanks, it looks like that might be the one I might go with!
The only time I wish I had a light bar on top of the window was when I was bombing through the sand dunes at night when it requires SO MUCH LIGHT to see into the distance. I have an insane amount of light with just upgraded headlights, front pods on the bumper, and well positioned KC Cyclones around the Jeep. No problem seeing anything when on a trail.
I like the Cyclones... looking in to those as an option.
Careful... they are addictive. I have 18 installed now for various reasons hahhaa!
I would highly recommend you check out Lazer lamps, they are led light bars that focus the light only where you need it. They are small bars but they sure produce a lot of light. Their triple r light bar series would look awesome on your front bumper centered.
Awesome, thanks!
Funny as hell! Love these videos.
Thanks for the support!!!
There nice! Your a lucky man. I’m jealous
Very nice upgrades. Our 2017 wrangler has the Mopar LED headlights. They are a huge improvement also over the base lights. I have always wanted the JW tail lights. They are slick looking! Its too bad they aren't plug and play too. Still a great upgrade though. Thanks for the video!
Those Mopar lights are good looking units! I would say the tail lights are plug and play... having to mount the resistor external is just to keep it cooler and is extremely easy... still no extra harness or other wiring to mess with.
Thanks so much for the comment!
Got yourself a new Subscriber buddy awesome videos sick JK!!! 👌🏻 just got a 15 last weekend let the upgrades begin 😂
Welcome and Howdy! Prepare to spend all you money and time on your Jeep...LOL
AutoEdits tell me about it 1 week today and I already spend $500 😂 next thing is a lift with 35”s
So wanting new tail lights. Factory are adequate but really need to upgrade to LED's Great videos, trying to stay in a budget but dang it! its hard to! LOL
Damnit, I already have Rigid Industries. Guess I’ll pony up for these. Built in anti-flicker won me over.
The Rigid is one of the other companies I would use... I like them a bunch for the auxiliary lights!
The Rigid is one of the other companies I would use... I like them a bunch for the auxiliary lights!
Great video I love my lights your Jeep looks great have a good one 🇺🇸👍👍🚙
Thanks and you have a good one as well!
I currently have the J1 headlights and while I love the output, I think I may go to a Trucklite for the more traditional look. I'm still on the fence, though.
Great video. Love your Dog. I have the JW speaker headlights and I love them. Thinking of upgrading the rest. Did I understand correctly on the taillights that the resistor clips to the sheet metal? No drilling needed? Are the clips included?
Howdy and thanks... pats for Pinto the Dog! Yes, the tail lights come with everything you see and are so easy to install. Literally took 10 minutes and I love the look!
i love your videos
Thanks so much!
Always loved the clean look of the JW tail lights just been out of my price range for upgrades to the jeep but man I would be so stoked to get a set and have that perfect clean look of black tail lights to accent the hyper green jku. Good luck to all the commenters but pick me please lol🤙🏼
That looks awesome. I had a windshield light bar on my Jeep for all of about 2 days. I couldn't take the noise that it made. Are you going to do some more videos like the Miller Jeep Trail? I would love to see some more off road videos from you.
So glad to hear this... yes I would like to do more off road adventure videos!
You need something like the TrailDash2 that allows you to keep your fog lights on when you turn the brights on. I have JW Speaker headlight and fog lights and the TrailDash2 and it's nice to have the fogs with the brights, the fogs light up the ground close to the Jeep all the way across the road giving you much more field of view, but only for a little distance.
I agree! Thanks for the suggestion!
My rigid e2 series light bar sounds like a jet engine taking off but bright as hell. The light comes with these things that goes on the fins of the light bar to keep it quiet I only get a whistle when it’s super windy. I also have all jw speaker lights on my jeep absolutely love them. Also for rock lights I recommended KC Cyclones I have the 6 piece set and love it but I’m going to add 2 more to the front.
Thanks for the honest input and great suggestion for the rock lights!
autoedit you’re welcome love your videos and the quality of them
I’m curious to know what your gas mileage is, love your jeep! 🤘🏻
You're killin' me Smalls... Been following you're upgrade path on my JKU. Already have the Trucklites though, so I'm gonna be a little different. What do ya want for your old tails? Haha
Can't wait to see what's next!
hi with the jw tail lights any moisture get in,i live in new york with a'lot of snow would you advise getting them, thank you your videos are always informative
Not at all. They have been solid.
nice video,subbed!
Welcome! And Thanks!
Hey Jason great install👍🏽 I have the Jw speaker j series headlights and just installed the j2 series fogs on my 2014 JKU! Have you figured out how to keep the fogs on with the high beams?
Not yet... but there have been many comments that the SuperChips tuner allows that... I just haven't gotten around to buying one like that yet!
AutoEdits oh too bad I have the AEV ProCal I don’t think it has that option! Thanks anyways keep up with the awesome videos your Jeep is awesome 👍🏽
I'm here waiting for the A/M world to get caught up on the JLU. :)
You should check out the ProComp headlights. I'm very impressed by their performance and they don't break the bank.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm pretty happy so far with these but I do appreciate that they are pricey.
Excellent video I love the tail lights they are fantastic... Do you have a link in your description for the teail lights...?
In the description.
Love your channel. I just bought some JW Speaker tail lights and I'm getting quite a bit of condensation in one of them. Did you ever have a problem with that? They say on their website that it's "normal.".
Their customer service is amazing... take some photos and ask them!
jw turn signals come in three color, yours are not amber for sure but are those clear or smoked?
Great video! You can set the fogs on manual control using the SuperChips Flash Cal. J.W Speaker makes some great products and they are top tier, but I do have to disagree that they are the best on the market. They are close and very hard to beat, but I personally wouldn't call them the best. Again, awesome video and quality products!
Well, ok. Thanks so much for the comment and the watch!
Did you have to adjust your headlights? I bought them and have bright spots even though I've adjusted them.
Jason, have you had any issues with error codes involving the control circuit being high? Your lights look great. Did you do any adjustment to the ECU? The stock lights on your JK were halogen (like my original headlights). I have been having a difficult time with my KC Hilites headlights triggering error codes, and after awhile they stop working. Today, I heard that I may need to have the ECU reprogrammed.
I am supplementing my comment. After struggling for over a year with my KC Hilites LEDs, I reached a couple of knowledgeable people at KC Hilites who told me that there is a problem between the ECU and the LEDs. They suggested that I talk with Jeep, so I talked to two dealer service departments. They told me that they could reprogram my ECU, which may eliminate the error codes. Well, last week I took my Jeep to a Jeep dealer and they reprogrammed my ECU to accept LED lights. It has been a week, and I have no error codes. I am cautiously optimistic. FYI, it cost me $135 to have the reprogramming done.
If you get a traildash 2 you can run the fogs and high beams at the same time.
Also, how are the reverse lights? I have the same headlights and fogs and I’m super happy with them. Been thinking about getting the taillights but am really hoping I can see a lot better when backing up.
They are noticeably better as reverse lights but if you want real improvements I think actually mounting a light back there is the way to go.
Thanks for the suggestion. May i ask what kind of bumper that is and where to get it?
Sure thing... that's the Metalcloak front bumper.
Are you planning to upgrade your steering box at some point? I’ve heard that running 37s that is one component that is in danger of failing unless you upgrade it. I’m not even sure where to start on that and I’d love to see a video from you on the subject.
I know lots of people running stock steering boxes with big tires. For the kind of off roading I do, it will be fine for a while.
Awsome upgrade! Now; do a trip.
I am going to run the Rubicon Trail next month so... Yeah Buddy!!!! Going to be a great video!
autoedit Aww, the envy is real. Hope you will have a blast!
I love JWS! I’ve always wondered about the turn signals... they don’t look any brighter. Is that just the video or are they actually / functionally brighter?
Yes, they are brighter and more vibrant than stock.
This is the first time we see under the hood! Do you have a K&N CAI? I imagine that helps make your rig sound so awesome?
I do have the K&N drop in filter and like it very much.
