- In this short video I will show you that the design tools are just that - they're not the most important thing you need to master. Designing is all about your eye, your mind and your hand working together to create the best possible user experience. That's why I'm doing a mobile app UI design in a ... Word processor - Apple Pages.
Of course it's limited, and of course it's not a professional design tool, but you can achieve good effects based on this simple tutorial if you continue in any design tool of your choice. So let's learn some UI design together!

Hello! Just !a heads-up. It is easy to change the radius of a rounded rectangle in pages. Just tweak the little green handle near the top left corner, and the radius changes.
So making different size rectangles with the same corner radius is easy-peasy!
waiting :)
You can change the corners of the rectangle shown at 1:02. Drag the blue dot that is just right of the upper left hand corner handle.
In the next episode: UI Design in MS Paint?
Tempting 😎
@@MalewiczHype do it pls :D
Totally agree with you! It's about the techniques and the years of practice to know what is considered nice and what's not (although I'm still far from that). Thankfully for your videos, I'm slowly getting there!
Right on! It gets easier with every rectangle moved to a new position :-)
Where from the song in the end? What is it name?
This is called ‘resourcefulness’😊
I want to try and show people that it's really not about the tools, as I see too many designers saying Figma this, or XD that ... it doesn't matter which one you use :)
@@MalewiczHype Definitely! 🙌
I'm just about to go to ACCD for interation design courses, and I decide to buy a new laptop for study and design internships in bay area. However, I'm not used to the MAC OS, so is Windows PC acceptable for UX Design jobs? Or is a Macbook necessary for a UX designer?
Yes, Windows is just fine - Figma and XD are available for it. The Mac has a couple exclusive apps but they can be replaced with Windows alternatives.
@@MalewiczHype Thanks a lot! May I ask what do you think is the best UI motion design tool? AE or Principle? I'm not sure if Figma+AE can totally replace Sketch+Principle.
@@MalewiczHype Thanks for your kind advice. May I ask what do you think is the best motion design tool, AE or Principle? I want to replace Sketch+Principle with Figma+AE, is this a good plan?
AE is very powerful, but it's oriented to a much broader spectrum of uses - not only UI animation. Principle is more focused on design animations than making advertisements or other animated things. But in the end you can do great stuff in both :)
Before real UX tools, InDesign was the go-to for wireframes.
Many people also used Fireworks, and nearly everyone around me used PowerPoint.
Next step: Try to make UI in TextEdit :>
Haha, tempting!
