Country vs country wars on this scale and with so little cause have never existed again due to the fact that the people saw the idiocy of it when it was over. May we never forget the 14 million men in uniform who lost their lives without just cause so that we may never be damned to repeat it!

1:35 That face gets me everytime. The cavalry lieutenant's face has a petrified expression. His eyes are watering with fear. That is the face of someone who knows he is going to die regardless. He never is gonna get away from that battlefield, he isn't coming home, he isn't seeing his wife and children again. It gives me goosebumps
You really can see where Tolkien gets that line he has Faramir say, "Enemy? His sense of duty was no less than yours I deem. I wonder now, who was he, where did he come from, what lies or threats led him from home and would he not rather have stayed there...in peace. War will make corpses of us all."
how to tell if the clip is movie or wartime footage:
if the soldiers look at the camera - wartime footage
if the soldiers are all looking away from the camera - wartime footage
if the camera is far away and stays far away from the object of interest - wartime footage
if the shot is clear, if the camera is moving from far away to close up, if the camera is in motion at all, if the soldiers don't seem to notice a big camera in their face - movie

My great grandfather fought at Passchendaele, with the anzacs...
One day he was delivering shells to the men at the arty cannons, with his squad. He was a gunner, and a shell hit his trench (HE I believe?,) according to him it: "light the entire place up, and then when it cleared, the men that were once his squadmates, some even friends. Were nothing but corpses, or human beings that looked nothing like a person." (He apparently said that, very, very somberly...) he survived the war, injured but recovered after physio, met my great grandmother and had 2 children, (my grandfather, who fought in wwII, and grandaunt who's currently 93.) Pops passed away aged 85, he died in 1981.

A few years ago, someone asked me once whether I'd want to be 100 years in the past or 100 years in the future. I can't decide which would be worse.
I would choose 100 years in the past. The past is always better than the future. So many great things to come. Well... after WW2 of course. I would gladly fight in the trenches of WW I to prevent a world full of social media and digital crap that we have today poisoning our minds.

My heart hurt so much seeing the realization on this soldier face. Yes this is an scene of a movie but i am certain lots of soldiers where filled by regret and inminet dread.
I think i should join the army, And see if my face will regret it.
The Germans had this look that was meant to scare and intimidate their opponents. In watching this I couldn’t help but think of Grandfather fighting Grandfather as I have Both English and German ancestry.
Their uniform also showed a strict dedication to order. But most notably that it was nicely efficient. Each man had decent quality gear. Beautiful life-saving thick coats.
I'll always be p*ssed at how poor our British soldiers were equipped! Tin pot hat that doesn't even cover the temples. Thin pauper's shirt and trousers. I dread to investigate our boots...
Yet in this p*ss-poor state, we "had" to fight this war... Against 'Germany!' no less. WTF were our Brass thinking?! "Oohh I wanna play with muh battleships!" … Treacherous swine! May history curse their names!
Why Thelies The Boots were similar to the Brogans from the American Civil War. The Enfield Rifle MK4 on the other hand was a beautiful weapon. I have a MK 4. it however is a snipers variant. Made at London Arms.

This is a great video! Personally I like Knight SGC's video for the song. But i'm bias because I've been a fan of his for awhile, but besides his video this is by far the best of the fan-made music videos I've seen of this song.

I loved the video and honestly think you should have stuck more with the real footage from They Shall Not Grow Old and other colorized film. Those scenes had so much more impact for me because it was their lives that were being used in the "Great War."

They're dangerous to society because they are the ones that will cause history to repeat itself over and over again because the new generations forgot why history is important, why it is important to remember the horrible things that have happened in the past that we must make our best efforts to make sure that it doesn't happen again.
If we forget it all, how can we even stop it from happening all over again? What are schools for other than to teach about everything, even horrible events from history? It has value. And I'm going to make people realize this if I so have to smash a history book into their face repeatedly. Those who refuse to learn willingly, must be forced to learn so it sticks with them regardless if they want it or not. If they don't want to learn, MAKE them learn. History is too valuable to let it slip away like that because of some moronic fools' feelings not to get hurt. History is more important than human emotions. The great war was terrible but it gave us the stories of the bravest soldiers who fought till the end
This is good but your sound editing needs some work. This is a music video, so remove the background noises and let the images speak for themselves. Your video editing is nice though, especially that small scene at the end. However the music of that clip contrast the tune of the song so I suggest cut it short at 4:53, cut out the sound and add ambient noises of a battlefield then fade to black.
Hope this'll help and keep up the good work.
I don't mind the muted sound behind the song, it actually blends well.
I think hearing the cannon/artillery fire in the background of the music is not bad.
It creates a “good” atmosphere. Well a atmosphere of war but it's suitable.
But the overlap of the ending music and the orchestral music at the end of this video does not sound so great as you already said.

As the Fallout 4 quote might suggest, some things about war never change. But warFARE itself changes in the sense of the way they are fought. All wars before the rise of the gun as the primary weapon of every soldier were fought with sticks(spears), swords, axes, maces, hammers and all kinds of melee weapons. Missiles became paramount weapons once they became available. Machine guns, LMGs, SMGs and assault rifles all became important weapons of war for every soldier in the modern era. Same with grenades and mines.
War planes quickly became essential for air superiority. Ships remained important war assets and are still super important to this day. And nowadays we have drones commonly used in warfare by at least the superior power nations.
So the way war is fought always changes. The same strategies and tactics that worked for centuries might and will not remain reliable for that long again, nor will the strategies and tactics used today be. Same with weaponry and uniforms.

It was called that because there were so few war-crimes on either side.
A Briton recounted a marvelous event from that time... Where sir Rommel had his men drop off some seized vehicles along the path of wounded British men for them to retreat!

Now Russia (2014-2020 so far) is invading Ukraine (again). Grad multi-rocket launchers have been deployed against civilian targets, fired by Neo-Bolshevik communists under Putin, the new kosher Stalin.
The West is under thorough Communist KGB-style *ideological subversion* at such a tremendous "success" rate that the Nations of Europe destroy themselves willingly without the majority of citizens even realising it. Let alone spare the time to diagnose the terminal cancer infesting them.
It becomes more *evident* every day that the "good guys" did not win the "first" "war to end all wars" nor the second.
*But it sets the STAKES that A Third, MUST take place and the purpose for Defending against the first and second MUST be achieved THIS **_'Final'_** TIME! ...*
… Because if the reason they in grey fought for is not at last achieved, then all is lost for Europe. As it's own entity on this planet as it has always been for millennia.
And if it is not fought for at all, then we will all continue to sail on this sinking, scuttled ship towards Europe's own doom anyway.
So if we fight and fail... At least Europe's fate will be met on European terms, as a once proud race.
The *Only* factions to come out of the great Disasters .1 & .2 were the factions that do the Earth negative good.
The True 'war to end all wars' will be the one that reduces humanity's total population by a large majority. So that it is not necessary to devastate entire subcontinents with nuclear weapons or vile plagues if one tribe was to take another to war.
Hopefully they can pull off this reset without doing that. . .
And hopefully it will be the forces of real good that preserve the races through it! Rather than let the usual 'alleged goodies' splice all of humankind in the process.

Im british and I have two family members who fought in ww1 and 1 died and the other one was missing so all the soldiers that got killed they fought for freedom so they shall be respected
