    LOVEBITES - Judgement Day lyrics:
    Never live, never die, never end, nowhere to go
    Every night, everywhere, everything arriving in darkness
    What is right, what is wrong, what is sin, who's to decide?
    Hide and seek, truth or dare, playing tag, chased by the Evil
    Another back and forth of gaining and losing
    Running out of my time, each tick of the clock's taking down
    piece of my life again
    Who's allied, who's against, who's to pay, I'll wait it out
    Up and down, in and out, left or right, answers are nowhere
    What do you see in this world full of insanity?
    When do we come to ask what's awaiting us, don't look away!
    This is the truth
    RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY! LIFE, GIVEN THE FOREVERNESS
    RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY!
    LIFE, LIVING EVERY STORY
    Travelling in the past, find salvation
    Now with the great will, the path lay in front of me
    Starting here, this is the day!
    SOLO: midori / miyako /midori /miyako / both
    Never live, never die, never end, nowhere to go
    Every night, everywhere, everything arriving in darkness
    What do you see in this world full of insanity?
    When do we come to ask what's awaiting us, don't look away!
    This is the truth!
    RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY! LIFE, GIVEN THE FOREVERNESS
    RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY!
    LIFE, LIVING EVERY STORY
    Travelling in the past, find salvation
    Now with the great will, the path lay in front of me
    Starting here, this is the day!

Groups like Saxon, Iron Maiden, Preying Mantis, WASP and Metallica then grabbed my attention in the 80s and thereafter Dream theater, Lacuna coil, Slot and Seo Taiji took over. As for Lovebites you are witnessing an unexpected revival of an era we thought that had been lost. It is an era we grew up in, it is an era of metal that was at its peak. Haruna is an amazing drummer, utilizing every piece of her kit. She plays at breakneck speed, never stopping, and I mean throughout an entire concert. Fami is the new bassist who replace Miho, the previous bassist and co-founder. Once you get to earlier catalog stuff you will note the difference in playing styles between the two. Asami's vocals on this song are powerful and forward. Miyako (black haired guitarist) and Midori (blonde haired guitarist) are in my opinion the best dual leads going today, if not ever.

World class musicians at every instrument and little Haruna (4' 9") on the kit is the beast that drives this flawless machine especially LIVE. She is as good as they get and that is without any real time to shine. This is her pace for an entire 90+ minute set. She literally runs a marathon at every show, yet smiles, never breaks a sweat and never misses a beat ( no she is not an android ) LOL!! Haruna is unique and is a master of heavy yet not too much cymbal use, master of the bell, and both ungodly kick drum stamina and creativity. IMO she is the most skilled of the band at her instrument. Many drummers are background timekeepers but she is out front sort of a cross between Keith Moon and Neil Peart. The rest of their discography is just like the band.. solid AF. Don't box them off as power metal though, they are influenced primarily by bands such as Priest, Maiden and Helloween, and have a great selection of thrash along with a diverse selction of classically-influenced pieces, and some slower compositions too, all of equal standard. This is the first release from their new studio album of the same name which is released on Wednesday, though the band are hosting a pre-release watch party on their YT channel on Tuesday., and is the first offering with Fami their new bassist, coming off the back of a 16 month hiatus after the former bassist parted company. I'm sure you'll come to admire Haruna's drumming stamina even further once you've tasted a sample of their live shows and yeah, they keep this pace up for 2 hours 😅 Hopefully you'll enjoy the ride!

She is super small but plays with such power, speed, and endurance. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. I see you have just started your dive into the J-metal vortex, and this band is the avatar of J-metal.
    In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song, “Judgement Day” on December 22. Some background:
    They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
    Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
    In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They recently announced their new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” czcams.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/video.html
    The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
    They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."
    Here are more clips you should check out:
    “Set the World on Fire” czcams.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/video.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”.
    “Don’t Bite the Dust” czcams.com/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/video.html, from the same concert;
    "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: czcams.com/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/video.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope.
    Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: czcams.com/video/lXh_uMM94jU/video.html;
    Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” czcams.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/video.html;
    And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: czcams.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/video.html
    Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: czcams.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/video.html.
    For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” czcams.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/video.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M.
    For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” czcams.com/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/video.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)
    Finally, while you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular:
    "Shadowmaker" czcams.com/video/Brmoln5Gxus/video.html
    This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world
    "When Destinies Align" czcams.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/video.html
    "Glory to the World" czcams.com/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/video.html
    "Winds of Transylvania" czcams.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/video.html.
    You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

    You could start with pretty much anything and fall for this band. 'Holy War' happens to be the gateway drug for many, but 'Judgement Day' is the MV for the first track released on their forthcoming album of the same name (to be released in full this week), so it's obviously in the spotlights at present. The bass player Fami only recently joined, following a much publicized audition to replace Miho, who left for personal reasons.
    Haruna is the drummer you're admiring, Asami is the vocalist, and Midori (the blonde ripped one) and Miyako (dark haired one) are the dual lead guitars. You'll get loads of requests from the Wolfpack now, so I'll get mine in for 'Break The Wall'. And live performances are outstanding, especially from the 2019, 2020 and 2021 Tokyo concerts, which had decent sound mixing.

    I'm sorry, but you didn't start watching MV from the beginning . Let me give you some advice... don't turn into a sportscaster when you watch and listen to a song that's new to you (for the first time).
    The duration of the LOVEBITES concert reaches 2 hours (18 - 19 tracks).This is when it comes to the endurance of these Ladies.
    In 2021, Miyako (brunette, guitar, piano, backing vocals) was 4 - 5 months pregnant during the LOVEBITES concert tour. She superbly played a series of 2-hour concerts in different cities. Moreover, the quality of pregnant Miyako's playing is head and shoulders above the game of most male guitarists who are in a normal physical condition.

    Several things.
    FIRST of all - great reaction video dude;
    Secondly - as a TRUE Metal-er who first heard Heavy Metal back in the mid-80's when I was in Junior High, I have to honestly ask: just EXACTLY what in the NINE HELLS is that 'power metal'?
    I ask simply because as a TRUE Metal-er, I know that the genre of Heavy Metal has ONLY 6 TRUE subcategories:
    1 - Heavy Metal;
    2 - Punk Metal;
    3 - Speed Metal;
    4 - Thrash Metal;
    5 - Death Metal;
    6 - Black Metal.
    And since there's NO subcategory of 'power metal', I'd HONESTLY like to know how all the Yutes nowadays came up with that "label".
    ANOTHER thing I'd like to point out is that SO many Yutes nowadays try to compare Metal bands with DragonForce, acting as if DragonForce was EITHER the FIRST Metal band to use a specific style of playing OR that they are the BEST Metal band to do so.
    What ALL those Yutes lack the experience to understand is that DragonForce (YES, they actually are good, but they're NOWHERE NEAR the best) are simply following in the footsteps of Metal bands from back in the early 80's to mid-90's. Bands such as Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Nuclear Assault, Testament, Armored Saint, Death Angel, Overkill, Venom, Helloween, Flotsam and Jetsam, Bolt Thrower, and many more.
    But that's just the inexperience of the Yutes nowadays, MOST of whom are most likely barely old enough to start trying to grow Peach-Fuzz on their faces.
    But that being said however, again great reaction video dude.
    Oh by the way, you just got a new subscriber.

    • @CatharsisYT
      @CatharsisYT  Před měsícem

      That was a whirlwind response lmao. I can answer a few of the questions though. To be fair i can't guarantee you'll LIKE the answers depending on how you take it, so there's your disclaimer first lol
      First, while sure, metal started out with a few subgenres, all of them exist purely because the specific qualities of each got more and more niche in different directions. There's no tree standing that stops growing, and even if you don't see them as "real", they're still used and celebrated nonetheless. There are about 20 main subgenres in total these days, and for a good article on how they're unique, i recommend this one if you're curious to find out WHY so many exist.
      www.guitarguitar.co.uk/news/141030/
      That said, the article even states how love of metal is pretty tribal. While you may not love or be into all of them, listing your personal favorites as the only "true" ones is short-sighted. There's some AMAZING work out there from bands neither of us have heard of yet, and personally I'd never pass up the chance to experience as much as I can, no matter who classifies it as what. If it sounds good, it's good to me, and that's all that should matter. If you don't like a sound, there's no rule saying you have to like the band, or that every band in that subgenre will also be bad. Open minds lead to a lot more places beyond the gate, and I'd prefer to join people walking through it or usher them through and wave as they go. Not standing in their path.
      As far as using Dragonforce as a point of reference, it's because for my generation, they were introduced in a unique way at a unique time and had a unique sound not familiar to most: 2007, Guitar Hero 3. Through the Fire and the Flames was a bonus unlockable track, and one of the most challenging songs on the disk. It was the pinnacle of THE rock music rhythm game sensation, and the introduction to power metal for most of the world. That's why it's used to this day as a comparative note. Not because DF is "the greatest" in their subgenre, or metal as a whole. Just because it paints a very clear picture in the minds of anyone that's heard them, and that's most people these days. So, in a way, it WAS the "first metal band" for a lot of us. At least the first with their sound. The same could be said for Metalcore and Killswitch Engage with My Curse. Also made popular from Guitar Hero.
      When making videos like these, it's best to draw parallels and comparisons that are highly experienced. If I started using mire niche names like Angra, Gloryhammer or Nemophila, nobody would know what I mean or have a frame of reference. As the communicator of shared interest, I have to strike that balance of informative but not alienating. I do ask people to check out obscure groups on occasion, but it needs to REALLY warrant it or i risk confusing more than teaching.
