When you said the Snickers bar “was from a previous trip” I started belly laughing because I had a vision of you squirreling away candy bars in your PFD on that epic adventure trip
hahaha good memory! Not sure if it was quite that long ago but it could have been ;)
That flyfishing is beautiful to watch. I just brought a small hammock out for the first time on my last trip and It was such a pleasure to have on those shorter days. Loved the drone shots of you fishing. Great video Alex
You rock Xander! I’m totally enjoying your videos too.
Agreed! Could watch that fly fishing all day!
Thanks man! The hammock has been a game changer. It's the small things out there haha
Oh man Alex, I needed this video. So beautiful and peaceful. Thank you.
Beautiful photography Alex, this video is a pleasure to watch.
This video appeared to have a different vibe then some of your others so I suspect you are trying some new things. I enjoyed it, just like I do all of your videos! Thanks for sharing!
Ohhhhh that first morning sunrise! Heaven
Beautiful video..perfect music..so tranquil....just what I needed! 🙏
So peaceful to watch, I would love to see a silent solo camping video in the future as well. Great work, thank you!
Another amazing video! Could not have asked for better weather! Keep the videos coming!
New swim trunks alert!
Absolutely perfect adventure! Oh to be young again...used to take the circular route around Keji every year for many years in my 30's. Such beautiful nights and mornings...we have definitely been blessed with some fabulous weather for late summer and early fall this year! Perfect solace...thanks so much...Bruce and Otis
Autumn is my favourite time of year for canoe trips and pretty much anything else. Good video. 👍
Very calming video. No dumb music. Just you’re sweet plucking. Thank you.
Great trip! Thanks 😊 The pasta is farfalle, yum! Everything tastes so darn good outdoors, right Alex 🙌🏻 I so appreciate your work, Barret
Very beautiful unique work please keep doing more and more ; so that we can enjoy during our hard winter.
I use a net bag, (salvaged from the salmon farming industry) laced it up and put rocks in it from the shore line, dump it when you done. after 50 years of fishing with regular gear a lot of Zebco reels, I've taken up fly fishing, caught my first trout on the last day of the season, fished bass all summer. Looking forward to spring to keep it going. I need to improve my cast, liked how you threw out line with out touching the water then let it lay out nice like. thats the goal.
Ah thank you! I have been working on my cast myself. It is a tricky sport to get down!
An onion bag works like a charm.
They are called bowtie noodles. Love the scenery.
nope ..they are called FA FAR LA or farfalle ....butterfly noodle
Awesome scenery. Peaceful camping 🏕. Happy fish 🐟? Far from the Madding Crowds. Enjoy!
This is great!, thanks for sharing :)
thanks for the journey
Love the fly fishing. Looks like a great trip.
Thanks for bringing us along, hope you had a wonderful time!
great video, thank you, you brought us there.
Glad to see you back.
Beautifully filmed and put together!

Fishing also looked great as well.

Seems like a lot of fun!
Feel like I went with you on this wonderful trip. The pasta was farfelle. Thanks for sharing this trip.
Thamks Alex. That was great!
Your pasta is farfalle, also called "bow tie pasta"....👍
Love the fly rod action. Nice trip!
Great video Alex! Needed this today
Thanks! Glad to hear it 🙂
this vid gave me the feels...my kinda trip. thanks Alex!
Thanks Matt
We totally agree launching in the dark and paddling is worth it and feels like an extra day. Great shots and fishing, always a good time hanging with Northern Scavenger!
great trip, fantastic camera! those shots at around 40' are awesome.
Nice trip Alex. You were smashing bass on that Wooleybugger.
Such a relaxing and satisfying video Alex! Really enjoyed this one!!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching
This is an awesome video Alex! I enjoyed every minute! Watched from start to finish while making a big pot of venison chili for dinner. Very relaxing and very well put together! Good stuff!
Absolutely stunning!
Great video, the fall is a great time to be in the outdoors. There was some great shots of the reflections on the lake when the water was like glass. Can't wait for the next adventure you will take us on.
It was one of the most calm trips I have ever been on. Thanks for watching
very enjoyable! I am looking forward to lots more trips you will show us as the season heads to winter!
Of course!
Glad to see you back 👍
Great video Alex, what a beautiful spot and what a great getaway..thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Crazy cinematography! Way to go with the overhead lake shot with the canoe, fly fishing 🙌
Beautiful my friend. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Stay safe buddy. 🏕🔥
Enjoyed this very much 👌
Some great pictures in there bro!
Great trip. Love the short ones for the reset it gives you.
Was the perfect reset
The pasta is called Farfalline - little butterfly in italian.Thank you for the peaceful video that relaxes me during my Chemo 😢
I was a little worried at the start: arriving late; canoeing and portaging after sunset; taking an unplanned and unfamiliar shortcut on the portage; and carrying everything solo in one trip over the portage. Many a trip has gotten into trouble doing just one of those things, and you did all of them in the first 5 minutes! However, ho hum, no worries, no problems, just another trip start. Well done.
Great video Alex - perfect late summer weather. And bug free? So beautiful and peaceful.
Perfectly bug free
Another beautiful video to watch. Night time portages really are tough. Good thing the rain held off. Killing it Alex.
Got lucky with the rain
Great video Alex.
Absolutely love the sound of the ukulele, thanks for bringing it a long and sharing 👍
It is called a Guitalele! Same strings as guitar but small like uke
@@NorthernScavenger Either way it sounds so much better than the typical CZcams music track overlay and I found it quite enjoyable, thanks for sharing
Great video! We were in the Nortn during mid September too and it was an amazing time. Especially because there were no bugs!
Love that. Great time of year
Beautiful trip
I’d love to see a video showing how you plan out one of your trips. From identifying a body of water to finding camps and routes, etc. I think that’d be very cool and informative. Love your stuff, makes me long for my time up north. 👍🏻
We will keep that in mind! Glad to gear it and thanks for watching
Nice and easy trip thanks 👍🇨🇦
Awesome camping adventure. Your quite unique adventurer..fly fishing, cool guitar tunes...ect. Great content, thanks for the share 👊 💥 Southern Ontario here🇨🇦
AHHH one of my favourite CZcamsrs posting - I'm so excited for this gonna watch it now!!
Cheers!
The figure 8 life safety knot firefighter 1 flashback great video man
Another good one Alex, reminds me to get out in my Canoe!
Couldn't ask for more than that
im a week ro two late to your video, but always love them. thanks!
Beautifully shot short🤙
Awesome video
Nice trip! Also I took your advice and just ordered some Kokatat pants.
Awesome
Loved the camera work and soundtrack!
Cheers John! Thanks for watching
Nice, very nice.
Magical fly fishing Alex, beautifully shot - the most unbelievable thing is you only have 31k subs - algorithm will catch up eventually!
Solo, relaxing trips like this are my therapy. Fly fishing for bass looks like a blast. I’d imagine it would get a bit hectic with a big one.
Thanks for sharing your trip and always bringing the positive vibes.
My dog enjoyed your Barred Owl call, got all head tilted trying to figure out where that sound was coming from lol
Haha that's awesome about the dog. For fly fishing I am still learning. I probably make it look harder than it needs to be. Thanks for watching
Haha! My dog did the same thing!
Love your videos and this one didn't disappoint!!. Not sure if anyone answered your question about the pasta, but if its the bowtie shaped pasta, its called "farfalle". I agree with Xander... the fly fishing is beautiful to watch.
Awesome thanks for watching!
Love the Cabot Trail …. My new fave coffee additive!
Same here. We just tried the 40 creek nanaimo and it was our fav for a while. Cabot trail is too good
@@NorthernScavenger I’ll have to check out the Forty Creek!
🔥🙏 what a sick 3 Day solo trip Alex! what a rockin Northern scavenger video! you done real good bro! I just really enjoy how you've grown as a cinematographer and the way you edit your videos all the content the close-up shots and the big picture shots and the drone videos kudos to you dude! elevating your game what a treat to watch in a world of drama and division and doom watching this video was just the same as doing an hour of mental yoga but way more pleasurable. I want to rock one of your hats here in NorCal! love your guys' content keep it coming! Eastern Maritime Canada has a special place in my heart too!! thanks for being so adventurous and fearless and forging out there on your own to show us your place of peace love every minute of it! can't wait to get back there.
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed. Cheers
I wish to live there for at least a few years. Of course I should access to the Internet there.😁👍👍
I love fishing for bass with a fly rod, will have to try to do it from a canoe next year, looks like fun
Yeah it can be a little challenging at times when the wind is up. That is why I had to adapt and use the anchor. Helped quite a bit
Didn't finish the video yet but had to mention I'm a big fan of that mango wheat beer. Pretty exciting to be watching a northern scavenger video right now too 😀
Haha I am too into this beer right now....you will see more of them featured in a video series we release in the new year ;)
Another awesome video! Hoping to get one more trip in this year but not sure, weather is changing now mid October. In my oatmeal I always add a spoon full of peanut butter, some M&M's and some raisins!
Thanks for this. Rejuvenating just to watch! You might try popping your dehydrated hummus in the coffee grinder. I’ve discovered it rehydrates a lot smoother that way… as you say, more like hummus.
Alex you were obviously committed & lucky to slip away for a weekend. We probably all need to more of that. Excellent video, as always.
The only thing that would make catching bass more fun is if they were good eating. I especially like fishing them with an ultra-lite rig. If I was better with a fly rod, that may be my favorite. You made it look fun!
Nice couple days. I see the wooly bugger worked well for you. My fav all time fly, especially on moving water is a stone fly nymph. Dub the thorax with rabbit, hackle for legs and a glued duck quill wing case. The secret to it is the segmented tail section is a rubber band 😉. Use the tension to make a nice taper. The band gives a wonderful segmented appearance and it also gives it plenty of weight. An unbalanced weight which gives it some good motion in the water. The tail or antennae, or whatever they are, can be almost anything. You’ll never find one in a store, but if you dabble in tying, they’re pretty easy to do, and you’ll never regret it. Oh, and as for colours, just look up some photos on line. I usually use a pale green body, dark wing case, and a natural rubber band. Ive caught many many trout, and a beaver dam is a great spot on a trout lake too. Not just for bass.
Hey, isn’t there supposed to be a series coming from you guys? Or did I see an old teaser for that big adventure, and thought it was new?
Will have to try that out Jim, thanks. We are currently editing our big trip. No teaser has been released yet. Expect it in the new year!
Great video. The pasta is called farfalle (fahr-fah-lay).
Would you be able to share which pot set you use? I want to do more fire-only cooking and my existing stuff can't stand up to the temps.
Love the vid, as usual. I had closed my canoe camping season for the year but now I'm thinking I need to get out for one more weekend!
Love your stuff, just watched all of the Labrador crossing you guys did a few years back. Wicked stuff! Also the pasta is called farfelle.
I’m planning on doing a trip with my dad this year, last year we did temagami and killarney, thinking of the nippising in Algonquin this year, any suggestions?
Cheers! Love the videos!
All that gear. What a brute!
You had me at, “Are you kidding?’…..
haha I had to go back to see when I said that...Thanks Lisa
@@NorthernScavenger just the first few minutes!
princess auto pot? I got one like that .. mesh bag and all. looks like my camp kit, pot and coffee mug.. like it alot
Alex I just missed you. My friend and I were just there. How did you like the flooded quad trail lol. That first portage was alot easier in the daylight.
What type of canoe are you paddling. If you want your gunnels redone, Lanny Watts in Huntsville does a great job. Guess you're out of season for trout.
Cudos on the barbless hooks. I've been single hook fishing for decades .
This is an old Bluewater canoe. 16ft and kevlar. I actually restored the gunnels myself on this one. I have a video on it but it was from a long time ago when we were not as good at making videos (czcams.com/video/j5gysKC1HUE/video.html). Yeah barbless is the way to go!
@@NorthernScavenger Gee the gunnels have a lot of age. Is the canoe stored outside? I did my gunnels once and ended up with a sore back for a week. Next time i had Lanny Watts do them.He made all pieces from scratch.
What size dry bag is the big one?? Great video!!!
Cheers👍😎👍
Wolly Buggers for the win. I have a slow sink line and troll them behind my canoe with great success.
Really enjoyed the groove of this video. Different feel and definitely gets my thumbs up. Can I ask where you were on this trip? What park and part of it?
you need to get the fish on the reel easier to control and land practice on the smaller ones so when you get the big one it is second nature. All that slackline in the canoe is going to get ya I know lost a very nice fish due to line getting tangled up with my extra paddle
Yeah I haven't really tried that before. Will give it a shot
