The Helsinki Airport photos are now old, the airport had total makeover in past few years and looks nothing like that anymore :) Also there's no terminal 2 anymore (it's all one terminal now), so that's why you couldn't spot it.
Interesting - I figured it was old when I saw the Aeroflot counter
16:23 I checked a Finnish real estate website, and house like that in Naantali costs about €400,000.
Which is about $437,000.
@@timojuustila7727 Thanks for converting
Are these normal prices in Finland? how much is an apartment cost you?
@@alloverthemap23 It depends a lot where in Finland the apartment is. Naantali is in Turku region so it's desirable place to live and prices are higher. Helsinki region is of course the most expensive, where apartment prices go easily over $1 million. Then in Lapland and eastern Finland you can get a house for $10k or less.
@@alloverthemap23ive been looking for an Apache and for a two room apartment with a connected kitchen and living room its about 800 or if you live in a bad area about 700 a month its more normal to rent than buy.
Haha the first round seemed very familiar but i was sure i had never been there. After i saw the dome, i realized how stupid i was. I went to that school
Quite funny. My first flight was from Helsinki-vantaa airport to Pori airport. With DC-9. Year was 1984
How long of a flight was that?
@@alloverthemap23 If I remember correctly, it was 20 minutes. I might remember it wrong also. It was not long flight. It supposed to be Fokker plane, but I was very glad when it was DC-9 😍
I also got interested in current house prices. Currently, there are 66 detached houses for sale in Naantali. The cheapest is 119,000 euros, the most expensive is 1,450,000 euros. Most of the houses are around 200,000 - 500,000, which I think is the normal price range for houses in most of the bigger cities and the smaller towns that surround them. I agree with an earlier commenter that this particular house probably would be around 400,000. Although the house itself is not clearly seen in the picture, in my mind the two-car garage places it on the more expensive side. But it doesn't look so special that it would cost over 500,000, those then are either a lot bigger or unique in some way.
(I love browsing houses and apartments but I haven't done that for a while, this video made me want to have a look at them :D )
You can get some pretty cheap flight abroad from the smaller airports, because the economy flight companies use them for lower fees.
And they are heavily funded and supported by the government and the cities themselves.
Hey, I've made a map about the headquarters of the largest Finnish companies. The map is called "Suomen suurimpien yritysten pääkonttorit". Woule be awesome to see a video on that map!
Pori airport is mainly used by the Finnish aviation academy to train pilots. It used to be an air force base and there were flights to Vaasa, Helsinki and Stockholm. Now there is only a charter plane flying to Helsinki daily and about once a month there is a charter 737 going to Greece and other holiday destinations.
3:59 Oh, so that is where were are... a place where's my father is from. :D
18:30 You poor summer child... ;) 19:03 "I know exactly where this is! / Wait a minute... hold on..." :)
19:35 I'm there right now! But there are only two elves... Disappointed... :( You need to watch the video when Conan O'Brien visited Finland.
20:23 Lap dance was invented in Lapland to keep people warm in winter times. :)
21:52 It depends much on of the winter. Under or over a meter.
Pori has a fuckload of roundabouts, nobody from Pori can probably navigate them. Only city in Finland where I have seen signs telling "use the turn indicator when exiting!". 😂
Roundabouts are great!
Haha - why so many roundabouts in Pori? There always seems to be locations in countries where towns go nuts over building them -look up Carmel Indiana - supposedly the have the same problem
Messed it up on the second round, couldn't figure out the terminals and lost 5 points there. Perfect rounds otherwise.
@14:43 Finland has almost 190k lakes, but almost 90% of those are smaller than 1 square kilometer. So if that's the cutoff point, there is about 2.6k decently sized lakes in Finland. @22:31 The centrum of Rovaniemi is couple kilometers south of the Arctic Circle, I believe the Santa Claus holiday village is just shy of being within the Arctic Circle as well.
The Arctic Circle goes right through the Santa Claus Village. The location for the whole place must have been chosen on purpose so that tourists can hop over the clearly marked line.
The Arctic Circle drifts, it's been as far North as Kittila and as far South as Kuivaniemi.
@@herrakaarme No it doesn't. It goes currently around the airport. The marked line there is a scam.
@Donanzador 1 km^2 sounds, however, a ridiculously large cutoff point for a lake. Even 10 hectares is something that you clearly notice in the landscape.
5:47 I got flashbacks from when I went abroad for studies and the terminal looked like that still 🥲 I got a final hug from my parents, and then off I went towards adventures with two extremely heavy bags 🛄✈
Where did you travel aboard?
@@alloverthemap23 Not far 😄 I took a flight to Arlanda airport near Stockholm and then continued by train up north for another 3 hours or so to a town called Falun, where I attended Dalarna University for half a year as an exchange student.
(The train ride to Falun was a disaster, I had by mistake booked a "non-specific seat". This basically meant that if there were any empty seats, I had the right to sit down, but if someone came up to me and showed me that they had booked that seat in particular that I was sitting in, I had to get up and find another one. The train got fully booked so there were no empty seats left. This meant that I ended up sitting on top of my bags in the cargo area basically the whole train journey 😂🚆)
Although the Santa Clause Village _claims_ to be at the Arctic Circle (they even have it marked on the ground) the real Arctic Circle currently lies couple of kilometres north from there, close to the Rovaniemi Airport. In fact, every marked location of Arctic Circle (and the Equator) are most of the time false since all latitudes move around caused by the slight alterations to the Earth axis of spin.
And there they are the stupid tourists jumping across the "Arctic Circle" at the village. You can even see from the Google Maps that the "line" isn't marked east-to-west which the real line should naturally be. They didn't even get that part right.
I think there are some 65000 lakes and as many ponds and other smaller bodies of water in Finland.
Pori airport is 5 miles from my home.
Plane only goes to Helsinki.
And charter fligts to overseas holiday destinations every now and then.
Lol the first one is on my jogging route
I'm still not sure if this is the best Finland map or not, maybe it is. I failed inside the airport terminal as usual, because it's always little hard. In Pori I was a little sloppy and clicked under the next bridge. On other rounds 5k.
There are 187888 lakes in Finland larger than 500 square metres / 5382 sq.ft.
Thats a old airport, google map didnt update it :c New one way better
