    Finally a nurse who takes care of their CNA’s!!! I’m a pca on a mother/baby unit but started on a trauma unit and babyyyyy let me tell you I did 6 months and was out because of how much nurses abuse their assistants. I understand we’re all busy but chasing me down to give the patient some water or a blanket is ridiculous😂😂 I just got accepted into nursing school so I pray to God I’m a good nurse ❤️

      The nurses who will chase you down or wait for you to give water/blankets and clean up after the patient should NOT be nurses. They are doing this because they feel that those tasks are below them as an RN so they would rather let their patients wait for what they need, just because they have aides to get those things. I am in my third semester and almost done. My instructors have always taught me that nothing is below me as a nurse. If a patient needs to be cleaned up and an aide is not around, then I do it. Nurses who are delegate-happy are likely just nurses for the pay and prestige, not because they are passionate.

    • @DrMathOfficial
      @DrMathOfficial Před 2 lety +2

      @@NurseNick420 I agree. But i'll also add that nurses do that for even more malicious, evil and mentally ill reasons than just that lol. As I already started, some are just evil, malicious, and mentally ill, and that's why they're doing it. Some are jealous of the aid for whatever reason. Some are resentful towards the aid for whatever reason. But ultimately, all falling under the umbrellas of Evil, malicious or mentally ill lol. But yea, either way, none of them should be nurses (and if I have my way, we'll be eventually eliminating that from the nursing field 👍🏽).

    • @DrMathOfficial
      @DrMathOfficial Před 2 lety

      And as for you @Jennifer, from what you shared here, it already seems like you would be (and/ or are) a great nurse lol. You already have at least SOME of the correct mindset that's needed. Only now have to make sure you have the Studious/ ""book smart" aspect covered lol. With that said, this comment was 11months ago, how's your nursing journey? Did you complete school? Did you have difficulties there and needed (or still need) help? Let me know 🙂

    Felt that “lil bit of common sense and book smarts” come on now!!!! Reached my 11th month as an ICU nurse and secured my first travel nurse assignment! Playing it lowkey by going to a smaller hospital from my level 2 trauma just to get my feet wet. Definitely feeling a little anxious about transitioning but, I know so many good things are on the other side of being uncomfortable 😩☺️

  • @JP-jp4xe
    @JP-jp4xe Před 2 lety +19

    I’m a new nurse, about 1.5 years.
    I’m still working on my delegation skills… specifically with techs/CNA’s that have been in the profession longer than I’ve been alive. There seems to be a stigma around “new nurses” who “don’t wanna do anything”
    Or at least that’s what I hear them talk about when we delegate tasks to them 😩

    • @SincerelyShannonSubcribe
      @SincerelyShannonSubcribe  Před 2 lety +3

      Yea that was a task I had to get use to as well. On one hand I needed to know when to delegate but on the other hand it was like I can just do it myself. But if you’re a good nurse doesn’t matter what they you are or aren’t doing, as long as they do what you ask. It takes a team in the nursing world.

    I’m doing my nurse externship right now and everyday I’m so nervous! Not to mention I’ve gotten put on a specialty area unit that I’m not interested in. I absolutely hate how older nurses like to make you feel less knowledgeable (in other words stupid) especially around other nurses and patients but I’m trying to stick it through. This video really helped me!! ❤️

    • @SincerelyShannonSubcribe
      @SincerelyShannonSubcribe  Před 3 lety +18

      Yea that can suck. Speak up for yourself though, because if not they will keep doing it. I had to check a nurse before, like listen I’m new to this, shaming me for what I don’t know isn’t going to help me. But you got this!

    • @psu2016
      @psu2016 Před 3 lety +17

      I am an extern as well and it's the condescending nurses for me. They get one time with me and after that, I make the boundary known that it is unacceptable for them to speak to me in that manner. Just try to take what you can from it and just know that you are there to learn and if someone does not want to teach you then that shows more about them than you because at one point they did not know either. You got this! Also, keep a notebook with you and write down everything that you did not know, and just review it as you go along. For the life of me, I do not understand why some nurses think making you feel stupid is supposed to be some sort of motivator to make you better, I really don't get it.

    However I’m Starting full time at the hospital next month. You helped ease some of my anxiety. I’m deathly afraid of looking stupid during a code. And like you I still don’t understand the body systems, medications, etc in its totality as embarrassing as it is to say. I understand that I’m still new and things will start clicking the more that I work, but patients and their families don’t care about that. They expect you to have expert level knowledge coming right out of nursing school which gives me anxiety😓. Omg thank you so much been an ER tech for 10+ years, LPN for 2 yrs (during COVID) had 1 month or 8 shifts LTC both right after graduation COVID vax wasn’t too bad but the LTC as a newbie was told just to keep folks alive pass meds the whole shift while being a cna didn’t want to ask anyone nor did anyone offer to help so bedside LTC I left after 1 month and stayed with vaccines; easier on my anxiety. Just graduated May 2023 new RN and took some time off but will start new job next month and so excited to say THANKS FOR YOUR TIME and education on new nurse tips because I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and stressed so Thanks I needed this video one of the Best so far. Appreciate you and I can breathe better after listening to you. Please be a preceptor to all you can help. 😊yes this one video I have subscribed

    Thanks for this video sis. Although I have been a nurse for some time, I have never officially worked on med surg and Im so anxious about this journey 😅 but your video has helped ease a lot of the anxieties I was feeling. Its not easy starting from the bottom because a lot of nurses dont have time or want to show you anything. Its tough out here 😩

    As a new graduate nurse, having my ears on ground is my biggest secret to understanding doc orders.
    Thank you sooo much, and I will love to download the brain. I need some good organization skills PLZ PLZ 😀😀

      Best CZcams resources that helped me: 1) Sarah RN: to help you learn the disease process and nursing care 2) Simple Nursing: to help you visualize, memorize, and better understand what you just learned 3) PLEASE listen to Mark Klimek’s lectures as soon as you can. I didn’t know this resource til later, he simplifies everything and gives great test taking strategies (would’ve helped me get better grades if I knew earlier🙃)
      Best of luck!!🥳

    I am a new nurse and will be starting on the floor next week and I am freaking out. You touched on so many of the emotions i am going through right now. I'm scared , anxious, and really trying to figure out am I capable of being a good nurse.

    Thank you for this video! It was very informative and encouraging. I was recently accepted into nursing school but I'm afraid that I won't be a good nurse. I have ADHD & OCD and my time management is terrible. I tend to be very meticulous and tasks usually take me longer to complete than other people. I would greatly appreciate your input on someone with ADHD & OCD becoming a nurse. Thanks for the fantastic video!

      I have adhd and a few more diagnosed mental health disorders one being closley related to ocd. Its not easy but dont let anything hold you back if you feel this is your purpose! It'll happen just trust your process & dont give up.

    Omg I’m so happy I found your video. I’m not a nurse yet, I still have two more semester left but I’m doing nurse externship.. never had any health care experience before and in my first time in the hospital working as a nurse externship.. I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing most of the time. I recently started but I’m definitely learning a lot. I feel like I will still be lost when I start as a nurse. But thank you for this video and the tips and the talk you gave. So helpful 🙏 ☺️. GOD BLESS YOU
