- "Somebody" (Soundcheck with Alan Wilder and Martin L. Gore)
This was recorded at the soundcheck for the Royal Albert Hall benefit concert on February 17th 2010, for the Teenage Cancer Trust (www.teenagecancertrust.org/).
This is the first time Alan performed with Depeche Mode since the Summer Tour of 1994 ("The Exotic Tour"). - Hudba
BRING ALAN BACK !!!! DO IT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE !!!!!
He retired, so I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. He’s been done for years.
Bring him back for one more album and tour. Watch sales go through the roof!!!

Before 2062 !
Yesss
I had tears in my eyes, my breath caught, no other ballad in the world is as expressive, as beautiful as this one by Alan Gore and Alan Wilder. Depeche Mode a gift that we have to appreciate. And I'm a 57-year-old man who's been through all stages of life and I'm really tough, but I'm melting like I did when I was at the Depeche Mode live concert in Pasadena in 1988.
My wife and I are big, eternal Depeche Mode fans.
Well said! If you don’t get goosebumps from listening to this, you’re simply not human!
I thought Al Gore ran for president of the United States in 1999.
You mean Martin Gore, not Alan Gore!
Actually, the name of Gore, who did not become president, was Albert.
I have nothing but respect for the work Dave, Fletch and Martin have done as a three piece. But.. wow. To see Alan at the piano with Martin.. for a moment Depeche Mode seemed whole again. Beautiful.
There are all these guys walking around the stage in the presence of MLG and Alan Wilder performing "Somebody" and they act like they're installing a new shower in someone's house. I'd be frozen in awe of the moment.
Lol I was thinking exactly the same
Absolutely my thoughts too.
Has it occurred to you that they may have seen it hundreds of times before on other tours? Bloody idiots...
They are paid to do their job.
Danielsan B as a fan, yes. As a coworker, nah, it’s been heard perhaps many times over....it may sound old to them.
I've always felt Alan was the best compliment to Gore and Gahan. And since he's been gone... none of their post 4 albums really have the musical resonance nor emotion that previous albums had with Alan. He always felt like the musical orchestrator, and performer of the band. Alan worked endlessly with each of Gore's songs - to guide them in a direction that gave us such iconic anthems.
Now... DM relies on outside producers to give them their sound. And it hasn't worked as well IMO.
Well said. 10 yrs later. 😂♥️
I mostly agree. Though I did like the Ultra singles, a lot. But after that, the only song I can think of that I love is Precious (2005). I thought the rest of Playing The Angel album was weak. Maybe I just haven't been paying close enough attention.
@@neilsun2521 I also liked John The Revelator off that album.
Playing the Angel was good but it needed something more. I think the missing element is Wilder
@@gbaker9295 Agreed. I think most DM fans do realize Wilder took Gore's songs and elevated them to a classic level. Don't think Gore's songs have benefited from Wilder being gone to be honest.
DM could never do any wrong BUT Alan is the missing part that NEEDS to come back! and not just because of nostalgia.
Truth. He brought the songs to a deeper level that they haven't seen since SOFAD.

For me, Alan Wilder is Depeche Mode as its supreme level. A complete master and genius.
My wife and I had this song played at our wedding reception for our slow dance song.
Alan Come Back.... Please come Back!!! we need You......!!!
czcams.com/video/eWYaHGvXhLM/video.html
Martin has the voice of an angel! Listening to this song, simplicity and perfection with Alan playing the piano and Martin singing my heart is full of love and joy.
No one can play "Somebody" like him.
I can, but was so hard and so dificult But in the end I did it 🥺🥺
@millenia94 hey you're the one who posted dream on and freelove live
OMG alan wilder is the key member of Depeche Mode. The best albums were recording with him
Maestro de maestros Mister Wilder
DM needs Alan, Alan needs you, World need DM together again.
My respects to Peter Gordeno awesome musician! But if I had 3 wishes, one of them would be that Alan Wilder would make another Album with Depeche Mode and go Touring!!! imagen how it would SOUND!! just by saying it gives me CHILLS!!!
czcams.com/video/eWYaHGvXhLM/video.html
Martin and Dave… I know you understand how important Alan is to millions of DM fans. If he could only do one last tour with you it would mean so much for us all.
That ship has sailed unfortunately, especially after Andy’s passing? If Wilder returned, it would make Fletch look like THE guy who caused him to leave in back in ‘95?(which isn’t the case).
Gore would never allow it, plus Wilder has his own thing going on, and he’s quite content. All we have are great memories friend! Cherish them.
@@crazyralph6386 You’re probably right. maybe a few collaborations and a special appearance in remembrance of Fletch. That might be all we can ask for.
Ticket sales would triple 😆 🤣

Interesting how people gloss over all the damning stuff he said.
I miss my youth😩😩 love this song and Depeche Mode!
DM needs Alan back badly.
He's been gone for 25 years and he hasn't collaborated with them at all for 10 years. It's over. You have to move on. He did.

Wilder's magic touch...
Martin Gore and Alan Wilder.....simply AMAZING!
You can see Alan's face on the piano : )
This sounds complete, when wilder plays it it become magic again
I miss Alan. This is perfection. No one could ever replace him. He needs to come back to Depeche Mode, they need him desperately!
Music Love. So true
Yes, thats right. It‘s very sad.
He's been gone for 25 years and he hasn't collaborated with them at all for 10 years. It's over. You have to move on. He did.
@@Danimal77 The Hall of fame induction could have been nice to perform again together but because of covid it didnt happen☹️
A magical moment...that makes me yearn for the Depeche Mode of a bygone era.
Martin e Alan... Due anime musicali complementari... Quanta Bellezza!!! Grazie!!! 🌹❤
Alan, please come back!

always moved to tears ❤
Alan's back! Nothing could make this video more Wilder! They sound great together, beautiful, so good to see these two back together again.
I love Depeche Mode and the new faces they have within the band, but nobody can replace Alan. No one can play his style of piano and synthesizer. His background vocals never were recognized either. He has an awesome voice if you ever listen to songs like Blasphemous, Everything Counts, Strangelove (all-LIVE).
Oh yes, his voice fits perfectly with Dave's. And gives its gothic drama lightness and movement.
I love Alan - I always did.
Love to see Alan become involved in producing, his talents as a musician is awesome and his ability to spin gold in the recording studio, love to see him work with Moby, Gary Numan, Goldfrapp, and of course DM ..... one can dream
As creative director for Electric Light Orchestra Pt. 2 I always secretly hoped Jeff Lynne and the boys would somehow find a way to reconnect (that dream has proven sadly impossible) so Alans reunion with Martin, Dave and Fletch was special for me beyond words . The chills I had at the Depeche show in Anaheim returned in spades as Alan took the stage with Martin and to think I was only watching it happen on CZcams! What a treat if that magic could somehow continue. Best wishes to all. G
So great they did this. We kinda want Alan back!
czcams.com/video/eWYaHGvXhLM/video.html
Beautiful... Alan and Martin never missed a beat, such a beautiful song!! I only wish I was there, taking in this special moment.
My teen idols and heroes ! ,their music kept me in checked when I was a teen in the 80s
For me, the era of Depeche Mode ended with the departure of Alan Wilder. With Wilder I would go back to a DM-concert today.
For sure 🙌
czcams.com/video/eWYaHGvXhLM/video.html
alan wilder: my "hero" for life time. what a gifted musician. and one of the best songwriters around the world! together they were a great team i think and made timeless pieces of music, didn't they ??
deep down i think alan wants to make another album with them:)
czcams.com/video/eWYaHGvXhLM/video.html
Mart's voice is just pure perfection!!!
Its been more than 30 years when I first heard "See You". I was a kid in England and hooked since then. To be honest, I did not expect they can last this long. Look at other 80's bands who consider to be more successful. Where are they now ? Duran Duran, Culture Club, FGTH, Spandau Ballet and so on..... Love Live Depeche !
I would love to see and hear a Live version of Moonlight Sonata with Alan playing the Piano.... Just to think about it give me the chills.
I interview Alan around that time and asked him about Moonlight Sonata. He said he wasn't confident enough to play it properly after so many years. I think he was being humble.
Agree with you. He's being modest.@@jorgepatinomedina
I'm ready to listen to Alan playing even the spoons.
Fabulous. ....miss Alan Wilder. Beautiful song ..
This made me go back and listen to some of Alan's early Recoil stuff when he was in DM. Man half of what I love about DM was his contribution, just brilliant atmospheric synths married to Martin's melody and Dave's voice. That was the formula. Too bad things didn't work out.
Depeche Mode lost their core soul when he left. He was the talent the technician and the backbone of the group . They should’ve paid more attention too him.
it's such a shame that he felt undervalued. but what can you do?
Wow. I like Alan's little "touch" at the end, hehe! It's really nice to see these two great men together again, really. Even for me, that's only 18 years and haven't grown up with them (allthough I've been a fan for some years since I found them).
Alan, I miss you so mutch from DM!!
Come back Alan!! ❤❤❤
I was so lucky to be there... great concert and great location...
This is so great to see Alan and Martin together for this song. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed watching it very much. This song brings back so many memories.
I miss Alan as a member of the group; at least this shows they get along still (or did four years ago).
It brings me back. Le sigh...
For me "Somebody" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and I've never thought they're going to perform it with Alan again... amazing, wonderful, perfect... there are definitely no other words...! Martin in perfect, Alan is perfect, everything is perfect and I think it would be just too perfect to see it... :D
Thank God I had a chance to see them in Lodz on 11.02.10, I still think I was really lucky to be there ;)
Love this, this is Depeche Mode at their best ♥ We miss you a a lot A.Wilder.
Infinita eleganza.
sublimes!!...Alan y Martín 👋👋
As in the good old days - Martin sings damn beautiful but misses notes, Alan plays flawlessly. Perfect duet:)
This makes me smile; such an amazing musician.

Thumbs Up To Mr Gore & Wilder For These Performances & Thanks For Sharing This Delightful Moment !
Absolutely beautiful. Martin sings better than in the studio, Alan's performance is flawless.
Keep working together, guys!! DM is clearly the single most amazing band on Earth, yet it feels more complete with Alan...

Good to see Alan at least with Depeche Mode, even though it may not be in the studio. Amazing performance, as well.
I want to say a word of thanks to Martin, for his always discreet presence even if he is the composer and the great musical mind of Depeche Mode, in this interpretation of Somebody I find him authentic and moving!
Meh without Alan, Martins music would sound like … umm like it is today. mediocre and boring. You should’ve thanked Alan.
@@DxModel219 you have reason but without Martin No Depeche Mode songs

It's simply beautiful...So touching...it's a dream come true! Unbelievable, goosebumps. Depeche Mode is and was and always will be my favorite group and I'm so lucky to have met them at work in 1984, they've been on my mind ever since.
many many thanks .... it's soooooooo wonderfull
Thanks very much Daniel for sharing this one with us !!!
I get the same goosebumps as experienced during the show one year ago :-)
Long live THE MODE
This is so BEAUTIFUL!!!
I didn't care for Alan before really, but I've come to realize what work he did for Depeche. It was when I tried to look inside all those fans that had grown up with him and the chock through tears that came with all things that had to with him leaving back in the days, and the fear of course, what DM were heading after that. And I really feel for him now, but I can also understand Martin at the same time.
Dave+Martin+Alan: whatever they do together could never be any failure. So please do someting together (for us) once more! ❤️
