Masako did you see my "What-IF Goku was Raised in West City?" that I posted on your SubReddit and you just tweaked it slightly to be a little cleaner and have Goku always raised by the Briefs Family instead of having started off raised by Grandpa Gohan in West City, but then adopted by the Briefs Family after he accidentally kills Grandpa Gohan as an Oozaru in West City?
I ask cuz this feels like that "What-IF" but tweaked to be a little cleaner and not rely on Jaco being part of the story. BTW I haven't see the video yet as of the time I made this comment. I look forward to enjoying the What-IF later today when I have more time to actually watch it.

You must be talking about Dr Briefs instead of Bardock because Bardock was an Elite Saiyan warrior (started low-class, but rose his way up to Elite class) and a brilliant scientist (how did that meme even start anyways? I know of that meme, but have no idea where it originated from).

I can actually see that. But also this might have a affect on vegeta’s relationship with bulma. Do you think he would hook up with kakarots ‘sister’ because I don’t really see that happening, maybe if he doesn’t know that goku was adopted by the briefs family but besides that do any of you think that vegeta would hook up with bulma?

I am curious how Masako will have that turn out as well. I feel Chichi's advances were pretty scary and blunt. Most boys who have any idea what Marriage is wouldn't go along with her crazy dreams nearly so easily. Half of Chichi's anger and determination was also from normal idiot Goku agreeing to her proposal without knowing what it meant.
I would like to think that without that miss understanding to make Chichi so angry their relationship might not even get off the ground as she won't have a reason to be driven to beat Goku in response. As for Bluma and Vegeta I am not sure. I mean it's an amazing relationship in retrospect but at the time it first happened I didn't really like it.
Bulma's relationships in general were almost always pretty poor. Yamacha ended up cheating on her or something and yet she goes and chases another "Bad boy" who basically knocks her up and runs off constantly. Seriously Bulma had some pretty bad taste in men. I almost think she needed that Wish for the perfect Boyfriend cause honestly her ability to pick one was pretty poor.
@@JustaGuy_Gaming yeah, Toriyama has stated multiple times that he doesn't know how to write women well. Any time it happens is usually by pure accident.
The whole reason Chi-Chi was mostly out of the picture in Z was because he didn't know what to do with her character, so he just made her an overbearing mother stereotype, which was common in Japan at the time.
I can see it now, when they need Jaco.

He’s been asked at the round table before. The answer is usually the same. Gero would perform horrible experiments on Kakarot, reverse engineer his pod to further advance his own creations, and Kakarot may find a friend in Gero’s son.

Too far outside of your usual brand of What Ifs, but that’s the reason it intrigues me.

@@mistercaddzola734 I wouldnt say its very equivalent of red son since the whole point was that despite the whole communist thing and grittier world, Kal El still turned out to be a good person. If he were taken in by red ribbon... well he wouldnt have bonked his head meaning he would kept his kakarot personality and even with that technicality aside he 100% wouldve turned out a super bad person with the all stuff they wouldve put him through.

@@legaming4859 Capsules may be operating like Pokeballs were they convert matter into energy for storage and keep a blueprint of rematerializing it.

I'm surprised how fast Goku forgot his Saiyan roots despite not getting amnesia, you'd think he'd be much more aggressive like a proper Saiyan without injuries.
This actually makes me wonder how many Saiyan babies are actually successful in their planet conquer mission, if they can all just be talked out of it and live there.
If that is the case, there may be a few Saiyan adults and possibly their descendants on forgotten planets.
Also, even if kakarot didn't get amnesia, his power level was still only two, and even as a monkey, kami, grandpa Gohan, and master roshi could destroy the moon, so honestly Kakarot was never a threat to the earth in the first place, the end result either would've been him dying or having someone raise and train him.
@@jeremiahbennett3004 I figured the idea was that Goku would try to grow up in the wilderness, occasionally attacking civilization as a Oozaru every full moon to get some experience fighting, soften up the planet's defenses, and steal some food and technology to better survive until enough time had passed that Goku was fully grown and he could conquer the plane in one fell swoop.
It's also worth it to add that Goku's parents were also oddballs in the Saiyan race, which helped
Edit: Bocksa would actually use his street smarts for something more than just fighting. He would be a more tactical fighter. And MAYBE be less naive. Still naive but less.

By less naïve, that would sound more like, "trying to understand earth traditions, which he often gets distracted yet grows curious about and checks out the smaller details" type.
This could potentially fix alot of Goku's character flaws too when he becomes an adult because he actually was raised in the city around other people instead of in the woods

I like this. It feels natural for the characters, changes Goku in a believable way, and gives a highlight to characters we don't get to see much of. Good work Masako.
It makes sense because different people produce different results. Things tend to change during the what-ifs.
I would love to see Bokksa ending up with Suno in this what if. I think his different upbringing would make him appreciate her more.

I sat here with baited breath to find out what Goku's name was going to be. I was half expecting it to turn into Trunks. And when Future Trunks comes back into the past, he'd say Hey Goku. I'm not Goku, I'm Trunks. No I'm Trunks, you're Goku, No I'm TRUNKS. And it'd be a hilarious verbal back and forth all around. Missed an opportunity here.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Bulma and Vegeta always ending up together. It took a lot of very specific scenarios originally for them to end up together. I honestly can't see them falling in love naturally every single time; especially since those very specific scenarios led to Vegeta living with the Briefs- something that most assuredly wouldn't happen in every timeline

You know it would be really sweet to see the moment in which after training with kami and coming back from being a dwarf to becoming a handsome young man. And seeing Bulma pinching Goku's cheeks and saying" how my little tiny brother has become so handsome"
This is a great What If. Props to the originator of this one and well done to you.
I really enjoyed this one man. I kinda hope there will more "What if Goku landed at X", tho maybe one per year as to not obscure other potential What ifs. These kind of scenarios, when executed well are really entertaining and has the potential to change A LOT about DB's overhaul story, that's refreshing.
I bet we'll see more city based characters in this one, Goku having different friends as he's been raised somewhere else would make sense after all? Maybe an early inclusion of Lapis and Lazuli, as the Android arc might no be a thing, at all, that'd be nice!

This is great! I love this idea so much. The implications for the rest of the story are huge. Like what's gonna happen when Goku meets Chichi? He'll know what marriage is, and I doubt he'll agree to marry her. There's so many directions things could go!

@KïDD ZêÜSS Studios and they’d decline, except maybe Yamcha. If Krillin was totally okay with that, he wouldn’t wish for 17 & 18 to become human(even if the wish didn’t work). After his experience with Tao, I don’t think Tien would be comfortable following his path. Yamcha, I don’t see any reason why he’d refuse, unless the others’ refusal motivates him not to go through with it either.

I'm excited to see Jaco, Hercule, Tights and Grandpa Gohan take a more active role in the story. I would without a doubt love to see Bulma become a trained martial artist & fighter! I'm going to adore seeing Mark being a part of the Z Fighters, and growing up with Ki training. Since Capsule Corp & the Red Ribbon Army are rivals, I could easily the Briefs family investigating into the Androids, after they take out the Red Ribbon Army. I potentially could see Suno & Android Eighter becoming a frequent guest at Capsule Corp. Maybe even Android 17 & 18 if they save them before the Android Saga.

I love your take on this but I just wanted to point out the one huge mistake you made...
In Universe saiyan brains don't form the same as a human brain... Thus a pure-blooded Saiyan from the moment they pop out their brains are recording everything it's highly abnormal for Saiyans to NOT remember the moment of their birth...
Without the head injury from grandpa Gohan dropping him kakarot would remember being a infant on planet Vegeta... He would absolutely reject the name bocksa because he already has a name, that being kakarot... He would also remember being in the incubation chamber and being sent to Earth but not much else... Although he might have overheard things while being in the incubation chamber...
