Best Place to Stay in the Algarve 🇵🇹 Portuguese Food & Cocktails in Carvoeiro, Portugal

- Date night in Carvoeiro: the Sky Bar, exploring the caves, Portuguese piri piri chicken, sunset and cocktails!
We tried to get a drink at the well-known Boneca Bar but after struggling to get servide we decided to instead enjoy the local caves and rock formations of Algar Seco. Hannah had another bar in mind to visit so we headed to the Sky Bar, where we had some tasty drinks. Although they were nice, I wouldn't necessarily recommend the place as they tried to make it seem too exclusive and made people wait behind a red rope for a long while despite there being tables available. They then didn't let people sit on the front tables unless they bought a €90 bottle of Champagne or put up a bar tab for the same amount.
For these reasons, we decided to stay for just the one and then headed back to our apartment, where we actually got a better view of the sunset anyway! We then went into Carvoeiro town to Restaurante A Fonte for some of the famous Algarve piri piri chicken and it did not disappoint!

Ah yeah! It actually got cancelled the next day… but we still had fun by going to one of the top beaches!!!!

Im going Carvoeiro soon, what cheap food places do you recommend? Also how did you pay in the restaurant, was card available?

I just took a look at the sheet I made - we usually had drinks / a bottle of wine with dinner and for two it came to between €28 and €57. The only place we had to pay cash was in the peri peri chicken restaurant and that was one of the cheaper nights (€35). Obviously we could have kept it cheaper with less alcohol but we were happy to spend on it whilst away!
We ate at: Primavera (nice Italian), Taberna Portuguesa (tapas and amazing steak on a stone), Casa Algarvia (skewers) and A Fonte (family-run place for peri peri chicken).
This was over a year and a half ago now so prices may be a little different now.

Why was the first bar a fail? It was looking pretty happening. Either way, you guys really nailed the "sundowner" with them cocktails. It seemed to feel good around there! 🙂
They just wouldn't serve us or even try to take an order! And actually it was cool but I think we got a better view after so all's well that ends well!
