FUNCHAL, MADEIRA - Are you looking for the best fish restaurant in Funchal? I have one of the best Madeira restaurants for you. Madeira food is simple but delicious and Madeira Portugal is famous for its fresh fish and seafood. I start this Madeira vlog at the food market in Funchal, Mercado dos Lavradores. Today in Funchal is "market day". The local farmers bring their produce to the market on Fridays and Saturdays, so I start by looking at the fresh fruit and vegetable. After that, we walk into the fish market which is open Mondays to Saturdays. This Funchal Market is the best place for fresh fish in Madeira. It is full of all different types of fish, including tuna and espada (black scabbard fish), the Madeira Island local delicacy. You might have heard of black scabbard fish (espada) and banana. After seeing the fresh fish it is finally time to eat at my favourite local snack bar in Funchal. I know for a fact that the chef buys his fish fresh from the local market every day and you will not find a better place to eat fish in Funchal. For me, Bela 5 Snack Bar really is the best restaurant in Funchal to eat fresh fish and seafood. I start with the tomato soup and bolo do caco ( the local garlic bread). For my main course I take the recommendation from the friendly chef and eat wrasse. It is simply delicious. You must eat here in Funchal because it is my favourite food in Madeira.

I recomand omand Casa Portuguesa, Funchal. Very polite and honest people with a perfect 3 stage menu. One Fado singer, one guitarra Portuguese and one violao. Perfect dinner! Not or budget tourists.

I first visited the market 20 yrs ago and can confirm that the prices for fruit and veg are very high. The freshness of the fish is superb. Highly recommend you try a fish meal when out to eat.

Joe, we were in town to see the lights and we walked behind the market to Bella 5. A guy in there with the name a of Tiago recommended a craft beer brewed on the island. Wonderful beer and bar. They remembered you and said that your video has bought a lot of traffic and customers their way, well done! By the way we visited UauCacau chocolate cafe outlet in the same way after your video.
