  • wap 4 for netravathi is getting coupled when iam at shoranur junction. very amazing to see the connection between a engine and whole coaches behind that, this tiny hook can withstand the enormous tension while hauling.

    A very friendly crew. Usually, they don't like anybody nosing around with a camera. Thanks for shooting and sharing. Cheers!

    Both hoses are for breaking purpose and it is pneumatic.... No WAP 4 is equipped with HOG... Only WAP 7 are provided with HOG.... But not used..... If it fails, there is a no stock in intermittent stations. either of WAP 7 with HOG or generator cars. However can be used for short distance trains routes like Mumbai- Pune or similar.

    What are the metal grills over the windscreens for? Are they expecting bricks and stones when passing through 'no go' areas?

    Did they Twine the hoses together? TWINE!, couldn't be bothered to at least use a zip tie or better yet a new set of hoses??
    maybe there's more to it I'm not following..

    • @kevinsheth90
      @kevinsheth90 Před 8 lety

      You are right, unfortunately they are just tied. I know it isn't a sound solution but it is what it is....

    • @TheSonic10160
      @TheSonic10160 Před 6 lety

      The twine is to stop the hoses from flying apart and smashing his shins when he opens the air taps. Plus, it's easily reusable, unlike a zip tie.

    he should seriously wear a helmet. what if coupling lever slips while he is beneath it, connect hydraulics for break.

      it has air pressure of 70psi or vacuum of 22" for brakes. Not hydraulic pressure

      What lever? There is no risk of anything falling on his head, and if he did wear a helmet, it's just more cumbersome in the tight spaces.

    • @FishbedMyBeloved
      @FishbedMyBeloved Před 6 lety

      What lever? Good point. The lever to in couple the knuckle doesn't exist, and it has to be done right in front of the locomotive.

    • @kevinsheth90
      @kevinsheth90 Před 8 lety

      I think that one is for the train brake (main air brake) and other is for the electrical connections between boggy and loco. Because then they cut off battery power of the boggies when loco is attached!
