- The Supreme Court, Wednesday, held that a Muslim woman can demand maintenance from her husband under Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure as well as the Muslim Women (Protection on Divorce Act), 1986.

@@syedhisham2594 That is not just for muslim. Jab hindu or muslim same hi hai to laws bhi same hi hone chahiye. Law religion ke base pe rakhna tha to Pakistan banaya hi kyu.
@@akash-yb5ds maintenance is bad for Hindus also... It is universally a biased law... When I don't have any right in my wife's money then why does she have a right in my money?
@@akash-yb5ds some matters are religious like marriage and divorce where there is difference in almost all the religions... Your marriage is different from our marriage and the same for others... When there are differences.. Then how can they be a single law... Can the speed limit for a plane and a car be the same?... And furthermore alimony is not there even in Hinduism.. So why are we are including a western cruel concept as part of our law?

The supreme court has time and again protected civil rights and rallied against any form of discrimination. This verdict is emblematic of this fact.
discrimination in favor of women.. is what maintenance and alimony is... why does a woman have a right in the wealth which she has not acquired by herself.... free loading lazy buggers... instead of removing it universally they are including where this black law doesn't exist...
I wholeheartedly welcome and support this progressive secularising judgement of the Honourable Supreme Court of India.
I think BJP should move towards UCC now.
Not with the kind of coalition they have, they would have done it if they got full majority themselves.
