I think it's because game trailers(or at least total war warhammer trailers) are short stories by themselves. They show the lore of the game and show cool moments and battle scenes. These trailers don't contain scenes in the mainstory. Or at least the story of the game is large enough that showing a few crucial moments isn't much of a problem. On the otherhand movie trailers can't show full battle scenes or important moments. Imagine that they showed the full rohirim charge in the trailer of the 3rd LOTR movie. It would lessen the impact of seeing the scene in the theaters. So they only show fragments of the movie that roughly tells you what the movie is about.
Only thing that hit him was a single skeleton. I mean, yes they were up against a powerful vampire and some elite units in an absolutely unwinnable situation, but he didn't even try to pull out a weapon or pray or do anything at all. What was a guy like him even doing in sylvania, he gave up the second he saw a ghost and some skeletons. That's like driving to the store to pick up some groceries only to stop in the middle of the road the second he sees other cars exist and just, starts waiting to die because he can't handle it. It's bizarre.
