Literally one of the most emotional moments is when Vegeta acknowledges Trunks. Surreal moment. Vegeta didn’t care if he won or lost, he just took off with all the rage in the world to try to inflict an ounce of pain upon Cell
They missed a great opportunity here with Vegeta's character and his development. THAT moment should have been the moment he transformed to SSJ2. He and Gohan could have fought Cell together... and Vegeta could have gotten revenge for what Cell did to Trunks. Instead... the decided to make a chump out of Vegeta... yet again. WASTED OPPORTUNITIES!!!
I love how the animators focused on Gohan’s hair when he powered back up to SSJ2. It is too good!
Exactly bro
Animeta
Why you write ssj2 instead of ss2 for super Saiyan 2
@@rishavkumar8922 SSJ stands for Super Saiya-jin. It is the Japanese translation for Super Saiyan.
@@keljerel thanks 👍
I always believed Vegeta should have gone SSJ2 here, your not alone in thinking he was going to.
Yeah just like they robbed him of ssj3 against Berrus.
The whole arc was leading to Gohan turning SSJ2. If Vegeta does it too right after, it would undermine the story. He's also just not strong enough yet.
SSJ2 wasn't a thing until Gohan unlocked it. And it was supposed to be the result of Gohan finally harnessing the rage power that he had only shown glimpses of in the past. Really, the Cell saga is the culmination of Gohan's entire character arc. So it makes no sense for anybody else to achieve SSJ2. DBZ should have ended with the destruction of Cell.
@@connman8d617 "DBZ should have ended with the destruction of cell" (as originally intended...I think)
@@unspeakableflame292 I believe that was the intention. Dragon Ball is the Story of young Goku. Dragon Ball Z is the story of young Gohan.
This part of the DB story is where Vegetas’ shift in character begins. And it only gets better from here😌

I always love the genuine confusion Cell has when he goes "Why would Gohan sacrifice himself to save.. Vegeta?"
For Vegeta...? Really?
@@Speed4Runs REALLY XD
Cell never said that in the original !! That talking was only in US version... They add so much non sense speech to the anime... In the original version cell stays in silence.
@@DarkDanteZ that’s why it’s better in the dub. Staying silent is dumb. 😊
@@DarkDanteZ I know about the original, the dub fixed the whole show for me. It's gives the characters much more personality
"Cell has crossed me for the last time. He has tricked me in battle, mocked my Saiyan ancestry, but this time he has gone too far. He will pay for what he has done to my son!".
I get Goosebumps every time I hear this speech from Vegeta this is why he’s my favorite character in the whole series. The way vegeta raged and avenged trunks gets to me man you can feel the emotion he has for his loved ones. He charged towards cell without second thought even though at this time cell was far stronger than him he didn’t care and that’s why he’s the best.
Same thoughts here. Vegeta best character! I loved vegeta since I first saw him.
@@gutshanayamagetwrecked4414 Same He’s been my favorite since he was introduced in the series. He’s the best character by far and most people can relate to Vegeta. His character development is crazy from being evil to becoming one of earth’s mightiest warriors.
Summed up in a single with with the rage fuelled “MY BABY BOYYYYYYYY!”
Can’t wait to see how she reacts to the abridged version
I literally almost cried after Vegeta showed his love for Trunks after Cell blasted him. This moment just hit me so hard for some reason right now....
There is also his moment in next saga that at least for me it hits even harder, if you know what I'm pointing at. Cuz I don't wanna spoil anything for Madison.
I Give 1000% Credit for Vegeta for Standing up for his Son. 9:39 That's What All Fathers should be doing instead of Acting like nothing happen and let their Child's Death be in Vain.
And yet because of him, Cell almost won because Gohan had to save him
@@somerandomnon-importantper3219 no one told gohan to jump into that blast
Hey, he gets to meet King Kai!
Yup vegeta definitely earns his credit but i want to add one thing which i personally like and not alot of people wouldnot going to talk about but goku's confidence in gohan is just awesome for me though no one even piccolo don't have much faith as we can see from his reaction may be not all people will agree but that's my humble opinion though
@Darkness Flame Media
Then your poor vageta would have been dead. Vageta tards are delusional
"Get off the girl, Krillin!" Lmao
Anyway, Cell now has Super Saiyan 2 power. You can tell by the blue electric sparks he has. It's indeed due to a massive zenkai boost.
I wouldn't say Super Saiyan 2 power. Gohan told Goku telepathically that his energy been cut in half. I would say Cell became Super Perfect Cell, because he's Perfect Cell who merely got stronger. He had the biggest possible zenkai boost from being only one cell. Perfect Cell is just so powerful that he has the super saiyan 1 aura. Super Perfect Cell is even way more powerful that has the super saiyan 2 bio electricity!
Instant Transmission requires a ki signature to lock onto, so Goku couldn't have carried Cell to an uninhabited planet like Mars. Knowing this, one can realize that choosing King Kai's planet was the smartest decision Goku could have taken since it was probably the only planet with an easy and quick ki lo lock on and with the lowest number of victims possible.
I gotta disagree with baris here. Cell's power has significantlly increased here after his rebirth. Regardless if vegeta didnt get in the way and gohan's arms were intact, the latter could no longer bully him after the rebirth. But gohan would still have a little bit of an edge.
Gohan definitely defeat cell as he was holding cell attack with one hand
They're both equally as strong
This was also Gohan powering up his SSJ2 form for the first time ever *literally* . Without a doubt it would've been a good fight but with Gohan having the major edge. Hell he dodged every single punch cell threw and because of Goku he knows how cell fights and how to match it.
@@Anguish88 No Gohan without injuries is much stronger than super perfect cell
@@pikabuu6315 okay I looked it up too and I agree. He was damaged and injured and still won.
Not sure the subtitles was correct, but I liked it there Gohan said: "I'm glad you're back so I can avenge my father. "He was smiling when he said that.
That Vegeta moment gave me goosebumps ! It's pretty unfair btw, he trained soo much, but the others are just stronger everytime. Vegeta deserves more love from the writers !😁😁 I can't wait for the next episode reaction.
The only problem with Vegeta is that he doesn't "trains" but tortures his body just to get one step ahead of Goku meanwhile Goku tries to surpass his own limits.
In opposition of what you stated, i would argue that Cell returns with near SSJ2 power, hence why he is always referred to after his return as "Super Perfect Cell". I believe that is why they also added the electricity to his SSJ aura, to signify that he has upgraded to the same level as Gohan. I would agree that non-injured Gohan is still slightly stronger, but Cell closed the gap significantly when he returned.
Full power Gohan is still astronomically stronger than Super perfect Cell. Cell's zenkai likely put him slightly above the surpressed SSJ Tenn Gohan that was whooping his ass earlier.
After losing his arm, Gohan does admit he underestimated Cell in the manga but still fended off Cell's solar kamehameha with one arm and his full power blew out Cell's solar Kamehameha like a candle and destroyed every last trace of Cell.
Yup considering what one blast did to Gohans arm yeah. Fanboys will say otherwise, but whatever.
@@Geozone117 I agree cell much stronger. Also one blast from Krillin KO'd vegeta on namek krillin>vegeta
@@Geozone117 Yup considering that Gohan literally annilated every last trace of Cell with one arm but whatever.
If cell was stronger, he would have survived, he didn't.
Cell's final lines gives me goosebumps everytime. The way his aura blasts out, the way the screen is turning while looking at gohan just frozen there. So good.
This is why I keep rewatching dragonball. Not once have I thought of Gohans same arm being injured in both timelines.
And guess what..Goku dies in this timeline too!!! Just not the same way....crazy right?
This is exactly why Vegeta is a true father. Even though he may never admit it, he actually cares a lot about his family, willing to take revenge on his son after being killed by Cell.
He's a shit father. Even goku is a better father than him. Lmao
Honestly the most unbelievable part of cell returning is him learning instant transmission in a few seconds before blowing up Goku.
Also cells "I will live forever" is pretty cool considering he doesn't age and his regeneration practically makes him immortal without any dragonballs.
Yeah haha. It seemed extremely convenient his cells somehow picked up on Goku's Instant Transmission technique when Goku himself got disintegrated by Cell's self destruction, leaving none of Goku's cells behind.
@@lass961 The only real plausible way i can see it happening in story is cell having that technique that Goku does, The ability to mimic techniques just by seeing them (Dragonball when goku first does a kamehameha) . Either way tho its shaky at best.
Everybody talking about goku's plot armour for a change we got a plot armour for a villian ..well i don't like the word plot armour
I think he just gained it from the hand touch Goku pressed on Cell for the transmission to take effect.
@@lass961 I'm fairly certain that was when Goku touched him before he blew up, but it's just plot convenience at best
I love how he listed it as "he has tricked me in battle, mocked my saiyan ancestry but THIS, this time he's gone too far" putting his son before battle and his saiyan ancestry in his own mind. Trunks was his line. His disregard for his wellbeing knowing he couldn't win.
One of the reasons Cell survived is not only his regen but Frieza cells. Frieza can survive even with the most fatal injuries. Cell also get a massive zenkai boost (not a small one as you stated) and is now on par with Gohan. Thats why he hurt him so much with one blast. Also next episode is one of the best of the entire series.
Lolol he was nowhere near close Gohan's power even AFTER the zenkai boost. Yeah he gained power but a lot of people underestimate how strong Gohan really is
Even with the boost Gohan is still almost twice as strong as super perfect cell
@@Teasquared27 this is clearly not the case.
Ssj2 gohan is must stronger than super perfect cell but gohans stamina at that point in the fight was drained quite a lot that why cell was able to hurt him as much as he did plus the fact gohans literally threw himself in front of vegeta because he had no time to block the blast but fully regenated ssj2 gohan would of wiped the floor with cell even after his zenkai boost
@@deancrawley2406 they're equal and that's the facts
Cells literally the best villian across the series as a whole , also this was one of my favorite Vegeta moments. I remember trying to mimic his scream as a kid when I woke up from a nap in my uncles car, then he looked at me like I was crazy haha

In the manga Cell said that as long as the nucleus on his stays intact and I damaged with his body he can regenerate. And fans have pointed that this had to be an error to Toriyama cause Cell literally had his whole top half blown off by Goku when he did the Instant Transmission Kamehameha. So the Dub version had to correct the translation
The cell that returned is called super perfect cell…. He is more powerful and is on the same level as gohan. That’s why he has a similar electricity formation as gohan. Fun fact at this moment in dragon ball gohan and cell are able to destroy solar systems…Love the reactions ❤
Gohan is still at least 1.25-1.5x Super Perfect Cell’s level it’s just his self doubt that creeps up once his arm gets damaged that holds him back. As soon as he lets go the power difference annihilates Cell.
Super Perfect Cell doesn't exist. Before his self-destruction Cell is called Cell (Perfect form). After his rebirth he is called Perfect Cell due to his new power. These are the official names like Cell (form 1) and Cell (form 2)
@@jack69120 It may not be the "official" title, but Super Perfect Cell is a well established name in the American Fandom.

Did anyone else notice that the dub made a Remixed Version of Cell's Theme when Cell teleported back? I love it! In a way, it's like another way of acknowledging that Cell was reborn.
Madison is right. Cell did get more powerful after the self destruction. It’s explained better in Kai that Cell got a Zenkai boost but that boost made him at a SSJ2 level. Gohan was a little more powerful still until he got hurt.
I disagree. All evidence point out that cell was stronger than Gohan at this point. These are the facts. The Manga points it all out. Correct me if I'm wrong

The next episode, Save The World, is literally the BEST episode in DBZ history.
Notice the lightning around Cell. Cell got a saiyan zenkai boost from the self destruct and is basically Super Saiyan 2 now also.
I said this the last time, but yo like how are we already at this point?!?! It’s crazy, people fuss about DBZ sagas lasting forever but this honestly proves that wrong!

That comment about Gohan’s arm was a mind blown moment for me. I never even thought of how it’s the same arm.
20:16 "I've got one arm left but that's all I need" This is the most powerful line in the entire DB franchise
not really
@@senpai5175 it is, only line that has some history associated and future gohan parallels.

@Savi123
Ssj2 Gohan lines are definitely the most powerful. None of goku dialogues are that good. Only gokutards deny that
Cell is probably on par or maybe even slightly stronger than Gohan after regenerating. He's around SS2 level and you can see the lightning signifying that.
Gohan is still leagues above cell as confirmed by Toriyama
While it's true Cell is much stronger now, unwounded Gohan is still stronger. Wounded Gohan on the other hand is closer on par with Cell at this point.
@@cringekiller348 Can you tell me where to look for that, I am curious. I always assumed Gohan broke another limit with the FS kamehameha
Even if Cell is eternal, there is always the evil containment wave that could possibly seal him away.
Gohan saving vegeta is not being recognized enough I think. It's for all the times vegeta saved gohan on namek I remember 3 different times. Also when vegeta was getting tortured by frieza gohan tried jumping in twice but was stopped by piccolo. Also how gohan was lying on vegeta was a callback from the first saiyian saga when gohan landed on vegeta as the big monkey. Gohan lost his same arm in the future saga saving young trunks and in the current timeline saving trunks father. Gohan is og.
Vegeta claims it was all Goku's fault but he was the one who allowed Cell to reach his final form in the first place. This is coming from a Vegeta fan btw
Madison saying did he turn ss2 was the thing I wish they did
That man was pulling them mental gymnastics with her questions he didn’t know the answer to 🤣🤣🤣
Vegeta is the greatest character is all of fiction. His true rebirth into what he is now, started in this episode.
Overrated and one if the shittiest characters in fiction.
Cell went from Perfection to ULTIMATE Perfection here.
EDIT: Having seen this series multiple times, I never realized how he remained perfect despite vomiting Android 18 away, until now. His cells tasted 18's DNA to keep it in his body and now as a result, he can preserve his perfect form despite no longer having 18 absorbed.
MADISON: “I don’t want Trunks to be hurt.”

Vegeta words powerful as ever, he's amazing
It's shit
I think it’s implied Cell came back as super sayain 2 level. Notice the lightning around him. Still a bit weaker than gohans level before he lost an arm, but much stronger than his original perfect level
Its prob been stated, BUT Goku needs a Ki (energy) to lock onto to use instant transmission, so he couldn't take cell to some empty world, so king kai's was the place that had the least people that Goku could think of.

There’s a significant difference in strength between perfect cell and super perfect cell. He returned with the same bio electricity you see in the ssj2 form. He has Ssj genetics in him. The closer to death the stronger he gets. We saw this with Goku on Namek. His near death experience after the explosion made him come back much stronger than his pre- explosion perfect form
Lmao the increase in power is visible and yet some people still think it was an ezy win for gohan
"Krillin, get off the girl!" This might be my favorite comment out of all the reaction episodes so far hahaha
The whole explanation of cell coming back is him saying “somehow” lol 😆
I'm pretty sure it's confirmed in the manga that Cell's power greatly increased to around the same as Gohan's after he came back due to the Saiyan cells he has in him as they become a lot stronger after being on the brink of death. He also now emits a lightning aura the same as Gohan which he didn't have before, this has definitely been done on purpose to showcase his own version of SSJ2.
Still was much weaker than ssj2 Gohan at full power
Ultra perfect cell was the unofficial name for this final form I think.
Yeah gohan would have wrecked super perfect cell if he wasn't injured lol.
I like seeing Vegeta for the first time try to avenge someone besides himself......it's a huge character development from his usual selfish desires
Yo, it's insane from everything that's led to this moment. From fighting Dr. Gero and Android 19, to Androids 17 & 18 to a monster like Cell.
Even going back when Goku was a boy and reaching this point of the story shows you how dangerous the Red Ribbon Army was. Imagine what they could have been capable of if Goku hadn't stopped them. The fact the Red Ribbon Army was capable of giving birth to a killing machine like Cell. It's really insane.
When I saw how Cell Survived when I was 8, I was like lost for words. Well we can admit Dr. Gero was a genius, the fact he created Cell giving him this kind of power shows how insane he really was.
Vegeta: MY BABY BOOOOOOY!!!
Gohan: Vegeta no!
Vegeta: VA-GEE-TA YEEEEESSSSSS!
Cell: Vegeta no (smack)
Until this day we still don't know how Cell was able to get Goku's instant transmission
Cell experienced the instant transmission with his own body when he got transported by goku, thats probably how he got a hold of it
It's pretty simple and obvious. When they both exploded cell absorbed goku's cells from his exploding body. Because cell already has goku's cells, the new ones he absorbed in the blast were seamlessly incorporated into him. Like when you squash a mosquito your hand gets covered in its blood...
@Waszabi im not sure that goku was vaporised. He was killed but not necessarily vaporised. That was semi-perfect cell exploding and goku was much stronger. If cell had one surviving cell then goku did too.
@Waszabi well you can see majin buu be vaporised in the vegeta sacrifice explosion as well. Then he was shown to not be vaporised but in little pieces. Do you expect to see the dead goku in pieces? Ofc they wont show that.
@Waszabi so because toriyama said nothing we can assume that you are right and not me? Just because? Why didn't cell learn instant transmission the other three times he happened to see it then?
Feel it drawing nearer, an endless fear that takes you hold
Feel it getting closer, revealing such an evil soul
I can't surrender at the turning point of destiny
Right now it's do or die; my life is on the line and I will not flee

Best dragon ball theme
nahh man, Cell came back way more powerful than he was before the blow up. He has Saiyan DNA. Him being so close to death gave him a huge Zen Ki boost. He never had the electricity wrapping around him like he does when he comes back. I'd put him on par with SSJ2 on his return.
"When you get to hell Prince, tell them to make some room!" Best Cell qoute from TFS ever.
There can literally be nothing left of Cell for him to really die, not even a small cell or speck...otherwise he'll just keep regenerating.
I think cell got a zenkai boost from that, in the Japanese version dende says, this time even Gohan might not be able to defeat him.
Gohan fanboys will say otherwise.
7:18 guys! Vegeta is just in complete awe of Gohan’s power and fearlessness.
Vegeta’s rush was epic, his ice cold exterior is slowly beginning to crack but to me what was most beautiful about it is Vegeta KNEW he didn’t stand a chance! but he gave it everything he had anyway!! and i’m happy the Cell Super Saiyan debate resurfaced…
That has actually been a fascinating debate in the DBZ community for probably 30+ years now 😂 i’ll say it again; Cell IS SS2 here, absolutely he is, he is, HE IS!! 😊😊 such an awesome villain. Debates are what make things great… and DBZ certainly is an all-time GREAT. So hyped for the next two episodes! 😁 I think i’m going to get very drunk for Friday’s premiere, it’s a plan!
There were much bigger things going on here than Vegeta. There were Goku’s and Trunks’ deaths, Cell’s return, and Super Saiyan 2 Gohan’s rematch with Cell. Still, something remarkable happened in this part, which is kind of a rarity for Dragon Ball: character development. This part truly began Vegeta’s redemption arc, and it’s still beautiful to see, so much so that it still gives me chills.
Vegeta definitely deserved to get ss2 there
Cell coming back after his self destruction came back as a SSJ2 equivalent. He is now more powerful than in his previous “Perfect” form.
It’s amazing that this moment was the beginning of turning Vegeta into arguably the most beloved character in the series now anyways. It’s not acknowledged enough that Vegeta actually saved the Earth and Gohans life by helping him defeat Cell.

@@AspectClip Some of it maybe, but it's one of the most inspiring comebacks when it comes to Gohan gaining courage again. People always get chills at the end part. And technically did happen in the manga so it's canon.
Yes the final bit where Gohan recovers mentally is great, it's right at the end though so I wasn't fully counting it until the next episode tbh.
@@AspectClip It's understandable, but it's still a Canon episode regardless.
I never said it wasn't canon, only that it's not a great episode overall.
Every character was in shock especially piccolo who is the best at estimating power levels. This is testament of vegeta actually powering up beyond his known level at that point in time in the series.
Just to clarify, Goku can only teleport to people not places and he has to be able to sense the energy of the person he's trying to teleport to, so teleporting Cell to Mars wasn't an option. As messed up as it was, King Kai's Planet was the best option Goku had and since King Kai already lives in the afterlife, life really doesn't change much for him.
One of the most underrated details that ppl either don't notice at all or don't talk about when it comes to Vegeta charging Cell is the fact, that Cell, even tho leagues above Vegeta still went ahead and guarded against his attack... Most ppl understandably get caught up in the epicness of the moment and don't give it a second thought, but I think it speaks VOLUMES, that Cell felt like he needed to guard/brace himself against the blast instead of just standing still and tanking it... Sure, you could argue about instinct and stuff, but the fact remains the same, he guarded, just in case, even tho he wouldn't have done it against any other of the present fighters. To put it simply, he knew better than to disrespect Vegeta in a moment like THAT and saved it for later LMAO
Every blast that a furious vegeta fired at cell is dedicated to all the pain trunks is feeling during his fatal wound. Vegeta is the father of the year for this moment, Fight me if you think otherwise lol. Also after this arc baris tee, you and Madison should react to dragonball next before ya'll react to the final arc in dbz
There's definitely some people in this comment section that have hate boners for Vegeta, you'll find them soon enough lol
She has made plenty of comments about DB that make me think she may have seen it already. 🤔
Love this episode, it's a Masterpiece Classic, In my opinion Vegeta at this point of moment he should've been pretty much able to turn also in the Super Saiyan 2 Form, because of the heartbreaking emotions when he saw his own son Trunks on the verge of death. 🙆♂️🤷♂️☯️
Not really. The only way Gohan was able to achieve this form was due to him forcibly unlocking his potential due to his anger. Vegeta simply didn't have the potential, and i think its explainable by him choosing to train alone even when trunks was with him. instead of The way goku and gohan perfected normal supersaiyan and then trained eachother with Gohan getting stronger than Goku and ending up training his own dad.
@@fatty1040 You clearly don't know how Saiyans Feelings and Emotions development works, Akira Toiyrama simply didn't want to give Vegeta the spotlight, he only cares mostly about Goku and Gohan, Vegeta's character it's the most Real and Authentic one from the show.
@@DavidLucian Lol i gave you a legit reason and why his emotions wasnt enough and you just blame the writer. Also vegeta had his moment, and he just willingly decided to make life worse for Earth by letting cell transform and beating trunks. So im glad he's the side here.
Vageta tards logic. He didn't even deserve to be a ssj. He said a shit character. Ssj2 is beyond vageta s character development
Vegeta had another year of training at this stage, so with extreme rage I agree he should have been able to reach SS2, if it weren't for Gohan's plot armor making him the only one. But SS2 Vegeta here would have led to a less climatic showdown so probably unfortunately a good thing Vegeta didn't go SS2.
Actually if you pay attention you'll notice that Cell, not only was restored to his perfect form.. but he had the same SS2 energy as Gohan.. complete with the electricity encompassing their body.. after all he has the DNA of multiple Saiyans and the closer to death they were when recovering from battle, the stronger they become once healed and well that was as close as possible... so
1: his cells remembered and restored his destroyed body to its perfect form
2: his Saiyan DNA allowed him to become even stronger than he was beforehand
3: his cells decided to "upgrade" its' info on Kakarot's abilities to include the Instant Transmission, so now he can travel anywhere in the universe and
4: he's got Frieza's DNA so he can survive in space after destroying a planet... he's truly the perfect being
Sooo he was on actually now on Par with Gohan.. would've been a rather close fight with the outcome unsure...I guess whomever wanted it more and was willing to dig deeper and push harder would come out on top
Something I think both of you missed that will try to clarify is that since Cell has saiyan cells he essentially got a zenkai boost after he survived his self destruction. Therefore, pre zenkai he was "Perfect Cell"; post zenkai he is "Super Perfect Cell". Post zenkai aka "Super Perfect Cell" is on par/relative with super saiyan 2 Gohan. Also FYI, you can see Cell's aura post zenkai has lightning effects exactly like super saiyan 2 Gohan.
Hope this helps :)
*MY BABY BOOOY*
Dis probably be one of my favorite Vegeta moment
10:02
1. Gets mad at his family being hurt
2. Swears the ultimate revenge
3. Takes off, unleashing hell upon the enemy
4. Refuses to elaborate (LOL)
Cell definitely came back stronger that's why they call this form super perfect cell he has an electric aura
It’s crazy because the timelines did end up becoming a bit similar with gohans arm being injured and goku still ending up dying
Guys please up my comment I understand this very well. Cell states in the manga I have powered up like son Gohan(after his suicide bomb on Goku). Cell receives Zenkais like saiyans but remember the closer to death a saiyan survives the stronger the boost. Cell literally survived all the way down to one cell making his zenkai boost extremely insane. This was Cells ssj2 equivalent pretty much.
In the japanese version, when Yamucha goes to check on him after spitting up blood, Trunks had just died. That fits so much better with Vegeta's reaction and subsequent rage. I don't understand why funimation changed it to being near death. 🙁
Can we just mention the incredible remix of Cell’s theme at the beginning here (Cell Returns). Just pure menace and threat, while still having that techno (robotic/android) quality to it. *chefs kiss*
He couldn't take Cell to Mars because instant transmission requires a ki signal to home in on. So he needs to have some kind of power source - in this case, King Kai - to warp to. If there's no life or some residual energy to home in on, and he can't teleport there.
Cell's just lucky that this wasn't a true "My Bulma" moment. Vegeta wasn't quite there yet.
This version of Cell is WAY stronger than he was before; Cell gets the same zenkai boosts that Saiyans do when he returns from near death. Notice that he's now got the same SSJ2 visual effect as Gohan does (before, he had the plain old SSJ visual and sound effects).
Interesting, I misremembered Cell’s resurrection as a plot hole, as I remembered the Kai version which said his nucleus, which is in his head, survived and that’s how he resurrected (which would’ve been destroyed with Goku’s instant Kamehameha); but here they actually clear the plot hole by saying they are in all his cells. Smart that they thought ahead for the dub
The last part of this video is basically every debate with a DBZ character. She says Cell's broken regen and hax can overcome Gohan while he says Gohan wins because he's stronger. You know what, this is actually an interesting debate. How would a fight have gone if Gohan wasn't hurt?
« WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY TRUUUUNNNKKSS ?!!! » 🤣🤣🤣
I think everyone was asking that same question at this point. “How are they going to beat Cell”. We have seen a little grim hopeless moments in DBZ. However I don’t think there is ever a point in the series that makes you feel more hopeless then this episode. Gohan being injured really bad, Goku is dead, Vegeta and Trunks are on the floor down and out, no sensu beans, Cell being able to fully regenerate at a micro level, learning the instant transmission, and coming back even stronger then ever. Can’t think of a moment in the series where things look as hopeless as they do now.
Gohan will stand tall and rise to the challenge despite how bad things look. Next episode has my favorite moment in the entire series. Can’t wait.
Edit: Also I think Madison is right. I think its implied that Cell is much much stronger then what he was before cause of his power boost and he had the Super Saiyan aurora and electricity around him which he didn’t have before. Cell also just hurt Gohan really bad with just one blast so I think he is much stronger now then he was before. Also Vegeta popping off on Cell and acknowledging Trunks was really amazing.
As you said though it put them in a even worse position cause now Gohan is very much wounded now. As much crap I give Vegeta for a lot of his ridiculous decisions like especially letting Cell become perfect to begin with I can’t really fault him for this. I mean like Cell blasted and wounded his son really bad in front him. I feel like any parent would have done the same.
Frieza fighting with Goku while only using a couple percent of his power was more hopeless. And after the spirit bomb failed, Goku couldn't even stand on his own.
@@deckzone3000 Highly disagree when Goku at the beginning was holding his own against Frieza at the beginning. It wasn’t till Frieza powered up and closed the gap. However Goku still had moves to fall back on that he didn’t use yet examples being the Kaiokan and the Spirit bomb. The Spirit bomb failed but there was also the hope of the Super Saiyan. The Super Saiyan legend was previewed since the beginning of the saga and once Goku became that the fight was over. The question became was just if Goku could get off the planet. As Piccolo says Goku always has tricks up his sleeves and isn’t finished till he is finished.
In this case there are no tricks to rely on or Goku. Goku is gone. Dead. He sacrificed himself thinking he saved the Earth but Cell survived and returned stronger then ever. At this point the only fighter that can stand up to Cell is Gohan who is very much wounded and can’t even use his arm anymore which was never a hinderance for Goku in his fight. Also Cell is way way stronger then Frieza not only that but possesses way more OP abilities at this point. The regeneration, the Saiyan ability to get stronger, the instant transmission. Right now there is no saving grace in sight. Literally none.
It takes Gohan using the kamehameha with one arm (which we never seen before other then Goku did it with his feet one time), Goku coming back in spirit with the father son kamehameha, every Z fighter to jump in the middle shooting Cell to take him down. It was literally an all or nothing situation with everything stacked against him. Absolutely nothing compared to Goku vs Frieza cause there was still always a glimmer of hope to hold onto during that fight and absolutely nothing with this other then hoping Gohan will somehow step up and even that would not have been enough if it wasn’t for a ton of outside interference. I would even say there is a moment in the Buu saga where things look really bad and worse then the Goku vs Frieza fight.
9:28 I have to say, it's very... bittersweet, hearing you say it out loud like that.
The truth is, yes, Vegeta absolutely *should* have ascended from that. I've seen arguments all over the internet about this, and people will throw around reason after reason that is based on absolutely nothing but the thoughts in their own heads.
Keep in mind that SSJ2 wasn't a "thing" at this point in time, for whatever that adds to the debate. Gohan had found the "next level", which was apparently referred to as a Super Saiyan Grade 5 until Goku coined 'Super Saiyan 2' later in the series. Makes sense, given Grades 2 through 4 were the results of training, and Grade 5 was a 'transformation' that came out of anger.
I suppose you could argue that maybe Vegeta did ascend, but Cell's power was so much greater that even ascending to SSJ2 didn't put Vegeta at his level. ... that's bollocks, of course, but you could say it if you wanted. Even after he returned as 'Super-Perfect', it's mostly agreed on that SSJ2 Gohan with both arms would've painted the landscape with Cell.
It's sweet because I'm glad people are able to recognize this odd plot hole, it's bitter because the plot hole shouldn't exist.
No Baris cell gets a zenkai. Every time he regenerates he gets a little bit stronger. But when he blew himself up and took out king Kai's world he was put on an equal playing field with Gohan after regenerating because of the zenkai boost. Saiyan cells and namekian cells are one hell of a combo. Regeneration and power boost from damage
" MY BABY BOOOOOOOOOYYY" -Vegeta in a different timeline
VEGETA, NO!
Vegeta, YES!
I'm surprised none of them mentioned the change in Cell's aura when he came back.
It shows that he definitely got a significant zenkai boost.
Single-handedly the greatest moment in DBZ for me. As a kid I hated Vegeta but when I saw this I realized in an arc full of so much character progression Vegeta was a completely different man then the person he was an arc ago. Vegeta went from my least favorite to favorite character. I’ve been rooting for him ever sense. Honestly rewatching this arc with you guys made me realize that the cell saga is peak Dragon Ball.
That part with Vegeta acknowledging he's ignored trunks all this time and all he's wanted was this little time he has left here in the past to get to know him and now, he's dieing and he losses it going after cell. And the final Kamehameha energy he sends to cell to beat him is by far the best scenes in all of dragon ball Z, GT etc of all time.
Ahhhhhh this this right here is vegeta coming full circle I love this every time I see it
Gohan's arm bleeding is a parallel when Future Gohan's arm was completely cut off by the Androids in the future
"let the girl go and go help your friends krillin" that right there proves she's a true DBZ fan and Z fighter. respect to your girl, in 2022 you dont hear that a lot so i rate it. and yeah this episode is crazy, I always wonder what could have been if gohan and cell fought it out. I dont know how cell was so confident after he just got humiliated an episode ago..i know he poweres up but damn. ill forever be curious.
great reaction guys!
