I’m confused , what does the spore forms into after it detach from sporangia ..pro thallus or sporophyte directly

Just have one doubt. In ncert it's mentioned that "the female gametophyte is retained on sporophyte". But the gametophyte (prothallus) and sporophyte are not attached together . So how the female gametophyte is retained on sporophyte ? . Btw really liked your your animation and explanation. 😊

A doubt sir. It's mentioned that female gametophyte is retained in the parent sporophyte. And the embryo(new sporophyte) grow inside the gametophyte.
That makes it seem like new sporophyte develop from old sporophyte without going to land
Please somebody clear this one for me

During the sporophytic stage sporangia are present on sporophyls produces spores.
The plant may be heterosporous or homosporous.

there are two kinds of pteridophytes, homosporous and heterosporous (but most pteridophytes are homosporous). By talking about homosporous or heterosporous, we are referring to the Sporophytes.The heterosporous pteridophyte produces two kinds of spores in which one of them germinate to become a male gametophyte and the other into a female gametophye. These gametophyte in turn produces male and female gametes respectively.

Hello wadrel...that means from the heterospores male gametes and female gametes are generating which will again fused and thus forming a sporophytic body and another that is homosporous condition in which normally prothallus will be develop and give rise to male and female gametes respectively in both the condition sporophytic body is forming...am I correct or any misconception is there; please correct ☺️
