Rani Rashmoni, who is most known for having founded the Dakshineswar Kali Temple and for her wild zeal and resistance to British East India Company aggression in 19th-century Bengal, recounts the events of her life, from the time she was an 11-year-old girl named "Rani" living in her ancestral village of Halisahar with her Vaishnav father and aunt to the time she married "Babu Rajchandra Das" of Janbazar, Kolkata. She also shows how she developed into an extraordinary woman defying all odds in the then British-ruled patriarchal society. The show continues her life's journey against the backdrop of the well-known "Marh" family, who are all ghosted.
