  • Using the HeadRush MX 5 with the Hotone Ampero MIDI Controller is a great and powerful solution that HeadRush users have been looking for to expand the capabilities of their HeadRush setup. Doing this will offer you endless possibilities as you can setup the Ampero Control to work the HR Looper, turn on/off Signal Blocks within a HR Rig, assign a tap tempo, and more. All you need is the Ampero Control, a MIDI Cable, and the Ampero Control App which you can download from the App Store for iOS and Android. Enjoy the video.

Just to update my earlier comment, I’m now using a meloaudio midi switch with a headrush gigboard, the meloaudio has 8 foot switches so inables me to control 8 blocks at once in stead of banking up & down. Also this frees up the 4 foot switches on the gigboard to go directly to 4 different pedalboards at any one time. It’s really great.
Incidentally I moved back to the gigboard due to the larger screen. As I always need glasses with the mx5. Thanks for you help this setup has been a great success. Cheers 🥂

The MIDI cable recommended at around 1:13 is a strange choice, because the MX5 has 1/8 inch TRS MIDI cable sockets, not standard 5 pin. I believe Boss makes an appropriate TRS to 5 pin MIDI cable.

Im wondering if you could setup in a way that if you push 1 button you can turn on and off not only one, but several blocks simultaneously? Also can you switch between 2 amps? The way I'd need it in my rig is to have 2 amps (A-B), where 'A' would be a dirty/heavy tone amp to which I could add extra drive/delay/rev etc. to have a lead sound, and 'B' would be a clean sounding amp, if that makes sense...

I use this controller with my gigboard mostly to have access to the looper and tap tempo while on the normal rig view. I tried to map a switch to control one of the gigboard switches, but no matter how I program it I always get the hold function of the switch. For example, if I program an ampero switch to control gigboard switch 3 I will always invoke the looper screen instead of the scene or whatever on that switch. If there's a way to make this work I'd like to know...
I don't just press GB switch 3 because it's on my desk... because bending over to fiddle with the touchscreen with a guitar is ridiculous.

From the Momentary type Group A (on press) and Group B (on release) the Looper CCs seem to want note value 0 on press and 127 on release.

This is a great how to video and made it so easy to setup the hotone ampero to my Headrush gigboard. I programmed it to both blocks and the looper, no problem. Great to be able to operate the looper with needing leave the rig view. But have a question, it appears your able to stop, start, record and overdub. Here's the issue, the peel function (CC72) works to delete the last layer recorded. There doesn't appear to be a way to clear via midi in the same was as on headrush on board switches. On the headrush, a tap on the peel switch deletes the last layer record, a tap and hold on the same peel switch delete the entire loop session. Tapping and hold the switch on the hotone, programmed to CC72 does nothing. It appears you are limited to only deleting one layer at a time, unless I'm missing something. Any ideas on this?

Hello, Is there a way to use the Ampero to to pull up individual Rigs that I made? I use "Setlist" Mode and want to be able to pull up any of my 14 Rigs that I use in a live show at any given time. EX: Rig # 110 and then switch to Rig #244 or whatever rig I have in my setlist. Thank you!

The best way to do this would be to copy and paste the patches that you want to access quickly in the Ampero Editor according to the setlist order. That's at least the way I would do it.

I'm having a few issues. I'm in Stomp mode. I set up Control to send rig up and rig down messages by sending simultaneous midi controls to channels 50-51 and 51-52 respectively. It's working ... sort of. However, I'm having some issue:
    1. Sometimes it jumps 2 rigs instead of one. It also sometimes jumps to the new rig for a second then immediately jumps back to former rig. Both these things seem to happen a bit randomly, because sometimes it's works correctly.
    2. It totally messes up the footswitches on the MX5. They start banking up and down instead of turning their assigned effect on and off. I you play with the switches for a while they eventually perform their assigned function, but it's all over the map
It's like the Control just gets the mx5 confused. I don't' know if it's the Control or the Mx5, but the combination is not working. I've messed with single, toggle, and momentary settings and that doesn't seem to make any difference. If the setting works at all, it also creates all the glitches.
    Any insights?

MVave has a built in battery, multiple Modes including remote Keyboard via Bluetooth. MIDI Out via TRS.
But no bank switching for commands so you can only program 8 CC with short and long press,
if you use TRS midi, you loose port for a the expression controller(no problem with the MX5).
