The shooting mechanics in this game are still my all time favorite. The way people react to being shot is awesome, as well as the blood spray and damage.
I always loved the damage in this game too, it felt very realistic, if you shot someone in the shoulder they *died*, they didn’t survive because they’re a higher level
@@henkarars I’d have to disagree with you on that one. I think rdr2 had the best effect damage and it was improved on with dismemberment effects. Rdr1 ragdolls are the best I’ve ever seen though.

Man, this game's sound design. The Winchester repeater and the Springfield rifle in particular had the most satisfying sounds. Hope the sound design in Red Dead Redemption 2 is at least as good as the first game.
I haven't played this in a while, and completely forgot about how the AI acted. Then I saw that guy get punched, drew his rifle and shot the puncher in the chest. Made my day.
The moon gravity effect of red dead 1 gives you more time to appreciate the ragdoll physics more than GTAIV's cinematic camera falls and high gravity. Although red dead 1's falling physics were slightly downgraded from GTAIV i have no complaints as the shooting/impact ragdolls were great.

I understand that this game is very serious, with very few funny moments. However some of the shootouts in the game are 100% slapstick humour
That's why RDR is futureproof. All the npc models are not generic. You feel like you kill a new npc everytime
