it's really cool and interesting to hear the KITT-footage with real sound XD
Fascinating behind the scenes stuff :)
It is so great to see some more of the backstory of Sessums & Slagle, and specifically some of the work of Dave Humpert and Chuck Welch. I had the good fortune of doing some side work for these productions, and knew Chuck when his mother had a hobby shop in San Bernardino. Chuck passed in 1991.
Thanks for the comments Joe and THANK YOU for contributing to the story awhile back during our research!
Just discovered this channel today. So glad I did. Great stuff!
Great stuff, especially the footage of KITT and the Hoff.
So awesome to see this behind the scenes footage. These guys were truly masters of their craft! Looking forward to tons more content! So glad Knight Rider Historians mentioned your channel!
We are happy too that Joe mentioned the channel. Glad to see KR fans connecting with S&S work on that show!
WOW Tom! Love the edit. So interesting, plus the original cuts of the Hoff. Great long-distance shot at the end showing the camera set-up.
So looking forward to more. The Knight Rider fans will go boogaloo over this.
At 10 years old I was stunned! ...........still am. Great work guys!
Wow one of my favorite episodes. Glad to see how they did the miniatures for it. Can't wait to see more.
This was the start of the double episode of knightrider..... knight of the juggernaut! Season 4 . 😉👍
That was fantastic! Love to see this stuff. The explosion looked real scale. Also really awesome to see the KITT turbo boost footage from 3 angles where the car lands, spins and then races offwith real sound and everything. Amazing. Footage never used on the show!
That's great, more of this Stuff please! It's a great view in the past, very interesting and put together very good! I guess it's quite some work capturing and editing this old videos. Can't wait so see more!
This was so intersting. Great work.
Can't wait for more Knight Rider footage and I didn't even know Sonny's car was a miniature when they blew it up. Love this channel
Congratulations, keep going
Thanks for this really interesting behind the scenes stuff that I never thought I'd ever get to see.
This is EPIC! Thank you, thank you very much!
So cool!!!
Wow!! You guys really made some fantastic scenes that would have been difficult or borderline impossible to do.I never realized that on Miami Vice Crocketts car was destroyed in miniature .Thank you for these amazing glimpses behind the scenes of your outstanding work.
Thank you very much, I love "behind the scenes", and Jack made a lot of them - they are associated with my childhood :)
Thank you for these. Great job
This is great video
So happy for this channel! I may have commented before but I visited Jack's shop/studio just after Broken arrow as they were filming a Mtn Dew Superbowl commercial!...great memories for a movie crazed, model building High school kid!!!
Awesome! What perfect, precise and painstaking work!
This was awesome. They did phenomenal work. Those behind the scenes are precious. Thank you for sharing.
Love it. Fascinating to see the expertise of these guys and awesome to see new behind the scenes footage for Knight Rider fans. It´s one of a kind. Keep it coming.
Great video!
Great content. Thank you.
Had to come back and watch this again. I wish the show had used KITT landing, spinning and racing off instead of just cutting it right after the landing. This makes me wonder how many times they had awesome footage after the short jumps they chose not to use but instead did the usual interior edit shot?
Didn't they do the miniatures for Dukes of Hazzard as well?
Absolutely! We will be posting videos about their work on that show, too.
Question for Sessums and Slagle: What film frame rate did you guys record at? And what frame rate did the studio record the Knight Rider real car jumps?
I've always wondered this but no one I've asked ever knew. I expect DOH, Fall Guy, A-Team all used the same type cameras and speed back then
When shooting ~1:8 scale 68 FPS was ideal for most shots, 120 was preferred for explosions. Sometimes they might jump back down to 68 to film smoky aftermaths. They used three high-speed cameras: the Arri Arriflex 35 III, Mitchell 35mm, and 35mm Photosonics 4E. All filmed up to 120 and the 4E could do 360. They sounded like chainsaws. The crew yelled to communicate, filming was MOS/no sound. The Arri was their "weapon of choice" as they could put it just about anywhere with a 400ft mag. The studio played back at 24FPS. Hope that helps!
@@jacksessumspeteslagle Wow thank you very much for taking the time to help!
Is there a book coming out?
Yes, it is near the finish line. It will be free and available online, certainly on its own Facebook site, so fans can comment, correct, and ask questions. After a period of time to account for that, it will be available as a digital book on a dedicated website. You'll be able to turn the pages [using your mouse] as you'd with a traditional paper copy.
im a bit late to the party. is this avail now ?@@thomashigginson2807
Talking to fast!! Slow down! 🙄
Thanks for the feedback! I probably won't talk slower in future videos. But you can slow the narration down in any CZcams videos by setting your playback speed to .75.
@KnightRiderHistoriansOffical
Have you seen these videos Joe?!
