    The reason I’m going for the glidecam is the more natural analog feel of the movement in the footage and so I don’t have to go to the gym. Cause damn pretty physical enduring to do it properly 😂❤️‍🔥

    Great video - very helpful. Thank you. Just one small thing that might help someone once perfect balance is achieved. If you have a glidecam that doesn't have screw adjustments like mine (and the one you demo) I find that sticking a small piece of 'Blu-Tak' or 'plastecine' to the lighter side does the trick. This is also a quick way of trimming the balance if it alters slightly when on a shoot.

    Your videos on balancing glidecams have been the best ones I've found. One comment -- choosing between glidecam and gimbal is more than just budget considerations. They produce different looks, with the glidecams being more "organic" with some of the natural swaying side to side that we see when we're running or riding a bike when making a turn. Gimbals are definitely more stable, and produce a more polished look. Batteries on most gimbals are better than they used to be, although this may be a reason to go with a glidecam -- no batteries to recharge. Gimbals seem to be lighter overall and easier to handle, as well as easier to learn. Several things to think about when choosing between them.

    The cage you have seems to lift the mount base a bit. My biggest issue with manfrotto plates and glidecam are the locking lever hits either the camera or the base without locking properly. But your knob has freedom to turn. What's that cage used? Can you switch battery without taking cam out of it? Is there a different option?

    Hi Josh, I have the CameTV vest and Laing glidecam and really like them. I have been looking at the tru-horizon stabilizer add-on for stabilizers. Have you ever heard of it and what would be your thoughts. Not much on CZcams about it.

      Hey man! It's a nice concept, but NOT for that price. I'd rather get a Crane 2. Pluse, the Tru-Horizon ruins the whole look and point of manual stabilizers.

    I have a glidecam type knockoff from china and when i place it on the C stand with the handle on the right side of the stabilizer and balance it it looks perfectly balanced but when i place it on the C stand again with the handle on the left side of the stabilizer it's off balance again and it's so frustrating 🥴Is it possible that the bearing is defected or something? I tried shooting test footage and it pans left and right just enough that the motion blur on 24fps 1/48 shutter makes it look unusable...

      For any given camera, he amount of weight you need depends on the length of the shaft. A shorter shaft will require more weight but is easier to maneuver. If weight is critical, lengthen the shaft and reduce the weight.

      You are vey close to perfect, the first step is to adjust the unit so that the shaft remains horizontal like yours is. Then just move the gimble 1.5-2 cm towards the camera or if the gimbal does not move lengthen the shaft by 1.5-2 cm. You should be in near perfect drop time.

  • @Albanez39
    @Albanez39 Před 3 lety

    Most important thing everyone seems to miss: The slower the drop test is (>2seconds), the more will the stabilizer sway! A shorter drop test (~1seconds) will be a lot easier to use!!!
