These were the Pioneers and Real Bowhunters. No crazy gimmicks and Camera's to tell them when Deer were moving. Their Harvest were the Real Trophy's. Love it. RIP Fred Bear
I really love this stuff, recurves and old compounds, vintage camo, blue jeans amd Jones caps, square body SUVs, climbing up a tree by the branches and an authentic love of the outdoors. As hunters today we are definitely progressing in a bad direction
This video warms my heart. Blue jeans and old school camo, early compound bows that probably shot less than 200fps. Bowhunting was much simpler then and more wholesome. Now it's a super competitive, high dollar industry bent on selling expensive gadgetry. All about big racks and big $$$ these days.
So many great historic hunting videos made by Fred Bear, Ben Pearson, Howard Hill, Bill Negley, Jim Dougherty and others. They helped inspire many kids to take up a great past time instead of making choices that took them down the wrong paths. Thanks for sharing.
This video makes me want to sell my VXR, my scentlok, all my modern gear and pick up my grandpa's bow and just hunt simpler. Funny how calm and relaxed these guys are, most of the guys I know that hunt nowadays are so high strung and almost stressed about their hunting. I think we're losing sight of what it's all about.
@@ImaOkie Actually I have simplified my stuff some. Still hunting with a modern Mathews bow, but I'm not longer using sights, a stabilizer or a peep. Also got rid of my rangefinder and a few other things. I get a better overall experience now for sure 👍🏼

I can only imagine what all these great "real" hunters would think about todays lazy hunters using atv's, utv's, game cams and every conceivable modern device to kill a turkey or deer, js. Very refreshing to see hunting in a simpler time with so many kids involved without all of todays distractions and cellphones were nowhere to be found in the 80's thankfully!
funny, this video is 41 years old...and probably contains more valuable information for beginners than about 95% of the content on youtube combined. I guess it shows how much modern hunting content is really just about selling hunting gear that people don't actually need. It's really kind of sad actually. They didn't even have to show the kill shots to make an enjoyable video.

I loved watching this! I grew up watching Jim Dougherty and Fred Bear. I miss the simplicity of those days. I enjoyed seeing Ben Rodgers Lee also.
