  • I'm finally making the 1790's Regency gown of my dreams! I have seen so many people make this gown, and they all turn out lovely. I am so excited to have a version of my own and to be able to experiment with so many different spencers and overrobes!

Thank you! I love an empire waist. Some people say it's not flattering at all but I've always liked the way it looks on me :)

Very pretty! I like the extra bit of fullness in the skirt…

Thank you!! I’m very pleased with how the skirt turned out- I think the extra fullness adds something special for sure!

Snap! I just this afternoon pulled out that pattern as I wanted to make it in a light while fabric and then m make the 'over-thingie' what ever it is called. Are you planning to make the 'overthingie' too? I hope so as you can inspire me :)

I did make the ‘over-thingie’ as you call it but modified it quite a bit from the pattern, as I was taking inspiration from a fashion plate that had a different design. That video is set to premier August 6!

did you line it? I'm making this and the lining instructions are wild. I've been watching videos and looking at reviews like crazy and it seems like everyone did their own version of lining instead

I did follow the instructions given in the pattern for the lining. The whole section in the beginning of the video where I talk about the “underbodice” is the lining part. But only the bodice is lined. The skirt and sleeves are not. I wear a shift, stays, and petticoat underneath for silhouette and modesty.

I have a love/hate relationship with this pattern, but after seeing your video I might try again! ❤

Ooooh, I’m curious to know what you do and don’t like about it. I have to say, there were definitely things that frustrated me about the fit of bodice/shoulders, even before I made my modifications. But it was still helpful to have the pattern to use as a starting point

@@EmilyJeanCreatesHi Carlee, was it the bust size that gave you grief with this pattern? I had to add lots more to the bust area on mine - I am more generous on top than the pattern allows but that being said, Idid find that it is quite flattering for me and fun to wear with or without the corset - lots of swish fun 🙂

    • @EmilyJeanCreates

Oh interesting - the bust size frustrated me as well but in the opposite. It almost doesn’t gather enough to not gape on me, even with using super thin delicate fabric. And I think because I need to gather it to the max makes it pull fabric oddly from the sides, which causes these odd fold lines to form across the upper chest

@@EmilyJeanCreates yep I can see that happening - there is the Blacksnail pattern that gets around that problem as it has side pieces that stay stable when you gather up the middle bit - I have made that too.
