  • The GamaKay (Womier) K61, the 60% version of the K66 and K87, is one of the best budget keyboard you can get. It offers acrylic layers, hotswappable sockets, stock gateron switches, RGB underglow, RGB backlit keys, and stock doubleshot ABS shine-through keycaps. You can use it as-is, then later upgrade the keyboard by modding the stock stabilizers and switches (or replacing the stock switches entirely).
    Correction: There is software support for the K61, you can find it on the Banggood product page below. However, you cannot remap any keys. You can change the brightness & speed of the various backlit RGB modes (did not see settings for underglow RGB), and you can change the USB Polling Rate. On initial launch, the software showed the Report Rate to be 125hz at first, but you can change it to 1000hz. I don't think USB Polling Rate matters as much on keyboards vs mouse, but it does seem like the keyboard defaults to a USB polling rate of 125hz. The software also allows you to create macros.
    Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to use the Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, Scroll Lock, or Pause key on this keyboard. It's not mapped to any of the keys on the function layer, and the software does not allow you to remap keys.

    Interesting you are able to test input delay on the board. You could make a whole video dedicated on that I think, detailing the method and showcasing it. Personally I'd also be very interested in seeing the input delay on an optical switch vs a traditional mech switch too, given all the marketing hype. No one has really tested that yet to my knowledge anyway.

    Hi jimmy, another awesome video! I was wondering if you could make a video on how to use/how mechmarket and geekhack work? I've been in the community for about a year now and those two resources are still super confusing and foreign to me. Just an idea, keep up the great work!

    • @jimmynguyen973
      @jimmynguyen973  Před 3 lety

      Thanks Charlie! And thanks for the idea, maybe I'll make a video about resources in the keyboard community (which may include things like Discord servers). I'll answer your question now though.
      For geekhack, my time is mostly spent in the Interest Check section. If I like an IC, I bookmark it.
      geekhack.org/index.php?board=132.0
      The Group Buy section is the other part I visit sometimes, but not very often. It's mostly filled with closed Group Buys. I will bookmark Group Buys I've joined to visit every now and then to get updates (but I mostly get updates from Discord servers)
      geekhack.org/index.php?board=70.0
      There are other sections on GeekHack for people to chat about other keyboard/unreleated things, but I never go there.
      For MechMarket, I use it when I want to buy things from Redditors, or sell my own things. I will always sort by New and have it auto refresh, checking back on it every now and then. Things get snatched up on there fast. To sell things, follow the rules outlined in the wiki
      www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/wiki/rules/rules#wiki_timestamps
      When you get someone who's interested, get their Paypal email and send them a Paypal invoice. Always Good and Services, NEVER, ever Friends & Family.

    Great video! I find it interesting in how you lube your stems. Does the lube spread out evenly when compared to manually lube brushing the stems? Cuz honestly I find lubing to be enjoyable but so tedious, if this method is just as good as manual brush lubing I might as well do it that way from now on! Thanks again for the great video!!

    • @jimmynguyen973
      @jimmynguyen973  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for watching! Tub lubing does spread the lube out more evenly, but the downsides are using more lube vs brush lubing, and getting lube over the stems. I don't uss this method for tactile stems however because I don't usually lube the legs for tactile switches. Overall, tub lubing allows me to save time and spread it out evenly so thats why I do it on linear stems.

    • @perdanakarim1
      @perdanakarim1 Před 3 lety

      @@jimmynguyen973 thanks for the reply! I've been on the side of tactile gang ever since I've tried Durock Koalas (T1 recolour basically). Sadly they came factory lubed so the stem had a light coating of thin lube which honestly made me think to might as well lube the whole stem. Tactile wise it's still there but later one during the break in period it the tactility felt rather weak. Bought some more and I'll definitely skip lubing the stems all together (costed me an arm and a leg cuz where I live this hobby definitely ain't cheap). Wish I had known the tub lubing method when I was using Gat Yellows, it was such a pain and took a long time to finish but the end result was totally worth it.
      Thanks again for the reply and hope to see more great content from you! :D
