    I used a similar 24 volt system, 200 amp battery in my cargo trailer camper and have been very happy with it. I can power anything I need - coffee maker, induction cooktop - with no problems. Thanks for taking the time to share your journey in New Mexico!

    Great Video!. I did noticed one thing that you may want to think of, a PV Disconnect switch, it looks like you went directly from the panels to the Inverter. Where I live its also Code to have a PV Shutoff, not just a battery shutoff. Good Luck out there!

    I have a similar system with a 24v 3k MPP Solar all-in-one, two 12v 180Ah Battery Evo in series and 800watts of solar on my flat roof. Have my 23 cf refrigerator, 11cf freezer, front load washer, and gas dryer, 75" flat-screen TV, and a small window AC all hooked up to the MPP unit with 10AWG heavy duty extension cords. A short extension cord to plug into the house wall outlet to charge when the sun goes down. So simple and easy to do.

    Regarding the tiny house, it is probably time to get tire covers to protect them from deteriorating in the sun.

    I put the same 24V Growatt in our family vacation cabin. Still working out where/how to build out solar but at least only needing the generator to charge the batteries and not every time we need power is a big improvement.

    I have a 300ah Ampere Time battery in my conversion van, recently upgraded from a 200ah with plans to settle on the 400ah. Ampere Time makes EXCELLENT products and have great customer service. 200 watts of solar on the roof paired with a 30 amp charge controller and a 40 amp DC to DC charger.
    Try not to fully charge or discharge lifeP04 batteries, keep them between 10 and 90%. The less you cycle them, the longer they will last. I very seldom allow my battery to charge past 13.6v, 13.5v seems to be the sweet spot.

      This is somewhat over emphasized yeah in theory it's better but in practice even at 100% dod you have something like 5000 to 7000 cycles before you hit 80% capacity. With a solar system that only sees one cycle a day if that your batteries are going to degrade more due to age then anything. 5000 cycles is nearly 14 years. Imo you are better off just using your batteries. Given how fast battery tech and costs have been moving 15 years is an eternity.

    Love my 24volt 3000watt Growatt. Installed mine in converted uhaul with a similar battery system. Added the 24 volt to 12 volt converter. Runs a 10 cube fridge and water heater with no problem 24hrs

    Well done! You have lots of room to expand with that growatt setup and I think it would serve you well. I would encourage you to get a 12v system set up sooner rather than later for lighting. 12v LED lighting is very efficient and even more so if you stay all DC rather than going from DC in the battery to AC from the inverter to a transformer back to DC to run the lights.

    You did a pretty good job of installing. The nice thing is all that equipment is very usable when you do the install for your cabin. I used SimpliPHI lithium batteries as they have the ability to do 10,000 cycles and have a ten year warranty.

    That looks like a very easy set up for an average person that doesn’t have a lot of knowledge about that you should take your footage and do a step by step video of that set up because for simple people like me that would be awesome to watch and learn.     I have been using the similar growatt but in 48v for over a year and it has worked flawlessly. Please read the section in the manual about mounting though, it should be mounted on a piece of cement board or other non flammable backer. I would highly recommend removing it off the wood structure. Enjoy your build.

    Yo if you get a window ac you should check out the midea u series of window units. It's got a viable speed compressor like a mini split and is the most efficient window ac money can buy. It's also very quiet for a window unit. Once it gets down to temp and throttles back it's btus output it's nearly silent and only pulls like 150 to 200 watts and even on a hot day at full speed my 8k btu unit only pulls 450 to 500 watts. I'm on my second summer with mine and I can't speak highly enough of it. I didn't realize until I got just how much the noise of my old ac unit was bothering me. A full on mini split would be even better but they start at about double the up front cost.

    Very cool. One recommendation I would make is to mount everything higher off the floor. I know it is a tiny house on wheels so the structure is already elevated but I would still be worried about water.

    I think you've made all the right decisions. Iron Phosphate and 24v is the way to go when you've got a 4800wh battery to charge and you want longer battery life. The MPPT charge controller in that combo box must be what they call a buck controller which allows you to charge a higher voltage battery with your panels in parallel, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to use that single panel on your Element to test it. The only simpler way to go would have been a 4800wh self contained power supply, but that would have cost about $5000, with a lot of extra features you don't need and no way to add another battery. I went the way you did it on the first version of my Sienna setup. But, I used a 48v battery because that allowed me use a cheap moped battery. The buck MPPT controller for that setup was half the price of a 12v one. When you get it up and running for daily use, let us know what the continuous power drain is to run the inverter full time without any loads. I doubt you will ever need 12v service since all your other devices come with 120vac chargers. If you ever do, the 24v to 12v converter is only about $20.

      I went with a 24 volt system but have 2 inverters, one 6000 watt low frequency split phase inverter charger (85 watts no load consumption) and one 3000 watt high frequency daily use inverter with 9 watts consumption at no load. It has 3600 amp hours of lithium motivation. This is my first home build that has no 12 volt outlet or USB ability but it will run my Vulcan welding machine.

    Nate, energy has just got so expensive here in Europe. My mother has a two bedroom apartment and her monthly electricity bill is set to increase from £70 per month to £170 per month from the first quarter of 2023. I'm planning to move to Edinburgh myself and hope to find an apartment with Solar Panels/Tiles.

    Thanks for the vid. love what u all are doing. Im converting my workshop/playroom to solar would like to do wind {the 55gal. barrels in 1/2 looks interesting}also even though there's not really enough to sustain anything. A word of wonder, would it not be a good idea to line or incase the cubby box/fuse room with a anti-flammable material? At least have a battery enclosure? Have u ever noticed any part other then the panels being hot?

    If you run a 12v dc or 24v dc mini split AIR-Cond; you will use a fraction of Amper/hours of the house battery and sustain heat of day use off the solar panels... Mitsubishi makes several models and BTU's... !!

    I run a Midea 8k BTU Inverter AC. It runs 800watts on max (60F setting). It runs 24/7 but not at max and it’s plenty. I have two of these Ampere times though but honestly one is probably enough. 2 is better with cloudy days. 1500 watts or so of solar. I don’t have much else plugged in yet though.

    I bought a similar battery and inverter, but in the growwatt manual it says it can only be used with a communication type lithium battery such as a bms cable hook up like a server battery. Do you know anything about that? Was yours the same?

      You can use standard 10AWG PV cable. Especially such a short run like that. Most MC4 connectors are for 10AWG anyway.

    lolololo its difficult to say something...did you see some of the houses that use generators...it's also good for charging your batteries on stormy days. You will need 1,000 watts for a air conditioner about that.....plus what ever else your using. Dont forget the solar panels cause heat to the batteries, wires get hot especially with 800 watts of solar panels. A generator can charge them and run an air conditioner, its been cool this beginning of July, usually July first is 100+ sometimes 110+ ..sorry

    I have argument for going 12v.
    I went 24v for a time and hated it.
    Here is why I choose 12v.
    * If anything happens where your batteries are not charged. You can always charge with a vehical while still using.
    * if anything breaks you can go to most auto parts store to fix. Rather then length time without.
    * You can use LED lights direct for lighting.
    Now for the downside.
    * invertor are smaller. But this really doesn't effect me. My 24v was 3500w and my 12v is 3000w. But if I wanted bigger it hard to find in 12v.
    Not that I see needing more.
    Needing more means more battery needed. And let's face it. Battery bank is the costly part.
    I also just use rv/ marine batteries. They can last 10 years.
    But I wish I knew someone in New Mexico, close to El Paso TX, that rebuilds batteries.

      If anyone wants to go 24v..I have 2kw in panels.
      1000w was never hooked up. And the other i used.
      And I have a sine wave 3500w invertor.
      I will sell the panels I did not use and invertor. So 1000w 24v and 3500w sine wave invertor for $1800.
      We can meet in El Paso.
      Not selling the used panels, because cows walked on them. ( glass is broke, rather shattered, on them.)

      My Victron Smart Shunt won't transmit 14 feet through the wall. The Renogy BT-1 and the BT-2 on the unit next to it both transmit battery data through that wall. Victron was a big disappointment.

    I know is when I started my solar thing 27 years ago and had three batteries and only a thousand amp battery which is 135 amp hour and had three of those it was enough for a few things it helped me pay off the solar panels and stuff like that I bought but then again I only had four small solar panels and something just slightly bigger still small solar panels paid them off in 6 months time with whatever I saved on not paying for electric bill because that made that I could go that much cheaper but more batteries were better because I was able to run more things more solar panels are better because then I was able to run more things but you can't do everything with 4 15 Watts solar panels and 2 80 Watts solar panels but I actually live in a house with electric kitchen stove and a refrigerator that's made probably in the 1930s which uses a heck of a lot more electricity than a 1500 watt converter can do which everybody brings on CZcams that they're 15 of my converter can run a refrigerator I can't run mine and I'm not going to go out and buy a $2,000 refrigerator when I don't have the money so I just have a bigger converter I use for it of course my kitchen stove is a 2,400 watt to 3600 watt 50 Hertz on 240 volt or it's a 50 amp break big heavy duty cables very dangerous that's run off my inverter stove oven. You might be happy for a while but soon you're going to want to have more solar panels and more batteries and find out you want at least 10 200 amp hour batteries why actually I want 24 but that's besides the point.

    I desperately need your advice! Everyone, feel free to advise me as well.
    I had 2 men working on the solar system in van.
    They replaced the batteries with a LiFePO4 12.8V 78Ah and a 12.8V 35Ah 448Wh.
    They installed a Pure Sine Wave Inverter 12V Input, Power 2500W, Output 120V.
    I also have a Victron Smart Solar Charge Controller, MPPT 100/30.
    When the electrician hooked up everything sparks began flying, the system got hot, and he has given up trying to set it up. I have no solar power now in my van, which is my home.
    Please help! I can't waste any more money and I have no idea what I need. Thank you.

      You need someone that knows what they are doing. The batteries should be the same size and if sparks flew, they hooked it up wrong!!!! I guess there aren’t any fuses either? A fire waiting to happen. Try to get a personal reference.
