I remember a guy resign to me while he was +9 on elo because he thought he was getting checkmated and couldn't take the pressure and resign. Best part the piece that made the check was completely hanging too, it was like just a pawn capture

Yes he can it's an equal trade in material but a positional disadvantage but not enough to be an instant loss he really just gives up at the first hurdle
