For people saying that Taemin “sugar-coated” his words, taemin is known for speaking with no filter too. He danced to girl group choreos so he knows the technical parts of her dance and pointed them out. Also, Taemin appreciates feminine movements and even incorporated them in his choreography just like in his song, “Move”
Also, gfriend choreos are hard. Try dancing to them while being in perfect sync with the other members. Good luck.

@@greeng6914 he wanted dances to be genderless because of that stereotype. He showed that there is no such thing as feminine or masculine movements because all dance styles are open for all genders. Korea is a conservative country so when he released “Move” it’s like he wanted to tell them that the border between what they see as feminine and masculine is nonexistent.

it's normal if Kai said that it didn't look tiring for him, because he saw it from his perspective as a boygroup member, and also most of SM groups have a difficult and tiring choreography so his standards are different

And before he said it looks easy, he made an introduction by saying, "we do choreos for men..." meaning he has a different standard and he wants to clarify first what he meant.

Well, it's a fact that dances of girl groups will be easier than boy groups. Men have more strenght, it's only natural to have a lot more powerful moves. He was just being honest, and that was my opinion too. That being said, gg dances can be complex too.
@@winhart9086 Sexy dances may be harder to do, but Korean girl groups sexy dances aren't even that sexy or hard. If you look at female back up dancers they do it better than the idols, and western artists and dancers sexy choreos are way harder than what they do.

That's very true, they lean more towards the cute side but when compared to the dances of boy groups like EXO and BTS it seems very easy since both BTS and EXO have dances that are truly tiring
Kai was just straightforward. While Taemin really analysed the dance and pointed out some technical details that the girl finds difficult to pick. This is why I love Taemin. He would understand your weakness and encourage you to do better. Give that choreography to a guy and see how he performs it. Some steps/moves may seem simple but it's hard when it's time to execute them.

Just because someone is less talented than the individual they're criticising, it does not mean they don't know anything - especially when it's not even about his skills at dancing. I do not need to be a master in a certain subject to judge things pertaining to that. I don't need to be the world's best dancer to know that Kai and Taemin are great at it. I am really proud of kai for speaking the truth in front of so many people and on a show. He gave honest opinion. And that's an opinion of one of the best dancers of kpop mind you. Rather than taking in a negative way people should appreciate him for speaking his mind. And for heaven's sake don't compare kai and taemin. Taemin is a person who will take positive things and motivate you and kai is a person who will tell your mistakes and motivate you. They are different persons. And both are kpop's best dancers.
He is not the best dancer in K-pop, kid, the most artistic one maybe, maybe but that's another type of dance. EXO movement are weak, so is BTS, so is the majority of nowaday boygroup, they're not really dancing, it's just moving to look like dancing, you can call that dancing but you need to distinguish that those dance move are far less demanding than the dance moves as such of TVXQ or 2PM. Girl groups dance never backed down from their previous difficulty, everytime there's a slide move while standing up straight, they're actually move their entire body weight using one leg because that knee has to sustain the weight throughout the body bending.
Male group do slides while bowing down, that's easier because you don't move during the slides.
Do some actual dancing.

Why the hell only kai gets the hate??? The other idols were also saying that the dance was not that difficult/ tiring. Not saying they should get hate. None of them should get hate, including kai for their honest responds.

i think its more to do with the fact that he didn't necessarily have to undermine her story by saying that. its a bit like, what did he have to gain from saying that? he didn't move into another story or anything afterwards. he just said it.
i agree it doesn't look that hard to do watching it. it doesn't look like she has to put a lot of effort into it, but a lot of dances are like that. ballet for example is designed to look as effortless as possible, but at this point everyone pretty much knows that ballet is one of the most gruelling dance styles out there. (on that note tho, that's probably why kai didn't think it was hard, because he's ballet trained, and nothing really compares to the intensity of ballet)

Tbh I think she probably puked because of exhaustion and the strict diet they're put on... not proportionate to the energy required to practice singing and dancing? Gfriend choreos are actually one of the hardest for the gg groups. This part may no have looked hard but look at the entire choreo. They have lot of jumps and shiftings that require stamina. It may not be as hard as exo’s choreo but it is. Anyway I think he said that to entertain as it’s a variety show
Win Hart i mean even if he's being honest, is it something that should've been taken as offensive?, he was giving his own opinion objectively based on his experience as a great male dancer. Yerin too, when saying such a statement in front of an audience that's consisted of her seniors (and great dancers) should've held back or rethink her wordings. Throwing out statements like that in front of professional dancers, what do you expect them to do when the dance itself is not as tiring as what the statement expect it to be?

You're right, but at the same time, Taemin said that not just because he is understanding and kind but because he's just way more experienced than Kai, too, especially with "feminine" dance moves and because of that, also has a lot of respect for "female" choreography. Kai was being ignorant because he doesn't have nearly as much knowledge. Taemin was also more thoughtful because he looked at it from Yerin's perspective.

Afterschool and Orange caramel are no joke, I even watched how the members had struggled to do the pole dancing with bruises all over their bodies. Though I ain't a dancer but I think through practices, we can just master it but to make your body looking like having a magnet on is super difficult. I think blackpink's dances are more complicated than hers.
AA Ting Ikr? Buddies are lacking of common sense. If everyone were to be the judges, many would claim that it isn't difficult as per stated. Let alone when it's a cute dance. Boy's groups dances (tho dance should not be related to gender but this is my opinion) are a lot difficult. With the stunts, doing the 'back flip' and stuffs, are they (Gfriend) going to do that? Honestly with the amount of dieting these poor girls do I feel like even those simple dances are pretty hard to do. Now you might say that applies for the guys too, they actually have muscle and are very strong. The girls are not allowed to have that much muscle so I feel like Yerin's point is valid. The idols probably said that it was not that hard because they haven't experienced it before. (notice that im NOT BLAMING KAI ONLY).
actually male idols go through all that as well. they also have body image issues, theyre also pushed to diet, both by their companies and by the pressure they put on themselves. baekhyun currently thinks hes fat and should lose weight, when hes probably the skinniest hes ever been. minseok was put to diet i believe since prior to debuting. MANY male idols have fainted on stage, and off stage. the fact that they have muscle and work out (not all, even) doesnt keep them from being physically exhausted. having muscle doesnt save you from exhaustion
Guy's are hassled for weight alot too. Taemin's legs are around the same size of a thin girl's. Infinite's Sungjong had a 24 inch waist, he could wear After School Nana's dress. And she's a model. EXO during debut had some of the skinniest arms I've seen on guys. They both have a valid point, Gfriend dances are harder than math.
Yes, I do realize that and its absolutely horrible. But the guys have muscle and the girls don't have nearly as much. Even if they weigh the same that obviously means that the girls are a lot weaker. So the dances will generally obviously feel harder for the her. Maybe she was doing a very strict diet while learning that dance so she threw up even though it was supposedly easy.
Pranavi D. yea but for her to say that gf choreo is harder or diff than other gg is really too much even when her sunbaes r there too. I remember AF also have to diet for their Bang choreo, their outfits r two pieces so the belly would be shown. they had to make it tone and that too, dancing with a drum. Not only gf had it hard, others too & sometimes even harder but we don't see them complaining. Much Respect to Sunbaes

from a dancing perspective, i can say that the choreography that yerin did was quite hard. the spins that she did were very detailed and being able to move your entire body at the same time must have taken a long time to practice. i think the largest difference between boy and girl group dances is that boys usually have bigger steps in their movement and do footwork mostly, and girls focus on their entire body, doing things with much smaller, but defining detail.
From a dancer perspective of many years most girl dances including Gfriends is really not hard at all. I understand it can be for inexperienced beginner dancers but for example me, I have been dancing since I was 4. The dances comes so easy and don't over think the moves and body focus. When you've been dancing for so long and enjoy it, it really isn't a problem and comes pretty much naturally. The synchronization also isn't hard at all. Its quite easy when you have people who are actually trying to dance and become better and people with experience. You just remember the counts and have to know the choreograph.

at least I haven't seen any other girl group who come close to gfriend's synchronization. so you're saying you're better than all those dancers? those spins and turns requires balance and control, on top of that they have to do it in an elegant and graceful way, which isn't something you could achieve. synchronizing with 5 other people while spinning and jumping continuously is hard.

I agree that the other men - outside of Taemin - were dismissive of Yerin's opinion. The difference is that Kai specifically compared it to what men do and used that to discredit it. It does come off snotty and the reason most people probably came for Kai is because 1) he had a specific comment and 2) because they know and love Kai and don't like that he's downplaying the skill set that a woman brings to the table.

Let me get this straight, Yerin said that their choreography was sooo hard that she nearly vomited. When asking Taemin's opinion he humbly said that yeah, from his perspective the'res some technical difficulties. Then After School members were saying that their choreography was harder( one of them even said that their lips turned blue) and advised Yerin that maybe the way she feels is because of her health. She needs to work out to lose her muscles. Then Kai was ASKED for his opinion so he said "As he does men's choreography it didn't seem hard to him" which was highlighted.
Now the issue is ya'll are calling Kai a misogynist, sexist and what not, all because the guy said that the choreography didn't seem hard to him. I agree that maybe, he could've worded it out better but that doesn't mean he should be hated on like this. The dance was easy and it shouldn't be hard to admit it. Even Lizzy stepped in to make a point that Afterschool (her group) has harder dances then hers. Gfriend's dances are typically not hard, hey just require good stamina.
Taemin doesn't really sugarcoat things, he's actually really honest too and that has caused him some problems in the past because he says things before thinking well (not enough to become scandals but still)... He's just really nice and maybe just felt like complimenting her since the mcs were being kind of rude to her, but yeah, he's definitely not a sugarcoater.
People need to understand that the dance that girl did was hard for girls because we have all these things that could make it difficult to dance this dance but when a boy sees it and dance it you can see that he dances the dance with no distractions like heels and mini skirt so I myself can see were kai is coming from but I can see were some in the comment are coming from. Yeah I have to agree that Kai was being really blunt, but he was also going along with the conversation. Plus he's probably purely considering the dance itself and not the extreme dieting she had to undergo (kai did say he was comparing the bg and gg which is a bit unfair if just purely dancing). I have to admit that the dance doesnt look hard, but I dont know how to dance so my opinion isn't the same as a dancer's. Still, it's understandable that it would be tiring for her because shes under an extreme diet to stay thin and there are probably lots of subtle aspects that make the dance more tiring.

My two cents on the whole dancing matter:
- First of all, beginning the story with "we threw up while dancing this coreography" was unfourtunate. I don't doubt that they did, but considering how idols schedules are they probably hadn't eaten or slept sufficiently meaning they were low on energy, as well as having to practice this exact choreo for x number of hours. Of course you would then want to throw up, that doesn't mean that the choreo in itself makes you want to do so every single time you perform it.
- Secondly, I'm not a dancer and has no knowledge regarding what is considered difficult or not, but it is true that GFriends choreo has alot bigger movements (arms, legs, jumps etc) than other girl groups - which can be the reason why they're dubbed as powerful and difficult.
- Generally girl- and boygroups' dances are different in style. The girls are often supposed to be cute or sexy, none of these equals big and fast dance moves (which boygroups dances often include). Other than that ALL DANCING is physically tiring, it gets your heart pumping and blood flowing so to say that one type of dance is easier than another might be correct BUT it does not by any means mean that you won't get tired from doing it.
- What the companies and fans want from their respective group also differs depending on the gender. The boys can preferably be muscular while the girls should be thin. Of course that will reflect on your muscle mass, the amount of food you get to eat as well as how much energy/power you can put into the choreo.
- Finally: Yerin handled the situation very well by being able to make everyone laugh instead ("Oh, is it not tiring?"). Taemin was very good in his response, which in my opinion truly shows that he's danced for many years but is also used to the variety stage, in explaining that the dance moves might not be big and powerful but there were alot of technical details in every part of the dance that you have to master. Then there is Kai. He obviously could've phrased himself better and given a softer impression while he said it, but that comes down to variety exposure (in addition, I think that he, as well as everybody else in the audience, were disappointed by the level of cuteness in the dance since they expected something like a cardio pass).
Yep, this turned into an essay. If anybody is knowledgeable in dance could they point me to some kpop dances that are considered difficult (technically or physically)? The kpop scene holds a much higher aptitude than the western singers and I've grown used to the skill that they're showing.
I really agree with your opinion. Both groups have hard choreography's, but I'm worried about Exo-ls being able to stop this and blaming everything on Yerin. Buddies stop already, so I'm getting really annoyed from them.
In regards of the dances that are considered hard, i would point out, in the first place, After School's First Love. They spent months practicing pole dance for those stages, and ended up covered in bruises.
For boygroups, the first one that comes to mind is SHINee's Lucifer. It's extremely fast paced and intrincate and when you try to learn it you get the sequence but you just dont have enough time to get your limbs to do the thing? Much less make it look good. Its possible of course, its just... a hard one.
Also, -i'm not too sure about this one, as I didnt see it as difficult personally, but I just remembered Yeri from Red Velvet said she hated the dance to Rookie because it was very hard to sing while dancing. It's probably tiring as its very fast paced, though not as difficult techincally speaking.
If you read closely, I think she said they were more tiring than other gg choreos, not harder. She wasn't talking about technical aspects. She was talking about being tired from the dance, which could be due to a number of factors (ie: position changes, her having more lines during the more difficult parts of the dance, etc)
yep. it would be easier for girls to do tough dance routines if they we're allowed to be a little bit muscular (abs, toned arms/legs) but they aren't allowed to be that way so they have to do cute dances and starve themselves... And girls menstruate so i think it's better to just have cute dance because it would be easier to dance when you're on your periods (if you have painful periods).

tbh i think (this is all my opinion) yerin chose the wrong words to say. i do believe it could be very tiring especially after practicing those steps continuously for hours but claiming that it was harder than other girl groups is quite offensive i guess many guests were from girl groups and lizzy is from afterschool (the girls who danced with poles yes) but nevertheless, no kpop choreo is easy may it be for men or for women, may it be cutesy or powerful. + ill be seeing gfriend perform live soon yaaaay
