Dozens dead in China floods with more heavy rain expected | DW News

  • China's national observatory has warned of more torrential rain in southern China. Downpours have caused landslides and floods in the past week that destroyed homes, infrastructure and crops. Relief and flood control personnel have been working to help trapped residents. Officials in the city of Guilin call it the worst flooding since 1998.
Also in China, visiting German economy minister Robert Habeck has told his hosts that they are indispensable to achieving global climate goals. Chinese officials had told Habeck they were expanding coal production - for security reasons.
During visits to Beijing, Hangzhou, and a BMW plant in Shanghai, Habeck acknowledged that efforts to curb global warming have been overshadowed recently, making cooperation with China more important than ever. He said China must find a safe alternative to coal.

Back in the day when we baby boomers learned world geography in school, practically nothing was taught about China (or Russia). Nor was there a lot of news from there.
Now, through CZcams news reports, adding a map is a good way to help us fill that gap in knowledge.
China is too important not to know our way around the map. If this were an American news report, we sort of expect it to be soft on geography. But, its from DW, and we expect more.
      Thanks!

These extreme climatic events should alarm us and press us to not only adapt ourselves to it but do real actions to stop these increasing extreme climatic events otherwise it will soon come a day where we will not be able anymore to financially compensate people to their properties damages. It will soon be to expensive to adapt to these phenomena's so we should start yesterday to stop doing what is causing us all those climate problems that will kill our societies.
