I know I'm late to the party here but I like your method so far, plan to watch this whole series and am excited to see the final product. As a side note, watching you chisel out that area with your hand directly in front of your chisel was making me wince hard. Having stabbed myself in the hand with my own chisel that required a few stiches by doing exactly what you did, I always use a vice to hold my piece so I don't have to put my hands in such a precarious position.
Same here, I am in the process of buying this kit and having a go at putting it together. I carve on gunstocks for a hobby and always thought it would be interesting to put one together and carve something interesting on it. I'm in Sask. Canada, lots of long cold winter days to put in doing something in the shop. Very interesting videos you have put together. Thanks.
I think you'll enjoy building this kit especially if you already have some carving experience. I did some carving on mine, which I'll cover in another video, but it was a little rough with this being my first project. Good luck with yours!
This is going to help so much with mine.
Hope it does! Good luck!
